Weight-Loss What's for Breakfast???

Weight-Loss
It kind of depends on how active you are, when/if you workout, etc.

But otherwise, regardless of that, I highly recommend cereal products from Kashi. They have protein in them which helps, plus it's all organic. They have one cereal called Autumn Wheat that is lightly sweetened and tastes very similar to mini-wheats, so you might want to try that to start out with. Some of their products almost taste like rabbit food, but there's several different ones. Even the more bland ones are still great if you eat fruit along with it. You may also want to consider soy milk, which also has soy protein, which is a slow-release protein, plus it doesn't have the overly processed nastiness of cow milk.

make time for breakfast. get up a half hour earlier. after a week it'll become routine. or make your breakfast the night before.

Thanks for all the replies :D I definately need to add more to my breakfast! I do have a question though and appoligise if it's in another topic, but whats wrong with egg yolks?

Claire

egg yolks are the part of the egg with the fat and a WHOLE LOT of cholesterol. an egg ehite contains about 20 calories, but a whole egg has about 75. I usually mix one whole egg with 2 egg whites, that way I get a little flavor from the yolk, but I'm eating mostly whites so its still a fairly low cal breakfast and very high protein. Egg whites are very bland.

I ate a drumstick ice cream cone for breakfast today >_> Under 400 calories, but 65% of my daily saturated fat...

I guess it's good that I don't eat meat, lol.

Cereal question...Well breakfast in general

Well when i get up in the moring im looking for quick and easy breakfast ideas.I guess im saying that i dont always have time to make a 6 egg white omlet and such.I really like cereal but which ones are good for you yet still healthy?

thanks in advance

high fiber cereals are amazing... because they help fill you up and fiber is fantastic for a healthy meal...

Kashi has some great cereals - but you can find other high fiber cereals out there; oatmeal is really good also, and if you get the instant, it takes no time at all... I put some water on to heat, open up the pack and pour in the water and enjoy!

I would look for something that has fiber and protein and not too much extra sugar. Right now in my pantry I have Special K Red Berries, Special K Fruit & Yogurt, and Kashi Honey Nut Toasted Oats... they are all less than 120 calories, have less than 2g of fat.

BE SURE TO WATCH SERVING SIZE! Most cereals only have you eat 3/4 c for the size, with 1/2 c. of milk... it may not seem like a lot - but especially with high fiber cereals, it fills you up.

Kashi is great.

Instant oatmeal is good for convenience, but the processing greatly reduces the health benefits as compared to whole oats (which only take 5 minutes).

Try to stay away from the "healthy" bars - most of them aren't really all that healthy - look at the ingredients, many of them are high in sugar, very low in actual fruit, and full of fillers and junk - if you see high fructose corn syrup - just put it back.

i'm not a fan of the kashi cereals - i think they taste like cardboard :D but there are a lot of good high fiber cereals out there - check the labels and find one with at least 6 -8 grams of fiber -and invest in some ziplock or glad sandwich bags -and portion out the cereal so youo can grab and go... (I hate milk on cereal so it's just easier for me to eat it from the bag)

I've been eating either Grape Nuts or Ezekiel cereal. Both are high fiber, high protein and low sugar. One serving is a half a cup, but VERY filling.

grape nuts are really good in yogurt... it softens them up just a bit and the yogurt adds a little sweetness to them...

Depends on which kind you get. They have an Autumn Wheat and also a cinnamon cereal that are both great and are sweeter than the rest, especially the cinnamon one. The Autumn Wheat is my favorite. 6 grams of protein per serving is nice. I've been eating a bowl of that with vanilla soy milk in the mornings, very easy, very good for you.

Kashi Go Lean Instant Oatmeal....Truly Vanilla. It's really yummy - - - but becareful - the high fiber can make you a bit gassy. But it tastes good and it's so good for you. Maybe add on a small banana for a really healthy start to your day!!
:p

Oatmeal, with a hint of honey and a bit of cinnamon. When I have oatmeal it keeps me full for hours. How about a couple of pieces of fruit

A lot of cereals are VERY high in sugar, and since I stopped eating sugar, I've really noticed this. Eating All Bran recently, I was surprised how sweet it was when I used to find it horribly bland. Turns out that sugar is ingredient #2, and malt is right next to it. Very high in calories.

whole wheat english muffin toasted with peanut butter, low cal jam, cheese, piece of ham, egg, etc. + a piece of fruit is a pretty easy breakfast.

For me its porridge oats (US English = oatmeal). With some added whey protein, raisins, seeds, etc - its the perfect breakfast for me, and I love it! When I was losing weight, I often used High Fibre Bran, often with a chopped banana added, but its not as nice as porridge.

I like a couple of the high fiber, low fat ones like Grape Nuts, mini wheats, and Cracklin oat bran (looks like cat food but tastes good).

What I have been doing is leaving yogurt, oatmeal packets, and special K bars at work for when I dont grab something at home.

I love the Baked Apple Oatmeal. YUM. I use fat free milk in it instead of water though. I never even thought of using whole oats. ha! Might try that. I also like Shredded Mini Wheats.

I also try to keep bananas and other fresh fruits handy.

High fiber cereals are good for you, but I find that it's not a good idea to eat a lot of fiber right before you go to work. You end up having taking a bathroom break before you even leave the house sometimes.

Because it's early in the morning, you don't have to worry too much about your sugar intake, just try to keep it natural. When you sleep, your body is in a fast for so long, when you wake up, the first thing you should do is get some sugar in your body.

If you eat cereal, stick to fat free milk and you should be good whatever you eat. Not too many cereals have a high fat content, and most are stuffed with vitamins and things. "Healthy" cereals are usually good, but it takes awhile to find out what tastes good.

My favorite thing for breakfast is a piece of toast with some natural peanut butter on it. Also, I used to have to leave for work before 4 in the morning and had to eat in the car. I liked special K bars, low fat or low sugar granola bars, bananas, cereal without milk, etc.

I don't know what diet you're on, but as long as you give your body the things it needs (good fats, good carbs, fiber, etc.) in the morning and not junk food, what you can eat is pretty flexible.
