Great thinking Jen. I might try the same :)

Hello peeps! Hope everyone has had a beautiful day so far! :D

Ok, so I switched things up at the gym today. I am now doing an Upper/Lower split routine. This means I will be working upper body 2 days a week and lower body 2 days a week. The reason for this is I started to get a bit bored with the "body part" routine. Also, since I'm over 40, I think my body will respond better to hitting each muscle twice a week.

Here's what gets worked when:

Upper Day - Back, chest, shoulders, triceps
Lower Day - Quads, Glutes, Hammies, Biceps

Yes, I know biceps are technically upper, but with 8 exercises on my upper day, it's just too much and I only have 4 lifts for lower days - plus biceps makes it 6. So I just added them on lower to even it out some.

And here's how it went:

Warm up - 10 min stair mill

Was a good workout - took me about an hour. I'm using the stair mill to warm up because I don't have enough energy afterwards.

Also went for a 40 min walk with my dog this afternoon. No pics becauseI was on the phone.

Happy Monday :D

Here's my workout. They are all three sets:

I'm having to do the same exercises for triceps over and over because I'm having an issue with my shoulder/arm. Basically, it hurts when I take off a shirt or have my arm over my head with resistance. I'm fine doing bench and military presses, but I can't do overhead extensions ... weird. Anyway, just working around it for now.

They broke ground on our new house today!!!!!

Crappy pic, but oh well!

Your weekend definitely got kicked off properly :)

It was a lazy weekend, but pretty good! :)

Doing great Jenni, have a good weekend :)

Thank you, Stan! :)

How are you Jen?

I'm doing good, thanks Cate! Lots of snow this weekend - well, for us southerners, anyway (we got like 2 inches) LMAO

you should get your shoulder checked but would suspect a rotator cuff problem, what exercises are you doing to keep it in good shape and prevent injury ?

Exciting times Jenni! **Stan jumps up and down like a child on Christmas morning**

I know!!! I'll be posting lots of pics! :D

YAY!! How exciting Jen! Cate, joins in the happy dance :D

Happy dance all around! Although in a few months, I may be more like this : :svengo:

Happy dance!

Thank you! :D

It's the strangest thing because it hurts the worst when I take off a shirt? I have to take it off with that arm down. It feels like the pain is in a very small line from the shoulder to to the elbow. Almost like it's deep inside the bicep. It feels like an intense burning when I trigger it. The burning lasts for several seconds after I complete the movement. But you're right - probably need to get it checked out. Unfortunately, it can take a few weeks to get an appt for something like this with my ortho doc. As for exercises - well I'm warming up, but I should be doing some rotations or something ... I'll add those in - maybe on and off day ...

Today marks a full month (4 weeks) of going to the gym 4 times per week!

I have not made much progress on losing weight, BUT I am still very happy about working out on a regular basis. Here is today's workout. Three sets for each:

Now, the fun part! Here's a few key exercises and the progress I have made for each:

Box Squat (Bodyweight)
Started: 3 x 8 reps
Now: 3 x 14 reps (+6 reps)

Bench Press (Olympic bar - 45 lbs)
Started: 3 x 8 reps
Now: 3 x 12 reps (
+4 reps)

Military Press
Started: ( 20 lbs) 3 x 10 reps
Now: (30lbs) 3 x 10 reps (+ 10 lbs)

Lat pulldowns
Started: (35 lbs) 3 x 10
Now: (60 lbs) 3 x 10 (+25 lbs)

Straight leg Deadlifts
Started: (30 lbs) 3 x10
Now: (40 lbs) 3 x 12 (+ 10 lbs, + 2 reps)

At the end of all this, I may not lose as much scale weight as I would like. However, I will be BUFF under the FLUFF! :smilielol5::rotflmao:

Ooo, now that´s motivation! I agree with Tru though, sounds like rotator cuff/instability trouble. Mind form while working out and get it checked out.

I have a similar issue with my shoulder although it comes and goes. Avoiding using it too much until you see your doctor as it will probably get worse. Congratulations on your house! How exciting. I cant wait to see some more photos.

If it's still bothering me by the time I get to my ortho, I'm just going to get a steroid shot and be done with it. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I often get these weird inflammatory responses in my joints - usually there is nothing structurally wrong - it's just inflammation gone awry. The shot knocks it out quick!

Thanks! My experience with pain that "comes and goes" is that it's more related to tension than structural damage. I have RA though, so stress can trigger pain for me. The house is too exciting! I find myself wanting to pitch a tent on the lot! :hurray:

So, here are some better pictures of the progress on the house. They seem to be working pretty fast. They put in a big drain pipe in the 2nd day. I walked the lot yesterday and because it's a bit up on a hill, we have a great view of the lake across the street where the sun sets.
