Weight-Loss The Amazing Race Challenge Omega-3 Team

Weight-Loss
I weighed in at 11st 1.2lbs i.e. 155.2 pounds which is a new low. I just hope that it isnt influenced by the fact that the scales are naturally in a different location.

I did a long walk this morning which was about 6.6 miles and over 2 hours - so you can notch me up as having done two hours towards the new weeks exercise if we are not eliminated.

We are just in from shopping so my pedometer is on over 9 miles so my weight loss shouldnt suffer too much from today's low exercise levels. I have now got new walking sandals, new walking shoes and new trainers. Hopefully my feet can now stay dry until these wear into holes.

I am more than happy for Dawn to deal with the video exercises - but I do love dancing so will probably have a go for fun when I get home.

Hey M~
Congrats on the new low!!! Take it while you can get it! LOL

As for the vid's I will gladly give them a go!
Ciao

Thanks - my only fear is whether it makes me more likely to have a future low loss or gain. Things could get tricky since the weight loss is not cumulative (especially with us all getting our TOM together - that could be a poor week for weight loss).

I'm pretty worried for our team. Other teams are posting huge losses--over 10lbs, and so far, we are the lowest. Everyone seems to be getting in their exercise and the detour pts, so it all pretty much comes down to weight loss. I hope this is a non-elimination week, or we might very well be out. I should've weighed myself in the evening last week to get a higher starting weight.

Well, thanks to a couple of people not updating, we got 3rd to last..lol. I know the Ex Bunnies would've beaten us if Tammy had updated b/c she lost a lot of weight this week, but I'm not so sure about the DDs--their teamie who didn't update would've had to lose 3lbs to tie us, so we still might have been ok.

After coming so close to being eliminated, I am torn about whether I should continue to raise my metabolism or try really hard to lose. It's kind of a quick fix vs long term issue. I might have little to no weight loss for a couple of weeks, but should have steadier losses after that, or bust my hump to maybe get a .5 to 1lb weekly loss. At today's weight 221, I'm still 2lbs higher than my lowest, and should be able to get back to 219 by Friday and still continue my metabolic boost plan.

I'm thinking about tweeking my plan slightly to be a bit more challenge friendly:
Fri--2500 cals
Sat--3,000 cals
Sun--2,500 cals
Mon--1,600 cals
Tue--1,200 cals
Wed--1,600 cals
Thur--1,200 cals

This would put my 3 heavy days at the beginning of the challenge week so that I should be down by weigh in day. Of course, I ate 3,000 calories today, so I'm already 500 over the new plan's Fri limit. :( I could always do 2500 Sat and even it out..lol.

How's everyone doing? I've logged in 55 minutes so far. I plan to get in 65min Sunday.

I've decided to give the above calorie plan a try. I ate 2500 calories Saturday, and will do so again tomorrow. Then I have to cut back until weigh in. :D

Things are going ok here. I did a walk for over two hours both Friday and Saturday so that is four hours done.

I am off out walking in a minute so that will be another two hours done later thismorning.

I think that moving your high cal days to the start of the week is a good idea. We want to do reasonably well for the challenge - but at the end of the day the performance of each of our weight loss projects is of greater importance than any challenge. You need to get your metabolism sorted out right. The point of the challenge is to keep us on track - this is more important that winning the game. It is not like there is a fortune to win here.

What!?? There's no fortune to win? Dammit, I'm quitting then. hahaha

Got in a 65 min walk today, so that puts my exercise up to 2hrs so far this week. :hurray: I was surprised at how much I felt it in my thighs and hips/glutes. :reddevil:

My calories were under 1900 today, and tomorrow's limit is 1600. My weight was 224 today. :ack2: I upped the fiber today, to help things along. ;)

Here's to a great week for the Omega-3! :cheers2: <--non-alcoholic, calorie/fat free beer. :D

It sounds like your plan is going well Kimberly.

Well my exercise is going fine
Fri 2 hours
Sat 2 hours
Sun 2 hours
Mon 2 hours

In actual fact I also went for a 1.5 hour walk on Sunday afternoon with my friend and her dog. She lives in a little village in weardale. I wont count it for challenge exercise time though as I was not going for speed. We were gossiping - but it would be good exercise as it was walking up hilly paths by the burn and climbing over styles.

Tomorrow should see my share of the exercise completed.

Nice job on the exercise, M. I think your gossip walking session counts as challenge exercise, but since you will get in more than the 50% before the week is out, it doesn't matter. :)

Weight was down to 222 today, so that was good. I should be able to post a loss for the week if I can get it under 221. Hitting the gym after dinner. I was gonna walk, but it's too cold out.

How's Bella doing? I know she got some weekend exercise in. :)

Hey girls!
Sorry to have been MIA. It has been crazy around here. Both my hubby and my youngest woke up yesterday with the flu. And me with only about 3 hours of sleep taking care of them.
I ended up laying back down yesterday and sleeping until 3pm!!!!
So unfortunately I am lacking in the exercise department. For now!
I already have plans to get on the elliptical today as well as my Fit for life class.
I need to get my house back into order so won't be here much until later today.
I hope that you guys both had a great weekend.
Catch ya later.

Well the 50% of the exercise that I am allowed to do has been done.
I have done 3 hours walking today plus a yoga class (it was actually 1hr 45 mins long - but I strip off the 45 minutes to cover the meditation and fluffy bits). There is always at least a full hour of real exercise.
I was already up to 8 hours (ignoring Sunday's gossip walking). That means that I have certainly done the 8hrs 23min that I am allowed to do. It is entered on the scoresheet.

Dawn - I am sorry to hear about the flu there. Life always gets more difficult when there is illness in the house. Where are you up to with the video exercises? Do you want me to have a go with it?

Man you are not kidding. I think that it gets even worse if it is an adult who is sick. Kids don't mind so much. They will just cuddle up and watch TV all day. But husbands on the other hand..........LOL, now that is a different story!
I am going to try and get it done tonight. (the vid's that is) I had every intention of having them done by this time of the week.
Hopefully now that Easter is basically here (as far as my job is concerned) my work will slow down just a bit and I will be able to get everything done in a timely fashion.
Next to Thanksgiving, Easter is the biggest "eating" holiday there is.
I will check back with you all later today. I promise. :)

Hi Dawn

I am pleased that things should slow down at work for you a bit. I can imagine that the run-up to Easter has been hectic for you at work. It is true that most people buy in quite a lot of extra food.

I know just what you mean about husbands when they are sick. They do act like they are at death's door a bit at times. I think that they have a particularly low pain threshold. I know that my hubby nearly hit the roof once when the lady that used to do my electrolysis gave him one tiny zap on his arm to give him a taste of what it was like. It was a really low setting. He certainly viewed my electrolysis in a whole new light after that.

Check how things are going for you - and let me know. It is 10.40pm here so I wouldnt be doing anything tonight anyway. If you post whether you want me to pick it up today - I will check tomorrow morning and know what I need to do.

Take care
Love
Margaret

Hey Margaret,
I am thinking that to be on the safe side maybe you should look at the video's. My mom came by for a visit and then my friend that I saw earlier in the day stopped by 'cuz she left something in my car. Plus I ended up being at my Fit for Life Class for nearly 2 hours!!! Good for the exercise times but not so good for getting other things done! LOL So I never was able to get to the video's. I am still going to try and get them done however.
I think what we could do is both of us give it a go and whoever gets it done 1st and gets it posted will get the credit for it. And the other will still have to do one later on in the challenge. Does that sound doable?
I would hate to say that "sure I WILL get it done" and have something pop up again that would inhibit me from finishing them in time.

I'm glad you've both got the roadblock sorted out..lol. Shew! :smilielol5:

Bella, I'm so sorry your hubby and child are sick. :ack2: That certainly throws a wrench into one's plans. However, it sounds like you've got the rest of the exercise in the bag. :)

As I mentioned in my diary, I had a super busy work day, and didn't get any exercise in today. I've got 2hrs left to do, and will get it done in time, not to worry. I've already got at least a 45min walk planned while I'm waiting for my mom at the eye doc tomorrow morning. :sifone:

Yeah I figure with the FFL class on Thursday and the fact that we are never there for "just an hour" I should have at least 1 1/2 hours from that. Plus I am toying with the idea of going to my PowerCore class tomorrow since I was unable to go on Monday due to the sickies in my house. That would give me another hour. Add into that any elliptical that I do and I should make all the exercise in plenty of time.
Let's just hope that all the exercise pays off on the scale. ***crossing my fingers, toes, legs.........heck anything that can be crossed is!***

Did an hour long walk this morning, so I'm now up to 3.5hrs for the week. Add that to Margaret's 8hrs23min, that's 11hrs 55min, and Bella has done at least 2 or 3 hours, bringing our total to about 15hrs or so. That leaves about 1hr 45min for Bella and I to finish off, depending on how much she's already done. I tried to add it up, but got confused..lol. Weight was 220.5 today, so I'm down a half pound from last week's weigh in. :hurray: I'm hoping to be back to my ticker weight of 219 by Friday.

So who wants to do this week's roadblock? I'm sure Margaret will be happy to volunteer for this one, but as she's already doing this week's, I don't mind eating the salmon. :)
