Weight-Loss
varieties..

Japanese:
a bowl of japanese rice
miso soup
omelette
fruit

Indonesian:
fried rice with egg
OR chicken porridge

Singapore:
toast with kaya spread
half-boiled egg
coffee

Mine:
3 oreo cookies and apple/banana 2-3 hours later.. :D
yeah I know it's not ideal but I prefer a few minutes' extra sleep to eating a full breakfast...

5 minute oatmeal!

I mix in cinnamon, a scoop of protein powder, a teaspoon of pine nuts/almonds, a plum, and a teaspoon of coconut oil. Oh yes, and a teaspoon of molasses too.

Major yummsville, especially when served hot.

My breakfast is simply cereal with skim milk and water.

I found it hard to hold over until lunch the first few days after but eventually got used to it

I usually eat healthy cereal with 1% milk. No I don't do skim, I just can't. Then I have my fruit a couple of hours later to tide me over. Or sometimes, like this morning, I have a boiled egg with a piece of toast and just a wee bit of margarine and again, I'll have my fruit as a mid morning snack.

I usually measure out a cup of cereal the night before work and keep it in a bag to run out the door w/, I have skim milk here at the office (in our mini fridge) so I eat that alot...or I'll cook up some instant oatmeal.

It doesnt tide me over until lunch...but I dont do three full meals...I snack in between anyways, so its not a big deal...about 2 hrs after I eat that I will eat a handful of almonds and raisins or a piece of fruit or a yogurt :)

If I have time...like on the weekends I eat an omelet (3 egg whites and 1 egg yolk)

I eat a different breakfast each day, and rotate so that I get a variety each week.

1. egg, whole wheat bread toasted w/margarine, 1/2 grapefruit or whole orange.

2. oatmeal cooked with water, wheat germ added, raisins added, 1/2 grapefruit or whole orange.

3. 1 tblsp peanut butter on whole wheat toast, 1/2 grapefruit

4. wheat puffs, wheat germ, banana and 2 tblsp plain yogurt

5. 1 cup raisin bran with whole milk, orange juice.

I always have a mid-morning piece of fruit to hold me over for lunch.

On Sundays my husband likes to make blueberry pancakes. So I take two and then underdo cals at lunch.

I like a bowl of kashi oatmeal for breakfast. I sometimes add 2 tablespoons of walnuts and this gets me through until lunch. Even without the walnuts it is pretty filling because it is high in protein and fiber. If I don't include the walnuts I usually have a banana mid morning.

Most of those come to around 250-300 calories depending on what products you use.

Cut out calories by not using butter (or use low-fat/light products)
Be aware of bananas, a medium sized banana is around 100 calories.
Boil or poach your eggs rather than fry or scramble for lower calories:

Fried Egg 92 calories
Hard-Boiled Egg 76 calories
Poached Egg 76 calories
Scrambled Egg 100 calories (includes milk)

Also, if you love breakfasts that are bad for you, such as eggs, bacon, sausage, fried bread.. try boiling the egg, grill the meat and dab off any excess fat, toast your bread instead, don't use any butter.. etc.

Yay for getting rid of the little things that add up.

Here is what I eat for breakfast as well.

2 toast
.5 tsp. butter
1 egg
1 egg white
glass of water

equals 4 pts. or 282 cal.

I just have a bowl of porridge made with water and a cup of tea. I LOVE cereals but I can't control myself with them and end up snacking on cereal all the time. An egg breakfast has never really appealed to me but on the weekends I sometimes make a low fat verision of pancakes

Oatmeal is a good one

I have instant oatmeal almost every morning. Very nutritious and very filling. I find a bowl of oats fills me up and keeps me full a heck of a lot longer than bacon and eggs.... And a heck of a lot easier to prepare.

Some more ideas..

# Bowl of cereal with added raisins, or chopped fresh fruit and milk (semi-skimmed or skimmed)
PLUS toast with marmalade, using a low-fat spread
# Fresh or tinned grapefruit (in fruit juice, not sugar syrup)
PLUS bowl of cereal with milk (semi-skimmed or skimmed)
PLUS bread with reduced-sugar jam.
# Fruit juice or piece of fruit
PLUS baked beans on toast
# A little reduced-fat cheese and tomato on toast
PLUS banana
# Boiled egg with toast
PLUS mixed chopped fruit with low-fat plain or fruit yoghurt
PLUS bread or toast with jam
# Fruit juice or piece of fruit
PLUS bowl of porridge

I usally just have a bowl of cereal in the morning with skim milk (170 calories).

I am suprised no one mentioned "smoothies" as an idea.

And if you think about it, pizza would make a good breakfast :p. It has it carbs (the bread), the good carbs (the tomato sauce) and the diary (the cheese). (oh gosh...I haven't eating pizza in such a long time...I know I am gonna get slammed for this suggestion...but I think eating pizza is much better then a greasy egg omlette with bacon)

Breakfast Ideas?

Hi, I am woundering if people have an ideas of what I could have for breakfast as an alternative to Special K?
I like to have porridge (i.e. oats) but they give me an upset tummy.
Special K with added All Bran is OK, but looking at the packets, there seems to be quite a lot of sugar in them.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Oats are good, healthy cereal is okay, but I would recommend getting some protein in you too. Maybe some eggs or some cottage cheese.

My breakfast right now consists of some old fashioned oats, eggs, and some blueberries, and some snow peas.

smoothie for breakfast

I start every day with a green tea smoothie. I put in a banana, blueberries, yogurt, a natural protein/fruit and veggie powder, cinnamon to keep my cholesterol down and a packet of vitamin C powder. I haven't even had a cold in 3 years and this doesn't make me gain weight either.

For weight loss you could cut the banana as it's high on the glycemic index and also eat a hard boiled egg for added protein.

I usually have an english muffin as my base and have various toppings....cheese, egg, ham, veggie ham, low fat jam, peanut butter, etc.

Eggs, bacon and milk -the typical and best breakfast and I am having it for the past 24 years.I have had no problem with this combination .You could also add some cereal if you like
