WTF Is Overtraining?

Its good that you care man, but i believe your body tells you when your over training. I just think he's training hard, not over training. ;)

how the hell can you overtrain and not know it? there are many clear symptoms: depression, strength decreases (how can you not notice that), etc. Injuries doesn't have anything to do with overtraining, that's usually wear and tear that happenes over time, specially if you use the same exercises all the time over and over. Also of course, poor lifting technique and stuff like that.

CCR i think u r doing 2 much mate during the week, why don't you try to do your week's workouts in 3 days? Give your body time to recover or else you will find out what overtraining is...Less is more my friend, less is more...:D

Lol, don't worry dude, I was going to have a dig about this comment but others have beat me to it so I won't bother :)

I know what to look out for, as it stands I've gained about 9lbs in the last few weeks and I'd bet a fair bit that I've also dropped bodyfat (Impossible I know ;)) so I'm keeping an eye on things.

Maybe I should add that I monitor my lifestyle outside of training a lot more than most, I've had 2,250 calories so far today which will rise to 5,000 tonight. I also had 8 hours sleep almost exactly last night and tonight I will have about 7 hours sleep. I'm in control of teh variables and keeping an eye out for atrophy, tiredness and mood swings

Don't worry man, by the time I hit 250lbs I'm hoping to blast some of the misconceptions about overtraining off this site :D

People used to do farmwork for 12 hours a day every day. Noone said they were overworking.

Used to?????

I grew up working on a farm not that long ago... I'm pretty sure that is still standard on a lot of farms. There are no labor laws when it comes to agriculture.

What does ccr eat for brekkie?

During the week I have a protein shake at about 5.30-6am when I wake up and at about 9 which is post training I have anything from a sandwich to a pasta dish which is what I'm having today washed down with another protein shake.

At weekends, as I posted on another thread recently, I eat a pack of Bacon, 3-4 sausages, some eggs, fried tomatoes and mushrooms (recovery from a week of overtraining) :)

AM

The DL’s felt so much better today, I think that my push to lift 400lbs and the hamstring pull I got from doing it last year had caused a little physcological issue with deadlifting as I’ve dreaded having to do them for some time now. I’m back repping at the same level as last year with a little left in the tank and most importantly of all I was actually enjoying it this morning so I’m hoping decent progress will start coming again

DL’s
2x3@ 319
6x 286
10x 264

I had few instances of feeling dizzy or lightheaded between reps today so I’m hoping that’s the cardio stuff I’m doing at lunch time starting to pay off. Also, my grip felt stronger than usual, it was still strong right up to the last rep

Split squats
3x10@ 176

Should up this next week, feeling comfortable with it now

Glute ham raise
2x10@ 132
10 x 143

Woodchoppers (bottom to top)
2x10@ 99

I finished off with some crunches and press up Iso holds as I had some time left

I weighed in at 226 today which I’m happy about as I feel like I haven’t eaten as much as I could have

You have a ghr? Lucky.
