I can feel your excitement! What sort of trees are they Jen?

Jenni that looks like a stunning location

I hope your arm is feeling better soon. I managed to tear my rotator cuff once, I wouldn't recommend it o_O lol

Happy Thursday! Made it to the gym today. It was another upper day and I did have to modify a bit because of my shoulder. I discovered that dumbbell flys were not a good idea at all and neither were flys on the machine - so I guess flys are out for now. My heart is not broken at all; Flys are one of my least favorite exercises! I also subbed in some internal and external shoulder rotations on the cables for my second shoulder exercise.

Oh, and get this ....

20 min on the stair mill!!

(sorry for shouting)

Those are great photos and it looks like a gorgeous location!

Thank you! :D

They are long leaf pines. They grow everywhere here! Some people hate them, but I like them! :)

Thanks, Stan. I spent a lot of time trying to find the perfect lot, and after we bought this one I second guessed myself sooo much, but I'm feeling much better now that it's just right!

I don't think it's a tear. It actually felt a little better today, but I have also been avoiding the movements that set it off.

I am SO allergic to pine trees. They looked so different to the pines we see here, which I think are usually Radiata.

Good morning, afternoon, evening, etc.

Life has taken a turn for Crazytown. Holidays, travelling, building a house, teenage daughter ... but I made it to the gym! Here is what I did.

Stair mill 10 min

I will be so happy come January 2.

Well done on making it to the gym Jen. We just have to survive the next little bit as best we can. This is the hardest time of year & you have all this extra stress. Being as healthy as you can would help you to cope. Just remember it will all be worth it in the long run xo

Well done making it to the gym Jenni - I think everyone is a bit busy right now so with everything else you've got going on you've done great to fit a good workout in :)

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been on hiatus in Florida for the holidays. Did not workout. Did not eat good.
Oh well, it's a new year, right?
And for 2018, I am going to start counting calories *grumble**growl**cry**hisss***
Goal is 1500 cals a day with one cheat meal of +700 cals one day a week. At my current weight - 198 lbs - I should still lose. Workouts will remain the same, but I'll add 1-2 days a week of dedicated cardio sessions. :(:svengo::ambivalence:

Diet part starts today. Workout part tomorrow. Time to pick things up a bit.

In the meantime, here are a few shots of the beach. We stayed in the panhandle which is on the golf and beautiful. More pics to come...

Back to the gym today. Here's what I did:

Mistake - Only did stair mill once for 15 mins!

Even though I havent been to the gym in almost 2 weeks, I felt really strong and was able to increase on reps or weight for everything except Military presses. I think the issue there was that I did them last when I was losing energy, and mil presses are one of the more difficult lifts for me. Been staying under 1500 cals too. Meditated after the gym. I love to meditate, but it almost always puts me to sleep. Oh well, maybe the rest is good for my muscles.

Our lot is cleared, and they have the house outlined out with strings and stuff. We have run into one issue. Once they cleared the lot, it was discovered that the slope was more than the map said. So we will have seven steps up to the porch. I'm trying to decide now if we want that many steps .... the other option is to redesign the house, a pain, yes, but we are only building once and I want it to be right.

Do you think 7 steps is too many? The foundation will end up being 43"

Great start to the year Jenni :)

Hmm, I don't think 7 is too many, but does it fit with the design of the house ok? I'm a big fan of imperial staircases, if it would fit the design I'd definitely go for that lol

7 steps are fine if you can go round the back without steps. The main thing is to have some easy way of getting into the house from wherever you park your car with
- a buggy
- a walker
- a wheelchair
- a broken foot and crutches
- heavy groceries
I you have that, steps to the front door are an esthetic decision - and I like the look of them.

It was not my first choice to have so many steps. But maybe I can do something creative with it so it looks intended rather than tacked on. I was thinking a tapered stair, like this one:

The back of the house has only one step, so yes. That's a good point, thanks! :)

It was a crazy morning. I woke up at 3 a.m. because my hubs dog was barking and then I couldn't get back to sleep. So, I went to the gym super early. Amazingly enough, I had a great workout. It's funny but that 10 day break from the gym seems to have done me some good because I actually feel stronger. I increased deads. Added some weight to the leg press. And the bw squats weren't too hard. I'm going to 20 reps on squats and then I will start using an olympic bar. I'm going to try and really milk every last drop of progress from each weight by increasing reps.

So far, on track for diet today. 1500 cals is the plan. I'm looking forward to Saturday's higher cals, though!

The back of the house has only one step, so yes.
:iagree: with LaMa.
Your idea for the front steps looks lovely. I would suggest eliminating even that one step at the back. G really wanted a sunken lounge & we have 2 sets of 3 steps down to it, either side of the fireplace. One of these should have been a ramp. Those steps have excluded many people from walking down to our lounge, including my late mother. It will need changing in the future if we are to stay in this house into our old age, which we would both like to do.
Your exercise is amazing by the way. Go you! :D

Ooh, that does look nice Jenni, especially in combination with the tiered planting areas

Heartily agree with LaMa and Cate about the rear step. Every new house in these parts has to be built with at least one level access threshold these days. it does make a difference as i've seen some really horrible retro-fitted ramps

I'm not sure how to get rid of the one step in back - we have a crawl space and it's 10" high in back ...
