Weight-Loss WLF Team Challenge - TEAM FIRE

Weight-Loss
Well, other than separating the good sports bras from the bad ones....*lol*

Oh boy, you gave me such a chuckle with this sentence! I have that same problem with the "bouncier" moves. I am rather "chesty" so I need support when I'm doing those moves. They are two reasons why I don't think jogging will ever happen for me. I think I'd knock myself out. LOL

I have had no end of trouble with big boobs over the years. When I was big I had what must have been the biggest boobs on the planet and I am now left with a heap of loose skin there such that my standard UK bra size is 32JJ.

Anyway - I need a good bra for zumba (embarrassing story - I used to wear a "wired" bra full of metal rods - and not only was it not very comfortable or successful in holding me together - I actually snapped the metal in a bra I was wearing when I started doing zumba - and suddenly found myself not held together at all)!!!!

I have however solved my problem with the best bra I have found. It is a "shock absorber sports bra" and I cannot recommend it strongly enough. Here is a blog (not mine) with a picture that I have found of it (mine is the black one at the top) and it is wonderful. I got mine from Bravissimo and it cost about £30 which is not too expensive.

They didnt have a sports bra with a JJ cup so I had to get a 34HH to get it to go round me...

I wish that I had found it years ago.

It has no metal rods in it - so is a million times more comfortable than my "normal" bras... It is so good I like to wear it even when I am not doing zumba if I can.

I have never felt able to run or jog - it may be partly confidence - but at least with this bra I can do my zumba.

I think someone asked for a ruling on what they have to do outside. Also I think someone asked about if it is too bad weather to go outside.

What to do outside: whatever you want to do (go to the store, take a walk, lay there, whatever you want to do).
If the weather is terrible: Dress for terrible weather (sorry)

Thanks for the ruling goonfairy. San and Belinda (who both asked for the ruling) - you can sunbathe and get points!

Gained weight this week... At the beginning of the competition I thought "wow a challenge"... I am such a competitive type... but at this point I feel like a failure to myself and to my team.
From today on everything I eat needs to be portions.

The boob problem for me is different - I don't have big boobs. Just heavy and saggy ones, due to my weight. I have a bra size that is almost non-existent to bra-makers. 50C. None of the sports bras I found come in that size. Very few regular bras do. After losing a bit of weight I am down to a 48 C now, but am still struggling. Most bras go up to 44 max, and if they go further, the 46+ ones do not have a C cup, but start at D or even DD. So I have two sports bras, neither of them in the right size, and neither of them doing anything useful really. And both of them were over £50 each. I can't get reasonably priced bras anywhere. I have started to do my exercise in my corset instead, since it holds me together much better, but the downside is that I overheat really quickly in it. After being stabbed by a broken wire so badly that I actually had to see the doctor though, I prefer the heat over the risk of pain any day though.

You are NOT a failure!! This type of thing happens when you're trying to lose weight. This is going to be a lifelong process and there will be ups and downs along the way, for ALL of us. The important thing is to keep fighting through the downs and to not take the ups for granted. Just keep fighting, you'll get there. :)

Goonfairy - you are no failure. Heck - you got the biggest weight loss last week - a lot of people get a bit of a gain after a big loss like that.

San - I really hope that you get something that fits you better. BTW - I think that it is scandalous that the wires in a bra are called wires at all... They are metal rods about a quarter of an inch across. I got stabbed when I snapped mine in zumba. It hurt!!! I ran really quickly out of that zumba class to check out what was happening... You are the only person I know that has been stabbed by their bra like I was...

Goonfairy, I agree with everybody. You are by no means a failure. The mere fact that you are here, working on losing weight, makes you a everything but a failure in my eyes already. We all have weeks in which we don't lose or even gain weight. It's one of those things that just happens, even if you do everything right. Don't let it get you down. You're doing your best, and nobody in the team is thinking that you let them down. You're a big asset to our team, contributing a hefty amount of points every week - you're doing great. Don't think anything different!!!

Omega - you are right, they shouldn't be called 'wires' at all, because they are not. My bra actually snapped while I was at work - I lifted some heavy bags of clothing, and all of a sudden there was a 'snap' and then a stinging pain just under my boob. I didn't instantly realise what it was, but then felt that my bra felt weird, and put my hand under my shirt - came back out covered in blood, so I disappeared into the bathroom. The stupid wire had snapped, come through the fabric of the bra, and stabbed me. I had a proper cut, about an inch long, which I had to have checked out by a doctor later that day because it wouldn't stop bleeding. I still have a scar. So I'm leery about wired bras, but at the same time, they fit much better than their non-wired counterparts. :/

Hi guys, how is everyone doing?

Arrggh, I don't know if its TOM or whatever, but now I am about to start drastic measures. I am going to replace one meal a day with a shake, MAXIMUM two, but probably one, somethings gotta give, because I've made up my mind its not going to be me. So wish me luck, I'm gonna need it. :Angel_anim:

Find below my pitiful excuse of last weeks recording. And do you know the hardest part for me was the NOT weighing, and I felt as though I lost a few pounds, so yesterday jumping on the scale and seeing an increase was tough :(

Ah well, it feels as though I have lost an inch of so in my chest area because I usually wear my bra on the last row, but now I am wearing it on the middle one, and the kicker, ITS A NEW BRA, so I know its not stretched out, can't win for losing:eek:, when the weight stops moving and the inches do, but when the weight starts moving, the inches stop:confused:. GO FIGURE.

May 4th:

Lots of booby talk in this thread and I feel left out. Mine are getting firmer with the lifting. I can bounce them individually or as a pair. My nipples look like flowers with hair for petals.

Everybody hang in there. My weight is sucking, but I'm working hard and getting healthier. Screw the scale! Just bust butt and feel better and that scale will catch up at some point. GO TEAM FIRE!

LOL its good to hear that someone that comes to the forum doesn't offer a silent prayer each night for the breast reduction surgery fairy to grant their dearest wish...:smilielol5:

Hi guys, just checking in with everyone to see how its going. I don't know but the thread seems to be awfully quiet around here, or is it just me? So to fill up the spaces in between my whinning and bitching, today was a sorta sorta day for me. Work was meh... and after that had another meeting. And what was this meeting about, well guys, it was to discuss what we would discuss at the meeting tomorrow.:willy_nilly: I know, tell me about it.:ack2:

My diet is going okay I guess, I started Jillian AGAIN this week, let's hope that I can break my record of one week and make it to two. Combining Jillian with Chalean Xtreme. I wont tell you that the Xtreme set was given to me as a gift, and I don't do BURN, LEAN or PUSH, but I am working the hell out of the bonus Turbo Jam section that comes along with it. It almost makes me wanna go out and buy Turbo Jam, but knowing me it will just join the dust gathering other exercise DVDs that I have.

So, that me for today, now tomorrow I expect someone to say something, tell me how your day went, what's going on, OR ELSE, I will be back tomorrow to fill you in on my day. Come on guys this thread is for support also, and venting and unloading, remember, mental health is ALSO very important, and a lot of times the things going on in our daily lives have a huge impact on our diet and exercise. Until then:seeya:

I agree this thread has always been on the quiet side, at least compared to the other challenge threads. For me personally, I post more in my diary thread and like supporting others in their diaries as well. It seems more personal there I guess. I don't know.

I've been having a great week so far. I've gone the whole week so far without having ANY sweets or junk food. I can usually justify sneaking in a hershey's kiss pretty easily, but I decided this week to try to fight through my cravings. So far so good! :)

All of my water points and I've been outside for an hour each day. Some days have been doing yard clean up work, other days just playing with my dogs. Yesterday I did taebo and then I sat outside for a while. It was absolutely gorgeous! It was overcast, but warm with a nice breeze. I love feeling the breeze on my skin, especially after a hard workout. I swear I could've fallen asleep out there I was so relaxed! :)

I hope you're all having a great week. :)

Congrats on your great week Mands, hope it continues. I must say that I have been fighting the demon sweet tooth from Hell:ack2: but so far I have been winning by giving it a Kelloggs Fibre Bar instead of the DD Glazed Chocolate Cake Donut it has been asking for.

Today was okay, other than cancelled meetings and co-workers who test your fortitude to not commit stupid acts against their person. I mean seriously, and some of these people have children, let's hope that stupidity is not hereditary and skips a generation.

This morning had to work through a head-ache:ack2:, wasn't as forceful as I wanted, but I did my hour+, only burned about 850 calories, but I'll take what I can get, hopefully the scale will move for me this week I have been eating under 1800 calories ALL week and exercising an hour+ each day... somethings gatta give.:toetap05::seeya:

Hey everyone. I am just checking in. My diet and excersise is going well, but other things have not been well. I'm sorry for my lack of support here. I really should post here more often. I have been isolating myself more and more. My diet and excersise has been fine though. The challenges are going well too.

Although, today, I tried something different. I was supposed to do a 1 mile race with my father, but someone messed the course up and it was only half a mile, haha. I can now jog a whole mile without walking or stopping. :)

How are you all doing?

Hi Fire! I'm at 316.2 tis morning which is .6 pounds below 2 weeks ago before I started lifting and gained.

I'm feeling very good. I started running yesterday for the first time in years. I'll be so pleased when I get to where you are Z. I have a heart rate monitor and I walk when I reach the top of my aerobic zone and last night was more walking than running. It will be an easy way to ease into running. I did an hour on my spin bike following my half hour run, so my fitness level has reached a new high. For once I enjoyed earning my mini challenge points. Thanks for that Z!

I had the most miserable week I am sorry

@goonfairy, don't sweat it, we ALL have those, the most important thing to remember is that that week is OVER, you never have to go through it again, and this week is different, We can't change the past, but we can learn from it.:grouphug:

Well guys, I am happy to say that the scale is moving, incorporating those squats and my pitiful attempts at lunges has afforded me a loss for the first time in about a month:biggrinjester: See below my stats for last week, here's hoping this week I actually lose a whole %.

May 11th:
current weight:269.8
lbs lost:0.4:hurray:
% lost:0.15%
exercise points:14
water points:21
mini-challenge points:21

Goonfairy... this is a life long committment not a race. There will be ups and downs along the way. No need to stress about a temporary gain. Just brush yourself off, get your determination going again, and you'll be fine! Keep fighting. We all go through it. Just remember that. :)
