Weight-Loss What's for Breakfast???

Weight-Loss
Personally, I vary the oatmeal (its called porridge this side of the pond) - adding raisins, seeds, nuts, honey, whey protein, blueberries, bananas, strawberries to it. For a change I have muesli or high fibre bran an a banana. Whatever you use, count the cals - but remember, breakfast like a royal, its an important meal.

I'm not good for finding varying things to eat - I eat the same thing every morning.

Meal one - yogurt and small banana
Meal two - bowl of Kashi Go Lean High Protein High Fiber, .5 c nf Milk and another small banana.

I'm consistent if not exciting ;)

health magazine just recently had "jump start" diet in it - one of their breakfast suggestions was a mock banana cream pie

non-fat vanilla yogurt
1 slice banana
2 organic graham crackers - crunched up

mix together

i also like the tortilla factory whole wheat wraps (50 calories and 8 grams of fiber)spread with peanut butter, cinnamon and a sliced apple or banana) all wrapped up.

Oh man...I have to make this happen!

other suggestions health magazine has

1 frozen whole grain waffle w/ 1 tbs of all fruit spread topped with 1/2 cup cottage cheese and some fruit

blueberry ricotta toast
2 slices toasted whole grain bread
1/2 cup part skim ricotta cheese
1 cup blueberries

top toast w/ the ricotta cheese and blueberries

Oatmeal w/ frozen raspberries (defrosted) honey and soy milk

theres also the ziplock freezer bag omelettes -
make sure you use the freezer bags - the other ones melt.

into the bag add 2 eggs or egg substitute, some cheese, salsa, some chopped veggies, some chopped ham or turkey (basically whatever you like in an omelette) -and mush around so it gets mixed

while your mushing - put a pot of water on to boil - whenboiling - seal the bag and put in the put of water (i will attach the bag to a wooden spoon with a clothespin and suspend it across the top so the bag dosn't drag on th bottom of the pot)

go take a shower - 13 minutes later - breakfast...

I was going to post that I have my breakfast in a bag almost everyday
using egg sub 2& chedder and a little canadian bacon 150 cals 3 fat

Southbeach has peanutbutter cereal bars they taste yummy and a tad filling
140 cals 5 fat

I have a bowl of a healthy cereal every morning. Or at least a cereal that I think is healthy!

Normally I have Vanilla Almond Special K or Chex.

It suits me well until lunch time. I'm glad to hear that so many others have cereal as well... I was wondering if it is a good start to the day! :)

I like to slam a decent amount of calories for breakfast.

1/2 cup cottage cheese
1 large glass skim milk
bowl of oatmeal
fat free yogurt mixed with one big scoop whey protein to make a pudding. Energy for hours! I usually have to make myself eat my 9am meal.

hmm i usually have those ready-to-eat cereals for breakfast.. like honey bunches of oats (post), or cranberry nut crunch(post)..

You can also take your yogurt and banana and blend then for a quick breakfast shake if you don't have a lot of time for breakfast in the morning. I will do a large batch of this some mornings and then I know my kids are getting something healthy down them for the day! It tastes yummy too!

hmm...I have several varieties of oatmeal on hand so I can mix it up: Kashi Hearty Go Lean, Smooth Vanilla Go Lean, and Quaker low suger or weight watcher varieties...and then Kashi Go lean or Go Lean Crunch cereals. If I'm getting bored I add sliced strawberries, and as already mentioned, a small amount of nuts like almonds adds interest, crunch and fullness.

Also, I recommend the Dannon Light & Fit yogurt for in between breakfast and lunch; calcium, low calorie, carb & no fat.

On the weekends I love egg beater omelettes with tons of veggies like red pepper, mushroom, tomato and either lowfat or nonfat feta or Cabot 50% light shredded cheddar. This is a very filling breakfast!

One more thing; there's a local bread company here that makes a very hearty low carb bread with lots of fiber, seeds, etc, and it's thinly sliced but dense. this morning I had two slices toasted with a teaspoon or so of peanut butter on each slice. There's certainly fat in the peanut butter, but I don't seem to battle fatty foods nearly as much as carb-rich foods so I can allow for this, and really, a teaspoon of pb only has about 2.2g of fat, so if it fits in with your eating plan and you can find a good low carb bread, go for it! It tastes like a treat to me, and it's a nice change from oatmeal! (nutritional info for my breakfast this morning: 171 cal, 13g net carbs, 4g fiber, 13g protein, 4.66g fat)

Kashi's Heart to Heart cereal is really good. I know cereal probably isn't what you were looking for, but I have tried healthy cereals before and they just didn't work for me. This one has a lot of heart benefits and cute little heart shapes. :p

-Peanut butter on whole wheat bread
-Different varieties of oatmeal (Brown Sugar, fruity, etc.)
-Cold cereal with chocolate soymilk
-Wheat Eggo's

Hope this helps!
