Thanks. And yeah, sometimes it is surprising that I can remember my own name to be honest. Every time I think I finally get some peace and quiet, something else crops up. The challenge, and having my eating and exercise to concentrate on, is actually helping a lot. And it makes me feel better to be doing something for myself - I've not done much of that for a long time now. And it was nice, coming into work (I work in a charity shop and only work one day a week), and my boss goes 'Oooh, somebody's losing weight!'....lol. I don't see it, but apparently others do, so I guess that's a good start. :)

Oh, and while I'm here, and about to head off to bed....

Saturday food log:
Breakfast:
2 slices of toast with cheese
snack:
1 white chocolate and cranberry cookie
Lunch: -
Dinner:
1 McChicken Sandwich (I know, not good, but Saturday is usually my cheat day, and it fit into the calories)
Snack:
Another white chocolate and cranberry cookie

That's it. Oh, and 2 ltrs of water, and 1 glass of Pepsi Max.

I know this is going to look bad but I slept late, then a quick reminder call woke me up because I had an afternoon meeeting, by the time I did my squats and prep for my meeting it was time to go, so I only had water before the meeting, it ran late, by the time I reached home it was after 5 and I realized that I had ate practically nothing all day, tried to get in as much calories as I could, but I know I have not succeeded, I have barely made 1200 and now I am headed out dancing.... (some days I wish my life had a slow or pause button).... So here's my meal for today.

B:(slept late N/A)
L:(was rushing to go to meeting N/A)
S:veggie straws
D:ppeas n rice, fried barracuda, garden salad, dinner roll, piece of cracked conch
Calories: ~1201

Exercise: walking after meeting - 1 pt.
Water: ~6C - 1 pt.
Mini challenge: done, but in stages

Tomorrow is housecleaning day, so I at least know that I will do better and consume more calories, also will expend more calories, but thems the breaks... :seeya:

I have posted a query in the other thread regarding Friday's mini challenge points.

The update to the rules was not posted until Saturday here.

I did not do any skipping on Friday. I did 50 squats and walked 9.74 miles. The walking was more than the hour needed for the challenge and more than the extra 30 minutes on top that would appear to qualify for mini challenge points. I also logged my food.

I have asked for a ruling as to whether I can claim all three mini challenge points for Friday.

Saturday was easy as I did all 80 squats.

To skip a minimum of 10mins a day (its hard work) and do a minimum of 50 squats a day, 2 points per day if completed.

for 1 extra point per day you must log your food, exercise and water intake.
If you can't log on everyday make sure you write it down to updated when you can log in.

you can earn a extra 21 bonus points by completing this 2 part challenge

hope this is ok with everyone?

The way I understand it, it's one extra point per day for logging food, water and exercise. And I just realised that I didn't log yesterday's exercise. *sigh*

If you think back you probably have a good idea of what exercise you did.

Thinking back - I didnt log exercise either - but thinking back I know that I did the following
- 1 hr salsa lesson
- 1 hr zumba class
- some walking bringing my total stepcount for the day up to 23,045 steps...
- 80 squats (for the challenge)

I'll bet that you took notice of at least the first hour of the exercise that you did so that you could claim challenge points... Maybe you took notice of how long you were walking or were wearing that new pedometer...

Slightly confused...do we still post food logs as part of mini challenge? Sorry... bit slow today

Yes - log food, exercise and water consumption AND
do 80 squats
or 50 squats plus skipping
or 30 minutes additional exercise

Thanks Omega, is the food log for every day?
I m glad we can do squats - i do not do skipping...same reason as transparent! :D (not the hip bit)

Yes the food log is every day. Thankfully - it is something that we can all do to earn points as there isnt anything to say that it MUST be healthy every day...

With boobies that need a JJ cup size because of the amount of loose skin that I carry - I know exactly what you mean... Its lucky that I do zumba in a close and friendly crowd of people... A few months ago I leapt up and broke a metal (semi-circular) rod in my bra framework in the middle of a zumba class... you should have seen me run out that room... We have too many ornaments about in this house to skip - and this 53 year old is not skipping in the street...

Thanks Omega. JJ, wow. I am an E/F. I haven't been doing anything bouncy exercise wise - I m more of stationary exerciser -most part anyway. That's the reason why I don't do zumba - even though it looks fun. I m majorly obsessed with my skin... well used to - more relaxed now - all my rules (water, exercise, supplements etc) helped me big time to maintain good skin :) despite my yo-yo-ing (70lbs up and down) :blush5:
So I love body sculpting, elliptical, walking, swimming. I did do hip-hop dancing in the past... I loved it!!! It was pretty hard core.

LOL - well Justina - when I was big I had very big boobs... View attachment 20159

this was me when I got to about 10 pounds above goal...

View attachment 20160
This picture was actually taken on that Greek holiday when no-one recognised me...

I've gained about 20 pounds from there - but still have big boobs...

You cannot be as big as I was without getting loose skin... I tried my best - took supplements and creamed my skin every day as I did my big project... My arms are good, my back is good... I have tons of loose skin on my tummy and boobs... It happens! I have letters from breast consultants saying that I "clearly need" breast reduction surgery.

Zumba is tons of fun... I encourage you to give it a go if you fancy it... Life is too short to spend it sitting on the side-lines wishing you could join in... I spent too long doing that!!! I will admit that I pick my locations - I have found a brilliant group of people that do zumba and a very encouraging and enthusiastic teacher...
If you fancy doing zumba or hip-hop or anything else - do it!!!

Could I ask - where do you go for your Zumba? I am seriously considering giving it a try, since I love dancing - I have caught myself actually half walking, half dancing on the treadmill when I have my headphones on...*lol* The thing is, with me still being very big, I don't feel like going to the Zumba classes around here. They are full of size 8 teenagers in spandex, and that's not really a place where I would feel very comfortable. Plus, I would not be able to keep up with them. :/

Wow Omega, thanks for sharing!!! I wouldn't have recognized you either!!
It's like 2 different people!! Amazing!

I actually enjoy body sculpting right now.. I prefer the class version too - but here everyone is lean & fit in the gym (I go to the fintess center in the Air Force base ) - so same kind of worries as San. When I was in Spain I went to a class every day - the music was amazing the fitness instructors were awesome! they were fun and full of energy...oh i miss that. Oh and I was fit too- at 200 lbs...can't wait to be there again...until then DVDs...& cardio room.

San - If you look on you can see a pretty full list of classes... The searches often do not work very well - especially based on postcode - but it is worth playing with it... As a clue - there are lessons just about everywhere so if it doesnt give you loads of options it is worth fiddling with the search criteria...

This website also gives you a means to contact the instructor - so you can send them a message and ask them things like the average age range in his groups and indeed any weight suitability questions like whether they have any classes already with a few fairly large people in...

"Zumba gold" is a version of zumba which is geared towards older people and less fit - but frankly I can see no reason why a less fit person shouldnt do a normal zumba class and just reduce the moves to an achievable level and phase things in as they get fitter...

For instance - this is the page associated with my zumba instructor...

I must admit that I initially liked several things - that caused me to consider it...
1/ He has classes at our local church hall
2/ I spoke to people that go that told me that his classes were really good
3/ I liked the idea of him being a qualified personal trainer and a dance teacher
4/ In his photo there are some mature looking women (which counts when you are 53)....
5/ I thought that the class prices were affordable...

This was taken at a zumba class at our local church hall and you can see that there are all ages and sizes there. I was not there that day. Rod has started going with me - and although he cuts out a lot of the steps and jumps he will be burning a ton of calories... He is currently about 23 stone...

With the right instructor - I honestly think that we can all enjoy such exercise - and feel good about ourselves for doing it...

Chris is sure to work everyone as hard as they can - and makes sure that everyone (irrespective of size) is feeling absolutely exhausted and covered in sweat... By the end of the hour - my hair is wet... Chris has said that there is no room for wallflowers in his garden... Any size 8 teenager that turned up in spandex would get the shock of their lives as they would be expected to get more exhausted and shattered looking than they had ever been before... We do have some slim teenagers (we think that they have a crush on Chris) but they certainly are not in spandex or there to judge anyone - they are too busy jumping until they are exhausted.

Justina - it is great that you enjoy body sculpting. It is great that you are doing the DVDs - but it seems a shame that you feel that the classes are not there for you at the minute...

In lots of ways - I would be tempted to phone round and see if you can find someone that runs a class where you would feel comfortable now... You are working hard and you will be back to 200 pounds before too long - but it is a shame that you are missing out in the meantime...

Think about how often you hear about there being an obesity epidemic... There are tons of larger people... And we are always being encouraged to bring our weight down to a healthy range... This is a vast market and I am sure that there will be instructors who are more than keen to work in this sector...

There are probably classes where you would fit right in - if you knew where they were.

Thanks. I will have a look around on the site. I just had a quick glance, looks like a lot of the teachers here have just a copy and paste description, which isn't giving a lot of detail. I have, however, found one that looks to be quite chunky.....I am not sure if that is a good sign or a bad one!! *lol*

I might drop her an email tomorrow, together with a few others.

Watching the video, I noticed several things: a) it looks like a ton of fun. b) I feel like I would look absolutely and utterly ridiculous even trying that c) I don't think those girls would ever stand a chance...;)) and d) now I want to go there. None of the trainers I saw on the website looked anywhere near as nice. All skinny females in their mid-twenties. :(

Silly question - since I couldn't see any kind of prices - how much do they charge for a session?

San I would advise you to go to Zumba and find a comfortable fit gym for you.

I know before I dropped my local gym due to financial reasons I opted to go in the mornings. In the mornings was a smorgesboard (did i spell that right:confused:) of sizes, fitness levels and ages, and at that time walking around the gym was not a hassle for me, for although let's just say I was 300lbs (I know it was more, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it:)), everyone there was into their own thing and no one was looking around, most of the gym goers were in ratty or loose shirts or undershirts, tights, cotton pants, the like, let's just say very few of us would have made it into a fitness magazine the way we were dressed.

Now the evenings were different, it was as though you were on a fitness runway, and some women even came in makeup:confused: this I never got. But the instructors I must say treated everyone different, they came on the side of you when it looked like you were struggling and talked quietly to you, gave you encouragement, well everyone except Mr. X, he did not care what your size was, when he said 'push it' he meant 'PUSH IT' being overweight or out of shape was not taken as an excuse for not pushing yourself in his class.

I also found that I pushed myself harder when I was surrounded by other people, I would look around the class, pick out a random person who was smaller than me, or maybe my size and say to myself, "If he/she don't stop, I won't stop" and it actually works. I am thinking of going back to the gym starting next month, so I could 'push myself' a bit more:).

I know the self-consciousness I felt, but I made up my mind that I was there for myself and no one else, and it actually worked... so I know it will work for you.:seeya:
