Cohen's Lifestyle Tips for a Cohen Newbie...

Prefix for Cohen's Lifestyle
Hi Cuddlebones! :waving:

Well, if it's inspiration and support you are after, then you've found the right place! I only really joined this forum a week ago, and it has been a god send :)

I'm almost 6 weeks into Cohens already (WOW! It goes quick after the first week!) and am LOVING IT. To risk sounding like a cliche, it really has become a way of life now. And what a good life it is!

Good luck, and I look forward to hearing more from you!

(P.S. I'm 'decisionmaker' because I had a revelation that everything I put in my mouth is a decision I am making about my health and my happiness. I am in control and I can make those decisions :blush5:)

Hi cuddlebones, I too started my cohens journey just over a week ago & I had lost 4.4kg over the first week. This is the second time I have tried to change my lifestyle with Cohens and I have to admit I am finding it much easier this time as I have found this forum and so many new friends to support me!!
I dont think my name needs any explanation. :smilielol5:
Good luck and I am sure I will see you around on the boards!

Thanks for your replies decisionmaker and Wannabesexy and for your welcomes too.:hurray:
It is great having this forum to chat and to remind ourselves why we don't want to deviate - I should probably be doing some work to prepare for school as it's only a couple of weeks away now but for now it's all about me!
Looking forward to getting smaller together:willy_nilly:

Hi buddy! :seeya:
Thanks for the congrats.

I'm just about to head off to beach volleyball... Will be eating my crackers and fruit in the car on the way there! I'm still getting really tired, and can't even fathom going to a gym, but team sports like this are more about fun with my mates.

I just cleaned out my wardrobe and am already starting to fit into old pants... WOOP!

xx

Hi Cuddlebones!! You'll do great!

So I had my BF% done yesterday and I am chaning my goal from 130 to 145. At 145 I will only have 21% Body Fat, with my current lean muscle mass, which shouldn't go any lower from here.

M Doctor and trainer both agree and my Doctor thinks 150 is more appropriate, but I know I can get to 145, perhaps even 140, but then I lose too much lean mass or too low of Body Fat.

So.. that is why my ticker has changed. The online consultant was ok with it, and just wants me to keep them updated.

I get BF% ready every 4 weeks, so I will keep playing it by ear. This should put me on re-feed in about 6-8 weeks... so we shall see!!!

Thats great Az, as long as you feel healthy thats the main thing! If you reach 145 and feel good about continuing talk to your online consultant then. Thats what I think!

Thanks AZ.
Go you!! you seem really focused and intent on ensuring your good health. Glad to have you here for support along the way and to lead us newbies back if we stray -dare we not!! xx

Wow! You are going so well - you've come such an enormous way already! Soon you'll have to put up some before and after photos :)

It's great that you are seeing a doctor with this too. I'm a little scared because everyone I speak to gives me lectures about how I'm losing it too fast, and I'm a little sick of defending the whole thing. So I'm afraid that my doctor might say that too, and I respect him so much that I don't want to hear it from him!

Well done in changing your goal weight - It must be really exciting to almost be there.

Hi CohenInAz, Congratulations sweetie on the 50lb loss. I envy you your body fat ratio. I'll have to go to a gym I think as I have no idea about how to develop the muscles I want & reduce my leg flab! Ugh! I've been walking/riding my exercise bike but....
Anyhow, this is about you! Well done!!! Cheers, Cate

I've known all along there was no way I'd be 130, as when I started COhen I had 129lbs of Lean Muscle Mass (LMM)... which meant I'd have less than 1% body fat, which we all know is not possible.

Slowly on the diet, I've lost LMM, which is bad, but also needed as 130 lbs of LMM is A LOT for a female. Ideally I want to be at 112 lbs of LMM, which pts my weight at 136 lbs I think?.

I had some much LMM because of
  • How Heavy I was.. you need more LMM to support more weight
  • How much I had been working out!
  • I was on Crew (rowing) for over a year and had been working with a personal trainer to get my 105 LMM higher starting in 2006 and shot up like a rocket to 125 LMM before the massive weight gain...

OH... but what I did realize is I don't post pictures here... and I will now. I am also over at the "Official" forum with the same user name. I know Cate has seen them :)

But here is this weeks picture. I do them every week. This is just one, but I do all 5 views...

Hi CohenInAz- Thanks for putting your pics on here too. I think it really helps others when they can see the difference in your photos, as sometimes it's hard to see it in ourselves. I wish I had done the same as you, wearing the same clothes, taking photos at different angles etc. I barely took any photos during my weight-loss. I had this vision of me being in a cocoon & emerging at the end, not quite as a butterfly but if I could have gone away & done it I would. You are looking great! Well done. Now this Wii thing looks like fun.....Cheers, cate.

AZ you look fantastic! Huge congratulations, and well done for being organised enough to take such good photos. You are doing brilliantly! What an inspiration!!! :hurray:

Thanks guys...

I am sort of behind schedule.

I did the 1/2 Marathon on Sunday so 13.1 miles, walking so not too difficult. I think I could have kept going. I took off yesterday from work as a "recovery". I was also off plan for the 2 days before the 1/2 and back on yesterday. I had carbs and bananas, but stayed healthy.

I freaked out as I gained 3.5lbs the day after the 1/2... it all fell off today, bt still caught me by surprise.

I also haven't done pictures yet this week... so I will need to tomorrow...

My 16 weeks is on Saturday... but I've been off plan for more days than on plan this month, with vacation and the 1/2 marathon. I hope I drop a bit in the next few days, as this 4 week weight loss is going to look horrible! Ha!

But I am back on 100% so thats all I can do. I've lost a lot of inches this month though, so it will all work out in the end :)

So I was 100% on the 20th

75% on the 21st

50% today.... doh....

Tis ok... I have the weekend coming and I seem to be ok starting out on Friday and going into the week... I shall be OK!
