Weight-Loss Run!

Weight-Loss
Week 4 already? Nice job Joey!

Guideon thank you and sweet trail run buddy!

Caddius I'm proud of you! Finishing with a sprint too. I have a herniated and a bulging disc L4-L6. I have avoided surgery so far by having the epidural injection, but I use the yoga video below and it has helped a lot. It might not be good now if your back is in spasm, but it may be something to try when it is a bit better.

FYI she also has warmup/cool down yoga for runners videos on her site.

Hurray for runners, I run too. Done everything from 5k to marathon (so very, very hard). Just to make sure, are you aware of park run? It's a free, weekly timed run at various locations all over uk and abroad too. Just Google 'parkrun' and pick the run nearest to you. Plenty people walk or run/walk so there's no pressure if you can't go very far yet. It's a 5k or 3.1 mile run. I highly recommend it.

Howdy LHR! I'll check out those park runs. 26.2 miles is super insane. I hope you'll drop by and share your runs.

C25K w4d2. I love clouds. No sun today and a little bit chilly but I soon warmed up. today was much more manageable than the previous run, found a stride that was comfortable and although I went a bit slower it felt much more enjoyable and lessened any pains from landing funny. Didn't feel like I was about to die at the end either which is good. Did get an odd pain in my stomach though, was like the start of a stitch but across the front of my belly at the bottom of my ribs, maybe it's muscles forming! Haha.

Also, I checked out that park run website and although there are a couple near me they all seem to be on Saturday mornings when I'm at work!

c25k WK2D1 - June 24- Amazing run
c25k Wk2D2- June 25- Another amazing run
One more day of Wk2. Sooo ready for week 3!!

Went for an interval run yesterday, despite my legs still feeling a little sore.
Intervals are not my favourite runs but kept going. And as usual the stats are better than I was feeling during the run :p

My little feet are so tired! Ended up on my feet all day at work (used to do this everyday until I moved to the admin team about 2/3 months ago, not used to it any more!) so it was even harder to make myself go out for the run afterwards. The grass has been cut since Wednesday so there's less cushioning but it's been raining all day so at least the cut grass wasn't flying around everywhere. Run was fine, wasn't paying much attention though and thought the third jog was the fourth so a bit wounded when I realised I had longer to go haha! The horses kept watching me so I went over to stroke them when I finished, not the best idea as I had to jump over a little brook that I couldn't judge the width of because the grass was overgrown there and the up a short but steep slope up to the horse field which was covered in tangled slippery grass, thought I was going to fall straight into the brook on the way back down! Also had to dodge some huge slugs on my run.

Did a long today and found out that my hydration pack is leaky.
My back was drenched, my shorts also weren't spared.
Looks like the leak is in the valve, so gonna go back to the store tomorrow, see what can be done about it.

24.86 km

Going these long distances alone is very boring, going to join a running group (not sure if you know what I mean, but what it boils down to is a group who's running the long runs in a marathon preparation together).

So I took 2 days off after falling and the stomach mess and then ran tonight. About halfway through I planted on a curve and my bad knee have out. I've sprained my MCL again. I should never have run with it hurting. So now it's RICE and wait and see. Fuuuuuuu!

It's just a setback and a lesson not to push too hard when hurt.

You guys keep kicking butt and I'll be back at it before too long.

That worldcup business is not good for me :p
Specially when my "orange" win...

Did a run yesterday but wasn't that great, had to stop a few times to calm my bowels.
Guess I'm getting to old for that drinking shit :D
Or maybe my body can't stand it as it used to do, which is good I guess.

Still managed a 13 km run, in 1h15 (not counting the time spent trying to prevent me from shitting myself...)

Good lesson tho: lay off the booze :p

C25K w5d2.
Today's run was the halfway point on the C25K schedule and to be honest I can't believe I've actually stuck with it for this long and not given up! It was very warm today even though there was slight cloud cover so not direct sunlight. I think this is the sweatiest I've been out of all the runs. Today was 2x 8min runs and although I was alright with the 8 minutes at the end of them I was getting pretty tired and waiting for it to end so no idea how I'm going to do next run when it's just a 20 minute straight run.

Total distance: 2.21 miles
Walking pace: 14.51 min per mile
Walk distance: 1.01 miles
Run pace: 13.18 min per mile
Run distance: 1.2 miles

That sounds miserable Guideon. Chose running not the runs.

It's awesome that you are sticking with the program JB! Start out as slow as possible on that 20 minute run. You can do it!

I walked in the pool and swam last night. The knee is healing quickly. I don't want to rush it, but I will be back running before too long. Meanwhile my wife ran 2 miles last night. She's going to catch up to me while I recuperate. I'm okay with that.

C25K Week 5 done! (sort of...)

Today was a 20 minute straight run so I set off really slowly (any slower and I'd have been walking) and all was going well. The lady on my app told me I was past half way and I was feeling alright, had only traveled the same distance in 10 minutes as I did in 8 minutes the other day because I was going so slow though. Then a couple of minutes later a little whippet dog decided it was play time and jumped up at me until I stopped! Haha! It's ok because I love dogs so I stopped and gave it a stroke (it then jumped nose first into my eye...) while it's owner came running over apologizing. But it turns out I went to school with him so I had a quick chat and then carried on my run. The problem is that it's been raining all day so I had my hoody on, making my phone running the app very hard to get to. I eventually managed to pause it but when I went to resume it it restarted instead so I just had to guess when to stop based on how many laps of the field I'd done and don't have any data for this run. It felt like a good run though, I wasn't dying at the end so could have continued if I accidentally ended up finishing early and I'm not too worried about next week's runs. I'll be having a week and half off after that though so may come back to this run when I return from my time away.

Today was pretty sunny which I do not like haha! There was also some weird guy just sat on the floor watching me from about half way in, then on my last lap he walked off with his dog in the opposite direction. Ankle was fine today though after going over it on the last run.

Walking pace: 15.21 min per mile

Nice work JB! The whippet to the eye made me legit lol.

BD good to see you getting a run in.

One step closer to road/track running again. At least the elliptical can get the HR high enough to keep my cardio for running and approximates the movement unlike the bike.

Fairly warm today but a nice wind got up towards the end of the run. There were 2 dogs today, a yorkshire terrier which left me alone and a beagle which came running in front a couple of times so I had to alter my stride, but didn't have to stop today! Didn't have much motivation today so it was difficult to get going at the start and to finish but I made it through the 2x10 min runs, went very slowly though to ensure I made it through.

Hey! Thought I should drop in. I have still been having issues with my back after the 5K a few weeks ago and so I haven't been running or walking. I finally went to the Chiropractor today and am feeling pretty good, but if running is going to mess up my back, not sure I will be able to keep it up, which is a real bummer for me. I already have another 5K planned for July 20th, so I am hoping to be in better shape before that date.

I hope that's not the case Caddius. Running got me recovered from my back woes. Do you have good shoes? Did you land odd or stumble during the race? Was it on concrete? The only time running has bothered my back was on concrete.
