Ooo that avocado-egg thing looks GOOD! Feels good to see the progress you´ve made, doesn´t it?

The avocado egg was surprisingly delish! Yes, feels good to be going to the gym regularly. A year ago I didn't think it was even possible with all the health issues I had, so I'm pretty excited!

Well done, Jen. Your progress is something to be proud of xo

Thanks, cate! You all have been a great support!

Happy Tuesday!

A few days ago, I ordered some creatine. I am one of the lucky ones that actually responds to it. After micro-dosing I hit the gym for cardio. I did 30 mins on the stair mill and the creatine definitely gave me an edge. I wasn't all amped up or anything, lol, mainly I was just able to do a more intense workout than usual. I also noticed my heart rate dropped about 10 beats per minute. Usually after 10 mins on L5, my heart rate is about 170, but today is was 160 and it never hit 180 (it usually does in the last 10 minutes of intervals). The highest it got was 178. It will be interesting to see how it affects my lifts tomorrow, if at all.

After 30 min on the stairmill, I walked on the track for 15 min and did 15 min of abs. According to my applewatch, I burned 531 calories. Not too shabby ....

So I'm flirting with the Whole 30 eating plan. My friend did it for 30 days and raved on about it and how I should try it. So, I have been sticking to it for a few days now, and so far so good. We shall see!

Here's my breakfast/post workout meal: boiled eggs wrapped in bacon and topped with avocado and blackberries

Plan on taking my camera to the park today with my dog as there are some hints of spring that I want to capture!

Have a great day all!

Ok. Keep this up and I'm going to have to break out a DSLR. Is that really a whole cup of blackberries? I would think there should be many more in a cup.

Not the biggest fan of the Whole30 to be honest. Any diet that lets me eat bacon (how´s that a whole food? it´s smoked, isn´t it?) but not legumes can´t be good for me. To each their own though :)
Looking forward to the spring pictures!

I used my Nikon D810 and 105 macro lens. It is 1/2 cup blackberries because I shared with hubby. :)

I am not complaining about the bacon! :p But yeah, some of the "rules" seem a bit arbitrary.

That does look delicious. I'm looking forward to Spring pics too :)

Hopefully spring pics today! Yesterday, I got to the park and realized I had forgotten my memory card

D810 and 105 macro. Game over. You win. I'll leave my DSLR on the shelf.

If you had a memory card in your brain you could use it to remember the one for the camera...

The good thing about a phone camera is it's usually with me and mine has room on the micro SD card that lives aboard.

Good morning!

I'm on day 5 of the whole 30. Cravings were BAD last night, so I ate 2 lara bars, which are compliant, but a little frowned upon. Anyway, I have noticed the W30 community can be extreme and super fanatical about the 'rules.' I am not strictly following the rules. First, I am counting calories because my goal is weight loss. Counting calories is against the rules. Weighing yourself during the W30 is also against the rules. I am weighing myself. There is sugar in my bacon (4th ingredient). So yeah, I am a rebel and rule-breaker. Who cares.

The good thing is, I am trying lots of things I normally wouldn't try on my own. Like butternut squash noodles, Kale salads, and Cauliflower rice! I've stopped dumping a 1/2 cup of Splenda into my coffee.

And I've stopped being the late-night Cookie Monster ...

So far so good, even though I'm not perfectly adhering to the 'rules.'

TGIF!

I like your version of the Whole 30 a lot better :) Yay for trying new things and not getting too worked up!

My friend added me to a W30 Facebook group and damn some of those peeps are super rigid. They deleted one of my reply posts because the poster was complaining how she only lost 2 lbs during the 30 days and she had faithfully followed the plan to a T. My reply was simply that she either count calories, exercise or do both the next time she does it. The body doesn't really care if it's 3,000 calories of organic chicken or KFC.

Anyway, my post was deleted and the moderator slapped me on the wrist for suggesting she count calories. Everyone agreed I was a bad person for suggesting such a terrible thing. Today, there are several new posts from people who are disappointed because they only lost 2 lbs in 30 days or no weight at all on the program and they are wondering what they did wrong. Can't mention calories, though - it's against the rules.

not an unusual response for some facebook groups lol. every way of eating has its fanatics.

as someone who has followed a ketogenic lifestyle for years and spent a lot of time looking at the science, it is frustrating when you see groups pushing things like bulletproof coffee thinking that it helps them and cannot be told otherwise and groups that ban people for pointing it out lol, There are science based groups online and then there are the cult groups who hate having science based reasoning go against their diet teachings.

Despite the fanaticism about the rules, it seems like this has been generally positive for you. I have mixed feelings about Whole 30, but do appreciate that it tries to curb sugar consumption.

Thanks for the support! Overall, I don't mind this diet too much. The sugar cravings have settled a bit, although I still miss my fancy creamer for my coffee in the morning. So far, I've lost about 5 lbs.

Unfortunately, our old dachshund is not doing well at all. She's 15 and her health has really gone down this past year. Last night I took her to the Vet ER because she was having trouble breathing and stopped eating. They told me she has congestive heart failure and possibly a brain tumor. I have her home with me and on medication, but all she does is sleep and she still won't eat. Talked to my hubby this morning and if she doesn't start eating by Friday, we are going to have her put to sleep. It's never any easy decision, but when they stop eating their quality of life can't be very good, imo. Hoping she feels better and we have a little time left with her, but I kinda have a bad feeling about this.

It is hard facing the loss of a family member, hang in there and hope for the best
