Weight-Loss WLF Team Challenge - TEAM FIRE

Weight-Loss
New mini challenge for next week, as sent to me by Christine: :)

25 jumping jacks starting Saturday and increased by 5 everyday for 2 points. (Apparently, Jumping Jacks are also known as 'Star Jumps')
No pre-packaged food like frozen dinners, pizza, chicken wings, and nothing you can microwave for 2 mins for a quick meal. The idea is to get back to the basics. When all this stuff was not available to us and to eat the way we are suppose to be eating without all the chemicals and salt for another 2 points.
And One more no weighing for a week..I know this is hard for us cause alot of us are scale junkies..But lets look in the mirror instead ofa scale to make us feel good..Its not all about the numbers..for another 2 points. (Obviously, other than the weigh in on Saturday)

Personally, I will not get all the points for the new mini challenge. The 'no microwaved stuff' is definitely not doable for me. I have to make three separate meals as it is, if I made mine anything that's more than a couple of minutes in the microwave, I simply wouldn't get around to eat. I hate cooking, and try to keep it to a minimum as it is, but now, trying to lose weight, it's even more difficult.

The other two things will be easy. Jumping Jacks are part of my workout anyway, and I only weigh once a week, on Saturday, for the challenge.

Some changes to next week's challenge, please read:

1) Jumping Jacks - as with any exercise, any kind of modification that anybody needs to make the exercise possible for them is okay. Also, I am dropping the amount from 25 to 10, and then at least one more than the day before on each consecutive day. How many more is up to how much you want/can do.

2) The weighing in thing is only 2 points overall, not 2 points per day. So it shouldn't make a great difference whether you decide to do it or not.

3) The third part about the non-microwave stuff stays as it is.

I hope this helps. As said, there will always be challenges that are unpopular with some people (this one certainly is with me! ) but that is why it is called a challenge in the first place.

Please note that Christine has updated the mini challenge rules to explain what she actually wants it to be.

This is a change from San's announcement.

Hey guys in response to all questions,
the weighing in is 2 points a day not a week.I assumed everyone knew that because we do our points daily..It is a real challenge for me as well because I weigh sometimes twice a day,why I am considering this a challenge for all of us and for me..If it doesnt work for some of you because it keeps you on track..I understand that as well but its only for a week.We are losing weight for a lifetime.
The jumping jacks starts off with 25 on saturday ..then 30 on sunday etc..
I should of been clearer on the microwaveable stuff..I know people cook their potatoes in the mic.thats fine.canned vegetable soup is fine as wellI know some people are on weight watchers which is fine too But canned pastas like chef boyardee is not ..lol or pizza pockets..which I love by the way.anything frozen except beef chicken, pork is not allowed..I hope this sums it up.

so (as I understand it)

1/ Jumping jacks back up to 25 as a start amount and increasing by 5 every subsequent day.
2/ No weighing gives 2 points per day
3/ Microwaving some food is ok - it all depends on the kind of food being heated up. If in doubt - ask for a ruling.

Well 2 and 3 will be hard for me.

1) I weigh myself EVERY morning after I exercise, before I put on my clothes for work.
2) When work gets hectic I usually pop a Weight Watcher's entree or Healthy Choice into the microwave, portion and calorie control in one.

Since the Jumping Jacks can be modified, then that's doable, will be trying for me, but DOABLE. Just 2 & 3 will be hard to do, 2 more than 3 because its become a part of my routine, I hope that habit doesn't cause me any unnecessary points.:angelsad2:Maybe I'll just put the scale in the spare bedroom, less chance of me being tempted with it in there.:biggrinjester:

Well hope that everyone is doing well, and good luck.

Thanks for the heads up with the calculation of points San, I am one of those guilty as charged as I use my previous week's weight instead of the lowest weight, will head over there right now to update my sheet if you haven't already.:seeya:

Right.

I'm not even going to start to answer individual posts.

Since everybody seems so keen on it, the mini challenge stands as it was originally posted by Christine. Disregard anything that I put up. That includes alternate exercises.

Starting the week after, the mini challenge will be ONE thing, not two or three. Please take that into account if you happen to be the next person to come up with a challenge.

Also, we will have to look at the situation with the teams, since we've lost a considerable amount of people now. I still haven't heard from Brad, so I don't know what's happening there.

I'll apologise in advance for getting very few points in the next mini challenge. There is no way I am doing jumping jacks, and I have no time or interest in trying to figure if I'm allowed to throw a certain item in the microwave or not. I only weigh once a week, so that'll most likely be the only points for me to claim.

I'll max out points on this for the team. It's a bit...elaborate this time, but I haven't eaten microwaved food (other than reheating) in several weeks, jumping jacks are not a challenge for me, and I can take it or leave it with the scale for a week. I'll have my trusty measuring tape, blood pressure monitor, and heart rate monitor to track progress.

Great idea on the ONE thing rule San.

Yeah, I think it's gone a bit out of hand with the mini-challenge having several parts. It's difficult for the person to come up with stuff, and it's difficult for everybody else to work all of that into their daily routine. One challenge should be enough, together with the ones that we have continually going on. :)

All right, we need some positivity in here. It's time to fan the flames of Team Fire!

Goonfairy: The loses haven't been there for you, but you've stuck it out and done very well on scoring those points. The scale will come around for you. Just keep kicking butt.

MandyH: So close to 200! Very nicely done!

San: First thanks for creating this challenge. You have had so much to deal with this year, but you keep losing weight and scoring points week after week. Your determination is inspiring.

Transparent: Your weight's stalled for a bit, but you keep kicking butt on the exercise front and the scale will have to take notice. The challenge and water points have been great as well.

Zyniche: As the team featherweight you don't have many pounds to lose, but you've done great and you're so close to that 200 pound mark. Nice!

And last but not least (in pounds) Me: I've stalled and then rebounded in weight, but I've kicked it into high gear and the pounds are starting to go away.

AWESOME WORK TEAM FIRE!

Thanks for the positivity, Quercus! :)

You're right, we need to move onwards and upwards, negative stuff is not going to help us at all!!

I think everybody in this team has been doing awesome so far. Never forget, the weight loss is not everything. I got frustrated not too long ago as well, because my scales just won't move, but I know I'm doing something good for myself, and I'm noticing my pants getting a little less tight. So something IS happening, and I'll be damned if I give up now! :)

We have all been getting a good amount of points, and every single person in the team has contributed a lot to our overall success. Keep on going everybody, you're doing great, and you WILL see results in the end. :)

Thank you Quercus!! I am at 198 right now! I am so happy that I cried tears of joy. I have broken the 200 pound mark! I still can't find my ticker password. I wrote it down somewhere!

Actually did good this week despite little exercise... simply ate less and that's what did it. I definitely think drinking lots of water has been a major help too. I don't crave other drinks when I get all that water in me.

April 27th:
current weight:302.4
lbs lost:lost 6.6
% lost:2.1%
exercise points:6
water points:21
mini-challenge points:28

I actually dropped more than 8 pounds since last week but since I was over my starting weight I was only allowed to count 6.6 pounds of it... way to go me...

This week's challenge... I think I will get all those points as long as I get some jumping jacks done.

It is going to be a good week I hope for points and hopefully to keep losing. Congrats Zynische on blowing past the 200 mark (maybe if you stop crying for joy long enough to remember your password you will get your ticker updated), I hope I will sneak well below 300 this week myself.

Zynische - well done on passing that wonderful milestone.

It is irritating that you have forgotten your password. I've done that before...

If you do not remember it - you can always do what I've done when I've forgotten mine... If you click on it and say that you want to create a new one - you can select the same pictures and key in the start, current and goal info etc. It produces the code for a new one with the password that you have just set up... If you paste that code into your signature it shows up on all the postings where you have had a signature set. For all the world it is as if you remembered it and updated it...
