I must be wickedly out of shape because not only does my lower body hurt, my upper hurts today from yesterday! So, I am skipping the gym today and instead driving to the city to shop for floors! I'm still trying to figure out which type of flooring I want for the new house - solid hardwood, engineered, luxury plank, or something else. I've looked online quite a lot but it's not the same as seeing it in person.

Short walk w/dog
Go to city
Healthy Lunch
Hobby Lobby (maybe)
Grocery store

Hope everyone has a great day! :D

I think you're doing great! Way to hit the gym and have a meal at a table! Two really hard things for me that take some serious effort to do.

Both you and LaMa have good ideas. I am trying not to overwhelm myself with too many tasks, so I'll give myself maybe one per day. I've found in the past 5 days, twice I ended up doing more than I put on my task list. You'll feel less stressed out because you're not leaving tasks unchecked, accomplished when you do finish the one or two things you've given yourself to do and bloody fantastic when you add another one on!

I wish you an absolutely fantastic day today! Happy Friday! :D

Hmm you may be onto something! Think I'll refine my list to a half dozen things, then see what else I feel like doing. Hope your Friday was happy too! :D

Hurting is just an exercise trophy lol

I must have won a gold medal then! :D :D

Glad I took the day off from the gym. In the past, I have struggled with doing too much too fast and making physical problems worse. Maybe I'm learning some moderation? That's a first, lmao.

Today's Calories: 1300

So I drove an hour to the city this morning and ended up spending about 5 mins in the store. On the way back, I stopped at another place to look at more flooring. This flooring thing has me baffled.

What I WANT - Solid hardwood - white oak or hard maple
What I NEED - Something water-resistant - luxury vinyl/laminate plank
A possible compromise - Engineered hardwood - not waterproof, but more resistant to water than solid hardwood

I love the look and feel of solid hardwood. However, my living/dining/kitchen are all open and I want the floor to be the same in all rooms, so I'm concerned about hardwood in my kitchen. Also, hardwood can be a pain in the ass to clean. You can't wet mop it. Also, I have a big dog and we will always have dogs. Dogs have nails and dogs make messes or get sick occasionally.

Here are two choices. One is solid hardwood. The other is Aquaguard - a water-resistant laminate. Is the difference very noticeable?

I've refined my list. Takes some of the pressure off.

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Happy Saturday, Jenni!

I hope you have a good session at the gym, and that a smaller to-do list eases your anxiety.
The difference in the hardwood and laminate is hardly visible from those pictures. I had beautiful hardwood several years ago and my lovely black lab destroyed that over a couple of years, and it wasn't possible to restore them. I couldn't keep his nails short enough, it just didn't matter. Sounds like you already know what they can do, just keep that in mind when making the decision!

Hi, Jenni. I actually prefer the second pic as the wood would match better & the first would annoy me. Not being able to wet mop would not be good. Having something that looks good, but is really durable would be my choice. Our son has a beautiful hardwood floor that has been badly scratched. It's such a shame. It seems that you get what you pay for with laminate flooring. Choosing one with a 25-year guarantee is an option here in Aus & probably where you are too. How exciting! So many choices :)

I like them both Jenni. What are they like to stand on though? I'd want to take my shoes and socks off and give them a test that way

Good morning! :) Thanks for the words of wisdom! Yup, everything you say is true, and I know it! I have been researching like crazy and discovered a handscraped that supposedly does not show the scratches (because technically it is already scratched). Still, that doesn't really help with the wet floor situation. Thankfully, I have several months to make the final decision. It's going to be very hard!

Cate - I completely agree laminate can be a complete disaster if it's cheap. Normally I would not even consider it because it's truly AWFUL with spills. However, they have this new stuff that is water resistant, looks pretty darn good, has a texture to it, and when I examined a piece yesterday the stuff does seem pretty damn durable. I'm going to have to read tons of reviews. And I wil probably change my mind a lot. LOL!

Yes, I totally agree with standing on it, walking on it, etc. Another concern with the non-wood stuff is also how it will sound! I have been on laminates and vinyl planks that look and feel nice, but make terrible creaky sounds when walked on. I don't want a noisy floor. I really want wood to be honest. I am hoping I can maybe find something handscraped with a finish that's a bit more forgiving. One of the reasons I wanted White Oak and hard maple is because they are more durable woods. I can't really have hickory where I live because it's too humid, and hickory does poorly with that.

Ok guys, I totally blew the diet yesterday. I'm not going to get too in my head about it and just start fresh today. Still, I want to learn from my mistakes and therefore give it some thought. What happened?

First, I didn't have my protein shake before the gym. This means I didn't eat at all until around 1 p.m.
I eat my lunch/breakfast - 2 egg omelette with ham, mushroom, a little cheese
I'm watching TV and craving something really salty ... I can't stand it anymore and eat some chips
At this point, I feel like I have blown it, so for dinner I have hot wings and garlic bread.
My daughter gets home from work at 9 pm and brings me a slice of pumpkin cheese cake!

In my defense, I will say that I started my period this morning, and cravings for me are really intense this time of the month - a week before and especially the few days before. I think that contributed to the cravings and also my lack of willpower. Maybe next month I need to come up with a real plan and strategy with this knowledge in mind.

My editing time limit has apparently run out for above post. I forgot to log my gym workout:

I did go to the gym, though, and here is what I did:

Hey Jenni! For a cravy, periody day I think you kept within reason. You certainly didn´t totally blow it. No endless grazing, no binging: you had two meals and two largish snacks and that was it.
About the sound of laminate floors: a proper underlayer should get rid of that completely.

You did good, Jenni! I'm happy to hear that you're not going to let it set you back either. I haven't even considered my period yet, to be honest. They'll definitely be some planning before it arrives. Maybe some healthy snacks that feel like treats. My go-to is the largest bowl of macaroni and cheese, so I'll have to find a way to substitute that!

I hope you have a good day! Looking forward to hearing how your Sunday was. :)

Is it Monday already???

Sunday went well - I stayed under 1500 calories even though plans got very jumbled around. Took my daughter to the Coach Outlet and bought her a cute handbag and wallet. Bought myself two bags and a wallet. Happy Thanksgiving to me, lmao. They were having a huge sale. 50% off everything in the store. Sometimes I think the sales before Black Friday are better than the ones on it. Especially since you don't have to deal with mobs, crazy traffic, the possibility of being trampled, impossible parking, and lines you'd expect to see at an amusement park. Dinner with the girlfriend was nice too.

Thanks for your encouragement! I am just learning about underlayers for floors and the different techniques to lay the floors down. Never in a million did I think i would learn such things, lol. I'm not handy or even crafty, so it's all very foreign to me, but exciting all the same. Hope you have a great day!

Good morning! Ugh ... period is the absolute worst time for my cravings - willpower becomes non-existent. Seems it gets worse as I get older too. I'm looking forward to menopause, lmao. But yeah, carbs, sweets, and salts are my go-tos.

Hope your day is amazing!

About the periody thing: since my IUD got rid of most of the horrors of menstruation I´ve been MUCH less cravy. I don´t want to sound dramatic but it has been life-changing :D

Yesterday went pretty well with the exception of an extra popcorn snack last night while watching a movie with hubby. I did get to the gym, but stayed away from stairmill do to period stuff.

Elliptical - 10 min
Cbl rows - 3 x 10
Incline curls - 3 x 10 (8 lbs)
Cbl Curls - 3 x 10 (15 lbs)
Dumbbell rows - 3 x 10 (8 lbs)
OH Cbl curls - 3 x 10

Finally got approval from the architectural committee on the house. Just waiting for the bank now.

Huh ... I would have never thought the IUD could have such benefits! I'll have to look into that. Thanks! :D

Popcorn > Chips. You could have had a worse snack, so no worries there.
Congrats on another step forward with the house!

Speaking of the mall, I've rocked out some of my highest step counts there. Just sayin'. ;)
Have an amazing day! I'm looking forward to hearing how it turned out for you!
