Good morning and happy summer to all!

Things are moving along ...

Weight - 178 - loss of 22 lbs! I am not losing fast, but steadily, and happy with the results so far. 22 lbs since mid-Feb puts me at about 5 lbs month or a little over a pound a week. I have lost all of it following the whole 30 my way. I'm on round 3 now, but I'm using ketchup sweetened with honey and poppyseed dressing. I also allow myself protein shakes. But besides that I follow it pretty closely - no bread, dairy, legumes, etc. I have found I don't miss those things much at all, so why even bother with them? Okay, I lie, I miss cookies and cakes a bit but not for the right reasons, lol.

The house is also moving along. I find myself getting stressed about every little thing, though. I suppose this is somewhat normal during a custom build. I pretty much wake up every morning thinking about the house and something I need to add or tell the builder. I'm sure I'm driving him a bit crazy at this point, but I want it to be right. Here is where we are at:

I'm also enrolled in a real estate class, which I take twice a week for 3 hours. It's a ton of work, but so far I am keeping up with it all. Hoping to be licensed in Sept!

I need to exercise more ...

Hope all is well with everyone! :)

O wow, the house is going to look amazing  I´m not surprised you aren´t exercising a whole lot with all the stuff you´ve got on your plate but I´m very impressed you´re still losing weight through all of it!

Hi, Jen. Your house looks sensational. Well done on steadily losing a pound a week. That is consistency & determination! It's nice to hear from you xoxo

Between the house and my real estate licensing class, life has been a bit overwhelming. I am down to 175 now, so 25 lbs gone! It's not fast, but it's moving in the right direction. I have been swimming lately. Did 40 mins of laps this morning.

All kinds of stresses with the house. Building a house is not for wimps. It's a ton of choices and decisions and sometimes even doing other people's jobs, unfortunately.

The real estate class is overwhelming. It's just a ton of info and the pass rate for the state exam is 57%. So, I spend a lot of time studying, and when I'm not doing that, I'm working on the house.

But today I went to the pool and I'm getting ready to go get my hair done, so taking a little ME time today.

Have a great weekend!

Continuing to lose weight among all the stress is admirable, Jen. Well done. We built this house & the number of decisions you need to make is mind-boggling. I remember actually yelling at the electrician "what do you mean what colour power points?" & when he calmly showed me a few of the alternatives, including one that was almost identical to our wall colour I did feel chastened & said: "That one please, Bryan. Sorry."

Good morning!!

Well, I passed the State Real Estate Exam this week! OMG it was the toughest class/exam I have ever taken in my life. I have been studying, on average, 3-5 hours a day since May. So I am VERY glad it's over and I passed the first time. Only 51% of people who took it last month actually passed it. No idea why it's such a hard license to get, but it's one of the hardest!

Unfortunately, I did some stress eating before the test and I am up to 178.4. Only a few pounds, but I would like to put the breaks on it now, rather than gaining back more. So I am recommitting to this diary, where I can keep track of what I eat and be held accountable by you awesome people! Also, since I no longer have to study and have 3-5 extra hours on my hands each day, I am also going to exercise. I have been exercising, just not consistently. I'd like to get back to a routine of sorts similar to how I was last winter.

My calorie goal will be to stay under 1500. I'm following the Whole 30, with some adjustments. I will have salad dressings, Lara Bars, protein shakes, ketchup ...

Here's the food plan today:

Exercise goal: Walk dog and swim for 40 mins.

Have a great day everyone!!!

Well, I blew it last week. I don't even know what happened. I was holding steady at 178 until this morning -- 182! Fawk.

I'm can be very "All or Nothing" when it comes to food/diet. I really didn't do too badly this week, but yesterday my daughter wanted spaghetti, and let's just say I got my fill of carbs.

So, it's a new week, new day, and time to start over. I am going to try using my aphorisms each morning and throughout the day to keep me on track.

"Today I am going to feel great about following my eating plan"
"Today eating off the plan is not an option"
"Today I will enjoy my exercise for at least 45 minutes"
"Today I will treat my body with love and respect by eating healthy and exercising"

The Plan:

I need to take some new pics of the house because it's further along then these pics, but I kinda want to wait until it's painted and stuff -- anyway, here is the kitchen where I will be eating HEALTHY and following my PLAN, LOL ...

Wow, you´re kitchen is huge! Amazing design.

Thanks! :)

Your kitchen will be wonderful & you will prepare such healthy meals in there :)

I sure hope so! :)

I did go off my plan yesterday but not so much I screwed it all up. I didn't feel like going to the grocery store, so I found substitutes at home. Overall, not a bad day, although I could have done without the peanut butter, lol. I went for a nice swim since it wasn't too hot.

Today, the plan is to fast (500 cals). Testing out cate's 5:2 plan. :)

Plan:
2 boiled eggs - 140 cals
Protein shake - 140 cals
Lara Bar - 210 cals

Wish me luck!

Don't forget to drink plenty of water & don't try to do too much. I also need a little salt on FD's. I bet you lose faster than me :)

Love your house design! We have been remodeling our fixer upper for the last 10 years, and are finally finished enough to unpack the whole inside of the house, so I know the stress you are going through. It's great you are keeping after the contractors and reminding them of things. We had to do some small change orders because people forgot what I asked them to do, so it's good you are reminding them, even if they seem to think you don't need to!

I am in awe you got your realtor license AND lost weight while remodeling!

Best of luck!

Thank you!! :)

I tried to stay really busy so I wouldn't think about eating! It was tough, but not as hard as I thought, and this morning I felt GREAT! :D

Yes, I have learned a lot about myself during this build -- I do not like confrontation, for one. Also, I tend to assume people know what I mean when they actually don't (imagine that - people cannot read my mind, lol!) , so I need to be more "literal" and straightforward when I'm explaining my needs/wants to others. There have been a few missteps along the way - some not my fault and others the result of me not being straightforward or wanting to avoid confrontation. But I figure I can change things on my end and their end is for them to fix. :)

So, I made it yesterday!!!! I fasted successfully!!! It wasn't as bad as I thought. Bit tough at night but I just went to bed early. Yesterday morning, I took my dog to the park and we walked a trail we hadn't walked before. It was pretty deep in the woods, and I must be watching too many true crime shows, because I was super paranoid someone was going to jump out of the woods!! LMAO. Ah well, next time I bring some mace for peace of mind?

I still have not gotten my real estate license, and it's been over 2 weeks. So, I call last Friday and they tell me my license is on hold due to my criminal background check. Many of you know I am a recovering alcoholic, well in 1996 I got a DUI. Never got another, thankfully, but the commission wants me to basically write an essay on the DUI and what happened. I think it will be okay and they will still give me a license, but it's a good reminder to me that my drinking had consequences, and I'm going to be dealing with them for a long time, even though I have been sober for over 10 years.

My meal plan today is to stick to the Whole 30 (my way). My girlfriend is going to do it with me, so that will make it easier. My next fast day is Friday!!

Strange they didn´t contact you to tell you what the hold-up was. I´m sure you´ll ace that essay (and maybe even learn something from it). If you´re combining Whole 30 with fast days please make sure you still get all your nutrients in.

Yay, you fasted! I have yet to try that, but really want to!!

I have a friend who is trying to get sober, and feel like I can't help because I haven't been through that. I wonder if it is anything like using food for comfort and if it would seem insulting to try to relate to him in that way? Sorry you had to go through that and really happy you are in recovery!
