Weight-Loss The Amazing Race Challenge Omega-3 Team

Weight-Loss
I finally figured out when :reddevil: last visited me...lol. He's due back in just a few days, so I will probably gain a bunch of weight over the weekend (eating high cal today and over the weekend won't help any, either  ), but should have it back off by next Friday. Last time my weight was 221.5 the day before :reddevil: arrived, and was 224 the day of his arrival, then back down to 221.5 the next day.

I am so jealous of a two day impact. Not jealous of your metabolism though - so dont think I am complaining. I am relieved that you both dont react the same way that I do.

So get this--yesterday I weighed in at 220. Today I am 223.5!!! This makes me think :reddevil: will arrive any second! :ack2: I mean, I did eat almost 3400 cals yesterday and didn't exercise at all, but still...it would go up a lb or 2 at the most normally--not 3.5lbs in one bloody day...hahaha no pun intended. :D Well, if :reddevil: does arrive, I guess that means I'm not preggers. :(

Well we will be hoping of course for you to be preggers. If it turns out not then for sure make the most of this next month! And if you have a fairly regular cycle (28days) then you should be able to count ahead 14 days and know that the day it falls on will be your best chance.

Up until I started paying attention to my weight I never noticed that I actually LOSE weight at the beginning of my cycle. Weird I know. But I always seem to get a big drop.
I am sure that yours will work itself all out. But WOW what a difference from one day to another.

Kimberly - That is a huge weight gain to happen in one day. It is great that you know that it happens. If you werent expecting it - a gain like that you be quite a shock.

I suspect that none of us realised how our weight fluctuates as the month goes on. I certainly had no idea. Probably because I spent ages hiding from the scales one way or another. Weighing every day has certainly enabled me to understand my body better. I really dont know why all the experts are so set against it.

Exercise for the new week is well underway.
So far I have done:

3 hours walking on Friday
3 hours walking on Saturday

No :reddevil: yet, but I know he's due any minute...lol

Some people cannot handle the psychological issues of the daily ups and downs of one's weight. They get discouraged and freaked out by it. So I guess for those people it's better that they just do it weekly.

Wow, Margaret--you've got 6 more hours in than I do..:smilielol5: I need to step it up. When the weather's bad, it's so hard for me to exercise on the weekends due to my dad being in the den where my bike is until late at night. Also, my gym closes early on Sats, and is closed all day Sunday. :ack2:

Bella is that 14 days from when TOM ends or begins?

Kimberly - pop into
and set up yourself an account. It costs nothing.
Feed in the whatever period data you have (it may just be a month or two worth) and it has an ovulation calculator. It will tell you exactly which days give you the best chance. It also predicts when you will get your next period.

Thank you! I just went there and registered. The first few days of H's Spring Break are my most fertile..lol. I think a romantic weekend getaway is in order. ;)

I just calculated, and :reddevil: came exactly 28days after the last one did. :reddevil: was never regular unless I was on the pill. I haven't been on the pill since about 2002. :svengo:

Weight was down a lb from yesterday to 222.5. I'm going to go for a walk when I get back from Easter dinner...lol I'm sure I'll need one! We're going to Big Boy's--deep fried mecca. :ack2: Maybe I'll get a club sandwhich instead.

A well-timed romantic get-away sounds like a very good idea. I am sure that you will both enjoy it.

The obvious reason is that you have somehow caught my regular 28 day cycle over the internet! Quite how that can have happened - I couldnt say - but they do say that friends start to cycle in step sometimes.

It is good that you are down a pound. That is what we like to see.

Enjoy your Easter dinner. The walk sounds like a good idea too if the weather is up to it.

Well I have been out walking again today. I got another 3 hours of exercise in so that brings me up to 9 hours so far for the challenge.

:hurray: Only 25 more minutes, and you'll have your max exercise minutes in! :hurray:

I forgot to mention that :reddevil: arrived Sat night..lol. :ack2:

I did get in a loooong walk--for me, at least. :D I was only going to do 4 miles, but then before I'd even gone a quarter of a mile, I figured I might as well take advantage of the opportunity to get some time in. I ended up doing 6 miles in 100 minutes. :hurray:

Easter dinner was good and bad..lol. My weekend of eating debauchery is over, and now I must behave the next 4 days..lol :angelsad2:

Been out on my long walk as per normal. My max exercise minutes are now fully complete.

Well done on going out on your own long walk. I am pleased that you finally got the weather where it was an option for you.

I am pleased that you enjoyed your Easter dinner. We all deserve the pleasure of being a little bit bad at times. We didnt get round to having our Easter dinner. We had got a large piece of pork that we were going to roast for Sunday and Monday. Then we didnt get it put into the oven early enough. When we remembered and checked the weight - it would have been cooking until after 10pm. We rearranged our plans and ate something that we had been going to have during the week. The pork will go in to roast this afternoon.

Wow you guys have been busy.
I go to work for one day and your just chatting up a storm! LOL
I felt better yesterday so headed off to work.
Made it thru the night just fine. Though I did have a bit of a headache still and towards the end of the night I had some serious "breezy" issues!!! LOL
I am having an unfortunate side effect to having just been sick.
I have not had any significant bathroom usage since late on Friday.
So of course my weight is high.
190.8
YIKES!
I have to imagine that at some point it will get back to normal. Hopefully that will be before the weigh-in on Thursday/Friday.
I am planning on eating my Salmon M-T-W and Th. At 4oz each that will give me my pound just in time.
And even though it is Spring Break here the girl who teaches all my classes at the Y is still having her classes as she is not going away. So I plan to get all my travel time in, in the next four days as well.
You guys are going to think that I am always doing everything at the last minute!!! LOL
Stupid FLU!
Catch ya later.

Margaret--Your Easter dinner sounds like something I'd do..lol. If you lived in Spain, eating dinner at 10pm would be normal..haha

Congrats on getting in all your exercise pts so fast. :hurray: Looks like you've also hit a new low. :D

Bella--I will be the last to chide you for doing things last minute, as I'm the Queen of the Procrastinators. Bow down and worship--or throw rotten eggs..lol. :D

I'm glad you're feeling better. Don't worry about that scale. Just eat lots of fiber this week, and you'll dump that pound in no time--pun absolutely intended. :D

My weight was 224 today. :ack2: I guess not even a 6 mile walk could make up for my easter dinner..haha. Maybe it's just water..lol. Well, I'm sure I can get rid of it by weigh in day.

We hardly ever ate before 10pm in Greece - but it ended up being quite a hard habit to break ourselves of when we were back here. We only managed to get to eat at a more normal time last year and we are not getting back into that way of doing things. It leads to nibbling too much earlier in the evening so did not really help weight loss.

Yes - I did get a new low today. 10st 11.8lbs so 151.8 pounds. It is just a fifth of a pound under my low weight - but it is always nice to get a new low.

I am sure that both your weight will be down soon. Both weight increases will certainly not be fat - so if you both keep drinking water that is bound to help. Water doesnt just help the sodium / water retention side of things. It is also reccommended to help on the constipation side of things too.

I think my H would fit in very well with the Meditteranean dining culture, as he loves to eat dinner late. He thinks it's very civilized...

Weight was down a lb to 223. However, on Tuesdays I have to weigh in about 3hrs earlier than normal, so I think it might've been 222 or 222.5 had I weighed in at my normal time.

I'm up to 141min of exercise thus far, and plan to get in an hour's worth today.

I'm up to 3hrs 23min of exercise so far this week, and we're meant to have sunshine and temps in the low to mid 40s (5-7C) for Weds, so I'll go for an hour-long walk.

Kimberly - Well done for getting that exercise done. I hope that the weather is up to expectations - as another walk would be more great exercise. Also a reduced weight at an earlier time of day is a very good sign. My weight often comes down over half a pound during my morning walk (if I can stop myself from eating or drinking anything while I am out). Good luck at the scales for when you weigh yourself at a normal time - you could be looking at a great loss.

I went all day Tuesday with no honey shreddies in a feeble effort to try to force my weight down. I really am an addict!

Did your shreddie fast work?? lol

Weight was down another 1.5lbs from yesterday to 221.5 today. My goal is to get to my lowest weight of 219 by Fri. That would give me another lb loss for the week. I'm hoping to hit a new low even, maybe. :blush5: Luckily, :reddevil: didn't affect my challenge weigh ins this month. :hurray:

Eating salmon and going without shreddies seemed to work quite well. Weight down to a new low today - 10st11.4 or 151.4 pounds. I am trying my best to keep things down for the end of the week so had some salmon in a salad earlier on and have managed to have no honey shreddies again so far today. It is a real result that TOM has not affected your challenge weighing this month. :hurray:

Dawn - how is the salmon eating going. I have had 14 ounces so far - so could manage it really easily if you encounter any problems. Having said that - we always knew that I probably eat the required quantity of salmon most weeks - just I dont normally weigh it.

Well, my plan for today was to go look at a few houses this afternoon and then go for a walk. While looking at the last house, a client called wondering if we could get into the house I emailed him earlier. It is a real bargain, and sure to go quickly, so I hustled and got them in. Then they wanted to write an offer, so I spent the whole evening at my office, only to have them get cold feet after talking to a friend. :banghead: I didn't get home until nearly 11pm and have had a headache all afternoon and evening. I didn't eat dinner and am not going to. I'm tired and heading to bed. Obviously, I didn't do any exercise so Bella, how much have you done so I know what I need to get in tomorrow--b/c that's gonna be a busy day as well, and the less I have to do, the better. Sorry!! :blush5:

Kimberly - I am sorry to hear that you have had such a difficult day on Wednesday. All that stress only to end up with no reward for your efforts. I am so pleased that I am not contending with the problems of working at the minute. Life is so much pleasanter - even though there is obviously less money coming in. I hope that the headache has gone by the time that you read this.

I certainly understand how sometimes life and its pressures can get in the way of our weight loss project. I will certainly understand if either of you do not manage to get the exercise done. Although we like to do well - at the end of the day it is only a game to try to keep us focused.

Well it is Thursday morning here (currently 7.30am). I hopped onto the scales to get an idea about my weight - and I got the same as my weight for yesterday - which if you remember was a low weight. That means that I am certainly looking at a challenge weight loss for the week - not huge - but every loss helps. I will go out walking in a while and weigh again later before I decide which will be my official weight for the day.

EDIT - got another new low today.

Week 4—Vancouver to Auckland 18hrs 5min.

Detour is to either 1. Eat a kiwi fruit everyday or 2. Eat 8oz of lamb over the course of the week.

Each team member must complete...

Obviously the 9 hours plus will be no problem for me. It should be completed sometime on Monday.

I will sort out buying some kiwi fruit today.
EDIT - bought my kiwi fruit.

I will not be dressing up to eat the kiwi fruit.
