Ran 4 straightaways on the indoor track right after to test the knees. They're good a bit stiff now, but ready to start back running.

Haven't been here in a while, but I am still running.
As a matter of fact I ran a new PB on the 5 km the other week.

Thursday I'm off to Switzerland, gonna run a 10-miler in the mountains. Gonna be crazy though, but also crazy beautiful. And do some hiking through the mountains as well.
Yay for holiday!

Thanks Wana! Good to hear Guideon. That mountain run sounds awesome! Be safe!

I hadn't eaten enough while working out in the woods yesterday so this was a real grinder. I had to walk some and I walked once the 30 minutes was up so I don't have a distance. Got one in anyway.

Mijn Switserland run was loads of fun, so much in fact that I'm gonna do an even tougher one next week in Belgium, in the Ardennes.
26 km with even more vertical meters (in fact more than a km worth of vertical meters).

And I ran my first 30 km+ run last sunday.
Went pretty well, not too much after-effects like doms.
My left calf did tense up a bit during the run, so I've been giving that some attention with a foamroller. Gonna go on a run tonight, so we'll see how that goes.

Keep running my friends!

Great to hear from you Guideon! You just keep kicking butt in a massive way!

I had my first run since the 7/22 today. I had a staph infection in my knee that had to be cut open so I have been out of commission for way too long.

Felt okay. I took it easy which made the HR seem high, but my body has been through a lot and I haven't done anything in a while. I should sleep like a baby.Super happy I could run at all!

I look forward to getting back to business. I hope others will stop in with their runs.

Where did everybody go? Ran away or something? :p
Still going strong here, ran a real though 26 k trail last weekend in the Ardennes.
Getting more and more hooked on the trails.
But first, the marathon. 5,5 weeks to go.. Anxious anticipation :D

Awesome run Guideon! A 26K in the mountains seems like an impossible fantasy to me at this point. I looked up the area and it looks like a beautiful place for a long trail run. Best of luck with your marathon. Keep us posted on your training. Hopefully I will be on the mend and running regularly soon.

I feel you Wanna! Nice job getting back to it. I think long walks are the way to go after a long lay off. I think if I'd done that my knee wouldn't be giving me trouble. Keep it up and keep us posted!

My left knee (Not the one infected/cut on) has been giving me problems, but it seemed to really improve yesterday and I managed a little running (0.625 mile) after a bike workout (30 min). I also walked for 40mins on my lunch break.

Getting into the tough strech of my marathon training, really long runs in the weekends.
Last week I clocked 80 km in total, that's crazy
Feeling pretty good though, apart from little aches and pains which seem to go with marathon training (knees mostly).

Weight is fluctuating a bit, around the 190-192 lbs mark.
Aiming for a sub 190 as race-weight, every pound I don't need to carry around for 26 miles counts :)

Hope you knees will be all good to go again soon Q!

Wow that's a ton of kms! I can't imagine marathon training without some level of discomfort. 26.2 miles. When you think of what you've accomplished just remember that the first person to complete it collapsed and died  so don't push too hard. You're going to kick this things butt!

I'm happy to report that I managed 2.5 miles in 30 minutes last night at the indoor track. The knees feel good today. I'm a bit tight and creaky everywhere, but it has been a while and it's a good tightness. Going to do some weights tonight and possibly yoga and then I plan to have a road run out in the heat for Friday or Saturday if we end up at the gym tomorrow. It's very hot out, but I want to do it. I also made a deal to road run with a running buddy that hasn't been going because of the heat so it's for a good cause.

Had my longest run today in my marathon preparation, 35 km.
Ran a total of 300 km this month, pfieuw that's a lot.
4 weeks to go, looking forward to it.

Wow! That's a ton of KMs! I hope you have a great marathon. How are the knees holding up?

My wife ran her first 5K distance!

Great job getting the BH involved!

Knees are doing ok.
Getting ready to go on the last really long run before the marathon as we type. So it's not long before the big day is here.

Still get a sense of wonderment when I realize that in 3 weeks I'll be running a marathon.

Thanks man!

I'm glad the knees are ok. I hope your last long one goes well. I'm excited for you.

I ran a slow mile Tuesday, but the knee wasn't having it so I aborted the run. It is feeling much better today and I will be running this evening. I did a lot of ITB stretching last night and that really seems like where the issue lies. I'm so tight in my hips/glutes that it takes a lot of stretching to have a normal range of motion and my knees felt immediately better after stretching.

First 5K since the kneebola. Worked way too hard for such a lousy time, but I was pleased to complete the distance. My knee was a problem for a bit, but eventually loosened up. I stretched first and walked a mile afterwards.

The knee is sore today, but better than after the last 2.5 miles.

Didn't track distance. Not pushing as hard made the knees feel better. I also iced them after I got home which really helped too.
