Weight-Loss The Amazing Race Challenge Omega-3 Team

Weight-Loss
As you know I made cabbage soup using over 5 cups of cabbage and made a pan of soup which I divided into 5 equal containers.

I have now had three of those containers. That is therefore equivalent to three cups of cabbage.

In addition - Sunday we had roast chicken and I had 2 cups of cabbage in my mountain of veg. I cooked my cabbage seperately to make sure that I got my whole two cups worth.

That means that I have now had my five cups of cabbage for the challenge. How are you both going with the cabbage?

I wish that my weight was going down better. Each day I hope for better success in that area. I am beginning to wonder if the pulses in the cabbage soup is hindering my weight loss.

Well, I've got 1hr 15min of exercise in so far, and ate 1 cup of cabbage soup at lunch today--it was at a restaurant (Big Boy's), not homemade. But according to their menu, 1 cup only has 49calories--I ate more than a cup of soup, but there was a ton of cabbage in it, so I'm sure it was at least 1 cup raw.

Congrats, Margaret, on getting in all your exercise and cabbage consumption so quickly. :hurray:

How's our Bella doing? :)

Bella's doing good! :hurray:
I just got done with my PowerCore class so that puts me at 1hr down.
If the sun is shining tomorrow and the temps up I plan to go for a nice long walk. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
I have had 1 cup of cabbage. Funny thing is it was during a church pot-luck! Someone apparently brought in a cabbage dish. I was piling the cabbage on right along side my California blend that I brought.
It wasn't bad. In fact it tasted pretty good. Though whoever made it really liked pepper so had a ton of it on there. Whew was I sweating when it was all said and done.
So 3 hours and 17 minutes to go and 4 cups of cabbage.
I got this in the bag.

Hi Dawn

I see that you have done one hour and believe that you have another 3 hours and 17 minutes to do. I suspect that is because the instructions said

Week 1—Chicago to Moscow 12hrs 50min. This averages out to 4hrs 17min of exercise per person. Remember your team doesn't have to split it up that way. See the rules if you need to jog your memory regarding this.

If you recall – Kimberly put in the team thread

Hello ladies! So since Margaret will easily get half of this week's exercise in (6hr 25min), that leaves 3hr 15min each for Bella and me. :D Is that ok with you, Margaret? :D

you can mark me down as having done the full 6hr 25min that I am allowed to do this week so it is all systems go for you dividing the rest as you see fit.

Since I completed my 6 hours and 25 minutes on Saturday – that means that your share is 3 hours and 15 minutes.

Since you have already done one hour – you have another two hours and fifteen minutes to do. Naturally log further minutes just in case Kimberly sustains an injury or becomes ill as her minutes are not complete either.

If either you or Kimberly became ill or injured the other would have to take up the slack as I am already contributing the maximum minutes allowed under the rules. I am sure that Kimberly is very much aware of this so it is probably a good idea for you and Kimberly to give each other updates (possibly daily) as to how much exercise is already completed. She has posted that she has done 1 hour and fifteen minutes of exercise so far.

I will put this message in both the team thread and your diary to make sure that you see it.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Whew, yesterday was busy! I didn't get on the boards at all. I didn't eat any cabbage either..lol. But I did get in 30 min of exercise, and plan to do another hour at the gym today, bringing my total so far to 1hr45min, and will be 2hr 45min after my hour today. I shouldn't have any trouble getting in my exercise, and I will make the cabbage soup this afternoon.

You must have been busy to keep you off here all day. Well done for getting the exercise in on such a busy day. I must admit that I am pleased that I didnt have to have too much cabbage at once - but having said that V (The Krinse) appears to have eaten all her cabbage last Friday at one meal. I know that you will eat all four remaining cups - just you may feel a little cabbaged-out afterwards.

Heylo~
I finally got around to making my soup today as I have been soooo busy this week there literally wasn't time to do it.
So I have now had 3 cups of cabbage. Four of them were in my soup and with 2 cups left I think I will make the challenge just in time! LOL
Haven't done any formal exercise yet today.
This time around I am not counting my swimming lessons as exercise 'cuz they changed up who I am teaching and I am not really "swimming". As I am teaching the babies I do alot more standing than anything else. Though I do teach 3-30 minute classes to some Pre-Schoolers every week. I still do not swim from end to end of the pool.
So this time around it will strictly be exercises only for me.
If I can get out for a walk here this afternoon I will be up to 3 hours. I plan to go for at least 30 minutes.
Hopefully I will also have the gumption to jump on the elliptical as well.
Well the dinger just went off for dinner so I gotta go. :seeya:

I've got 2 cups down, and 2hrs 25min of exercise in. Thanks to my H and co-workers (and my tendancy to gab), I never made it to the gym. I did do 40 min on the bike at home, though. 50min and 3 cups tomorrow. Yes, I am a procrastinator. *sigh*

I am right there with ya! LOL
I never did get to that walk as dd wanted me to sit and watch a movie w/her. And after everyone (kids) went to bed I decided to hit the grocery store instead of the elliptical.
So I have 1 hour and 17 minutes of exercise to get in. As well as 2 cups of cabbage.
Care to join me in the last minute rush? haha

LOL. I have no choice but to join you. :D Margaret is probably shaking her head at us. The good thing is, I will be stuck at home all day tomorrow, so I will have plenty of time to eat the cabbage, and I'm planning on doing a Turbo Jam dvd and getting on my bike.

Well, I hope one of you wants to do the roadblock this week, as I am not good at that sort of thing. :D

If M does her usual 50% (8hrs 23min this week), that'll leave 4hrs 15 min each for Bella and me.

I am glad that it is not me rushing around last minute trying to get the exercise and cabbage in - I really would not like the stress. I do have every faith that you will do it though.

If for any reason - either of you get injured you will want the other to pick up the exercise slack so it would be great if you both posted on the thread that the exercise is done so that the other knows that their share is enough.

As for the 8hrs 23min starting tomorrow - that should be no problem. I will be a little slower at getting it in than usual (the joys of a trip away when I have reduced expectations of myself). This means that I will be feeling a little "last minute" with my exercise next week. I will post on the forum when it is done.

Thanks alot! LOL
I am one of the least coordinated people that there ever was. I guess I will be the one to do the roadblock. I have already watched the 1st 3 videos and glanced at the 4th. Probably will get it done tomorrow to have it all out of the way.
As for the amount of "travel" time needed to get to Rio I will be planning to do all of it regardless of how much walking Margaret gets in. As I really want to get my weight-loss fired back up.
I think that I have not been doing enough cardio and it is starting to show.
I've been getting exercise just mostly strength training stuff.

Almost forgot........
Weighed myself this morning and I came in at 188.8, that would be about 1 1/2 pounds down from last week.
I am hoping to go a bit lower for tomorrow. We'll see.

Good luck on the roadblock, Bella. I am terribly unco myself--it's really quite pathetic. :nopity: Actually, I thought M might like to do it, as she enjoys dance, etc. But if you're up for it, go for it. :hurray:

Got my cabbage in now, so that's done. I also did an extra 10 min on the bike in the wee hours of the morning b/c I felt guilty for consuming a rather large quantity of pretzels while watching Marilyn Monroe in "Some Like it Hot". :cuss: So now I only have 40min to go for today...

I love Marilyn Monroe! And "Some like it Hot" is one of my fav's!!!
I also got all my cabbage in. I almost feel bad for my family as I basically consumed it all in about 2 days. So has been a bit "breezy" around here lately.

That was the first time I've watched that movie--it was funny. LMAO@your house being "breezy" thanks to the cabbage...:smilielol5:

Well, I'm pretty pleased with myself..hahaha. I did 40 min of extra exercise for a total of 3hrs 55 min for the week, and got all the cabbage and then some in.

We all did great this week!! Go Omega-3's!!

I am so glad that we were able to get all our credits in "cabbage & exercise" this week.
Over all I did 4 hours and 20 minutes of exercise and of course ate all the cabbage.
Glad that this weeks challenge aka roadblock is not a food one! LOL
I ended up going with the weight from yesterday which actually went a bit lower than the 1st in the morning one.
That puts me at almost 2 pounds lost!
I now weigh in at 188.4
For a total of almost 42 pounds lost!
Yeehaw!!!!

Congrats you two on a great weight loss! :hurray: I am down only 1lb from last week. Major disappointment after eating and exercising so well yesterday. My sodium was low, too. :cuss:

However, we've lost 5lbs as a team, so hopefully that will put us in the middle of the pack somewhere, and not at the bottom.

Just keep up with all those great numbers you have been putting up and your weight loss's are sure to catch up to you.
And I sure do hope that a 5 pound loss would put us somewhere in the middle and not at the bottom! YIKES!!
Guess I need to pour it on for next week. As I don't know how well I will do for the 2nd week. I kinda figured I would do well this week with all the carb loading I did just before the challenge started! LOL :smilielol5:
