Weight-Loss WL competition TEAM GOLD

Weight-Loss
Stick with it T! If the exercise is giving you grief, maybe don't do more than the hour.

That being said, I got my hour done. 10 minutes of hauling wood, 30 minutes spin bike, 20 minutes of dumbells, swiss ball, medicine ball, and calisthenics. Phone call between the wood hauling and the bike, but everything else was back to back.

Unfortunately I won't get my ex points today, had a slightly lazy morning...and ran out of time. I'll be doing the minimum for the rest of the week...sorry team!

How are you all doing?

Good day for diet & exercise. But if it wasn't for this challenge I would have stayed at home snuggled up with a book...
But I braved the elements and made it to they gym. I did half an hour on the eliptica and half an hour on the bike. I was really not up for it today.

Hope you guys are doing well!

A quote I like to help :)

Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.

Thanks for posting this.

I love motivational quotes and mantras. I think that they really help us overcome the occasional feeling of negativity...

Most people do not pop into the Cohen's area much. My friend Cate has a great motivational sayings thread over there which is well worth a visit:

Ack just got off the scale, I knew I went over board on the Sodium yesterday, but dang 4+ pounds.

But I wouldn't change a thing, just have to keep on trucking, and I enjoyed my steamed crawfish so every axn has consequences. And tomorrow is weigh in day for logging, (not a good sign, not a good sign)

got in the exercise, (that's a good sign) but not as much as I would like (not a good sign) so I aim to do better tomorrow morning with this tired body. (forgot how much aches and pains and exhaustion you feel when you start exercising again.)

I'm aiming for 1.5 hours tomorrow, wish me luck guys.

Transparent - remember that those 4+ pounds are not fat but water retention.

They are of no consequence for the challenge at this stage... The reason is that there are no eliminations and the only real weighing that counts is the one at the very end - and I suspect that everyone in team GOLD will want to maximise their weight loss in the last week... if we spend that last week being very vigilent regarding our sodium intake and drinking plenty of water we should be able to minimise water retention then...

I am not saying that we should all go high sodium until the last week - simply saying that the occasional surge does absolutely no lasting harm at all... A couple of days of drinking water at 1 ounce of water per 2 pounds of weight in the next couple of days tends to deal with it...

If you kept your calories at the right level and made a deficit in the calorie balance you will have lost fat irrespective of the 4 pound gain.

If exercise is hard for you - remember that it doesnt all have to be intense cardio... Walking is an excellent form of exercise - it was the single most important form of exercise that I utilised when I lost 168 pounds getting to goal a few years back... Yoga is another good form of exercise that can be less intense.

I am not saying that you should take it easy and always pick an easier option - I am saying that if your body tells you that you need an easier option that day - there are things that you can look at.

Back in 2008 I was in the winning team (OMEGA-3 -- there were three of us and we were fatty and acidic LOL) in a challenge that was going on across the time when I got raced into hospital from Wednesday until Saturday and had an emergency operation... I gained 8 pounds with the saline drips and had limitations on my exercise options... The fact is that a weight gain is not a fat gain and there is normally some form of exercise you can do. We used to play team games with weekly eliminations back then and it was the facts that we believed in maximising our exercise and nutrition points and we always kept our score sheets up to date that saved us when a team was eliminated when I gained weight like that...

Unfortunately I won't get my ex points today, had a slightly lazy morning...and ran out of time. I'll be doing the minimum for the rest of the week...sorry team!

I'm confused...

What exactly is the minimum?

Did you mean to say maximum or are you planning on doing nothing?

Well done everyone...

It is brilliant that so many people are maximising their challenge points by doing 1 hour of exercise per day.

Justina - it often happens that people exercise in a team challenge when they wouldnt otherwise do it - because they want their team to win and they want to do all that they can to make it happen.

Rod isnt well today so it looks like I will miss my salsa classes tonight... I normally do 3 salsa classes totalling at least 2.5 hours of salsa dancing on a Tuesday.

It is snowy so I will jump on the treadmill and get some steps in now. That will ensure I get some exercise done today.

Great job on the exercise Quercus, Justina, and Omega! I cannot even imagine hauling wood!

Omega sorry to hear that Rod (your husband?) is not feeling well and you have to miss one of your salsa classes. But glad to see you've already planned out some other exercise :D

Yes Xenon - Rod is my lovely husband. We have been together a long time and weight control is a major issue in our household...

Rod didnt address his weight when I addressed mine and got to be a very big person. This was a major worry to me as I know that he inherited a high cholesterol level from his father who died as he turned 47 of a heart attack due to his obesity level... I got very spooked by this as Rod approached 47 himself... I was afraid that history would repeat itself and I would lose Rod...

I was really scared when he needed 5 operations the year before last... His BMI was over 62 when he had his first operation...

Fortunately he got scared himself too - and has worked to bring his weight down...

He is still morbidly obese - but at a much healthier and less worrying level. We consider that he is quite slender now. :)

I do exercise for me - and then I often end up going out walking when Rod wants to do some exercise... My step count can sometimes end up at insane levels when that happens...

Tuesday exercise done:

As I mentioned earlier I think that I will not get to salsa tonight - but I did a walk outside and have done 5 miles on the treadmill at 4mph. So that is 1hr 15mins on the treadmill aside from anything else...

That is 2 more points claimed for GOLD!

Did my exercise this morning, and boy are my knees letting me know it.

40 Minutes of Zumba Activate
36 Minutes of Chalean Extreme Burn 1

I may also go walking with my best-friend this evening. I know that it will not count, but if she's up to it, I will go to motivate her.

p.s. Zumba is harder on the knees than I thought, and I didn't do any jumping:svengo:

Well done Transparent. Zumba can indeed be quite a tough exercise - but it can be so much fun too.

Hey guys, food is looking good today.
I will be doing an hour of exercise - I think it's gonna be belly dancing. Wont be done until much later though!

Hope you are all doing well!!!

Justina - an hour of belly dancing is brilliant exercise.
