Weight-Loss Run!

Weight-Loss
Just been for my second free run, went on the same route as last time and although it seemed pretty difficult to get going it actually went pretty fast. Decided to use the mapmyrun app for this one. Both map my run and my UP info will be slightly wrong as I started the map my run app a couple of minutes before I started and walked the first 5 minutes, slowing down my average time, and I forgot to end the UP app when I got back so it ran a little longer.

Hey JB, glad to see you running!

Ryan good luck with the half marathon training! I hope you'll post runs here and we can revive this thread.

I am happy to report that I am still keeping up with my run streak.

Some highlights:
Today was day 147
I have managed a 28:38 5K
I have managed a 8:13 mile
I ran my first 10K distance without trouble

I derailed on my diet when I transitioned jobs so I am just getting back down to the weight I was in February, but at least I kept the exercise going. I will say that eating poorly and drinking made the streak almost immpossible. I was ready to quit when I started to get back on track with the diet and stopped drinking again. Now I am actually increasing my daily distance/time and adding other workout on top of the daily runs.

2.69 miles tonight
Good running folks!

Hi guys,

just popping in to see how everyone's doing.

I've been awol a while, but that doesn't mean I've stopped running :)
I've made some awesome friends while running and been to awesome places for a run (some highlights: half marathon on Curaçao, start a 06.00 AM because of the heat, running a 31 k trail on a dreary januari morning with a great group of friends, smashing my PB on the HM).
And lots of good things to come:
Ths weekend I'll be running a 37 k trail and next month I'll be running my second marathon.
I've also registered for my third: in november in Vegas :)
And planning for another one in april 2016, with a group of my college buddies.

Weightwise I've been doing OK. Gained some weight fast after my marathon (like 15 lbs). Running a marathon makes you hungry my friends :D
Now I'm almost down to my pre-marathon weight again, and hopefully this time I can keep it down afterwards, so I can lose some more weight while training for Vegas.

Keep pounding the pavement or enjoying those trails!

That's awesome Guideon! Your last post was right after your marathon and you were sick. I worried that something bad had happened when you just dissapeared after that. Glad to hear otherwise!

I just finshed day 162 of my run streak. I've run a 10K distance, broke the 30 minute mark for the 5K, and ran an 8:13 mile. I'm down into the 250s now. I was over 300 pounds last time you posted. Running is awesome!

I hope you stick around. I'm excited to hear about your running adventures!

Awesome, saw some nice progress in your avatar, keep it up, you rock!.
And congrats on running the 10k and breaking the 30 min mark. Always a good feeling to reach and break through milestone "barriers".

Just two weeks before my next marathon now. Getting nervous again :)
I try to remember to post here how it goes so you don't have to worry about me :p

I'm halfway through the Zombies, Run! couch to 5k training, and I'm really enjoying it! I never thought running would ever be my thing, but I'm determined to get up to running speed so I can really expiriance the Zombies, Run! app the way it was intended!

It's slow going thought because I am so overweight that I have to be really careful, but it's worth it I think!

Sweet Guideon! Good luck with that race!

That's awesome to hear Paladin-Cleric! Go slow! Go slower than you think you need to. That's what made it work for me. I wore a heartrate monitor and walked with short slow runs until I could keep a slow run in the aerobic zone and that kept me from getting hurt. I was 333 the first time I ran a full half hour. I've ran more than twice as fast as that first run now and my latest low is 254 pounds. Diet has played a huge part in this too, but I couldn't have done this without running. I fell and hurt myself and ended up having surgery on my knee from pushing too hard. Despite that setback and derailing on my diet a few times I have still averaged a bit more than a pound a week lost.

Running slow will make you faster. Buy good shoes, run slow, and learn to listen to your body. I'm excited for you!
