Weight-Loss WL competition TEAM GOLD

Weight-Loss
Oh crikey.....that wasn't what I was hoping for!! *lol*

Erhm...challenge....okay.....

The challenge will consist of several elements:

1) Push-ups - 1 point for 10 pushups, up to 2 points per day. No half points or anything like that. All kinds of push-ups go - on the floor, on the knees, wall-pushups, whatever you can manage to do.

2) Food log - 2 points per day for a complete food log with food, drinks AND calories. No wild guesses please.

3) Pictures - I know this is a big ask, for me more so than for most others, but that's one of the reasons I put it up here - 5 points at the end of the week for a current picture (face can be blurred, of course), no older than 3 days (+2 extra points for a comparison picture from before the challenge began).

That's it. At maximum, the challenge should give you 4 points per day (28 pts/week), plus 7 for the pictures = 35 altogether. Hope that's not too bad.

Also, I would like to continue this challenge after it ends, starting on March 23rd, and running through to the end of June. Whether it will be a single player challenge or a team one will be determined by how many people are actually interested, but the general format should stay the same. I will start a new thread to gauge interest, then take it from there. Just thought I'd mention it here as well. :)

Justina - you are doing great. I used to gain every time I had TOM... Its water weight and will disappear after TOM. You are burning fat just the same. You will get an extra good weighing next week. Your extra good weighing can be our teams secret weapon for next week. :)

I've just posted this in the score sheet.

March 15 10st 13.8 i.e. 153.8 which is 2 pounds lost this week, 13.2 pounds (7.90%) lost in total
ex. points: 14 points i.e. 2 every day
mini chall. points: 21 points food/exercise/water logs *7 plus 4 days of 80 squats plus 3 days of additional exercise.

I'm pretty pleased with the weight loss this week. I had salmon twice this week including last night and that always helps my weight. My old gang (Kimberly, Dawn etc) used to all have salmon the night before any important challenge weighing. We swore by it... I'll make sure that I have it next Thursday. I am permanently counting my sodium and drinking my allocation of water too.

Thanks Omega - I hope I ll have a better weight loss week soon!

well done on your weight loss!!

Thank you! I'm quite happy with it myself, even though I am well aware that it won't stay that way, and will slow down. Been there, done that. But for now, it gives me a good incentive to keep at it.

Also, I have decided to go back to the gym, until I am able to use my treadmill again. I just checked, and with the reduction they offer for carers, it will cost me just over £ 10.00 per month for unlimited use, and even includes swimming. So I think that's pretty good. I also heard back from the Zumba people, and two sound quite good, so I will check those out next week. What's even better, my boss at work asked me if she could tag along - she's trying to lose weight, and she is interested in Zumba, but is very self-conscious, and didn't want to go on her own. So that's nice. :)

All in all, a good week, and I am starting to feel better within myself, which I think is contributing to the weightloss somehow. Not sure how, but....well....the numbers don't lie. :)

I have been meaning to get back in touch in reply to your comment the other day about visiting those zumba classes... I think that is a great idea. Its brilliant that you will have company for your visit too - such things are always nicer if you go with a friend.

The gym deal sounds excellent value for money. You will be able to do all sorts of exercise and make use of their expertise.

With the successful project you have going on - it is no wonder that you are feeling good. Your weight loss is fantastic.

Weight loss is always easier if we are feeling good about ourselves and proud of the direction that things are going. We like to keep having those good feelings so we are more inclined to stay on track.

I always think that "believing that it is going to happen" is fundamental to our success - especially with a big project... I know that for many years I honestly didnt believe that it would be possible for me... Luckily - I was wrong - but I do think that the change of belief set the 2007-2009 project apart from all those that had gone before.

Okay, since I have done dismally and actually put on weight, whether it was a combination of trying to break my plateau with increased eating or ToM, I don't know, but I won't let it break me, I am going to start back tomorrow with my increased intensity in exercising instead of the low impact walking and hopefully the weight will drop and with this, I will break through the plateau because this increased eating and low exercise have me feeling lazy and I don't want to end up quitting or getting too comfortable with my intensity level. sorry for the long post eom.

I'll have to weigh in the morning. I can't manage any mini challenges anymore. I was too tired to remember to weigh today, but it probably won't matter. I've worked 54 hours in the field this week and I still have two more days to go to finish the week.

Sorry team I'm doing the best I can.

So 328.0 for my weigh in. That's up 3.2 pounds from last week. My whole left leg is visibly swollen from foot to thigh and the rest of me is pretty beat up too. The belly measurement is down .75" from when my project started. That doesn't help for the contest, but I'm not gaining fat at least.

We all gain work at times - and it sounds like you are doing as good as you can within the constraints of your work commitments.

Are you sure that you didnt deserve any mini challenge points.

I see that you have earned 14 exercise points - and your work does sound fairly exhausting and like it incorporates an element of exercise. If you exercised for half an hour extra (i.e. 1.5 hours in total) that would earn you 2 mini challenge points per day too. The mini challenge of squats and skipping was altered to say that an extra half an hour of exercise would be just as good.

Sorry everyone I haven't been able to log back on till now
Alternative to the skipping either do 30 extra squats or for transparent if you do a extra half hr of any exercise you can still have the 2 points that's for anyone not able to do squats or skipping I have to be fair to everyone :)

I'm also sorry that the challenge wasn't posted till late but I didn't actually know I had to pick it :( sorry

Omega, I'm doing 10-12 hours of exercise a day with work. I'm on foot, often in the mud carrying a pack and digging holes all day. I didn't count any extra. I didn't even know what the challenge was so I can't say that I did anything for challenge points. If you want to ask the challenge person for a ruling I'll try to check back, but I have to go now.
