Weight-Loss The Amazing Race Challenge Omega-3 Team

Weight-Loss
Week 3—Rio to Vancouver 18hrs 50min. 6hrs17min per teammate if split evenly, and 9hrs25min would be 50%.

So, as Vancouver’s a port city, fishing is a major industry there. And as fish is low-cal, a great source of lean protein and full of omega-3 fatty acids, here’s the Roadblock: Eat a lb (basically a half a kilo) of salmon (not canned) over the course of the week. Only one person per team has to do this.

I am more than happy to eat salmon - in fact I probably do that most weeks. This week we had salmon on Monday and we are having salmon this Friday. If you like I can make a note of the raw weight as I go and if you have problems I can pick it up.

As far as exercise goes - 9hrs 25min will be fine. I expect it to be completed on Monday. It would have been Sunday if it was a normal week - but there is no aerobics class on Friday with the Easter holidays.

yeah, I thought of you when I made this roadblock..lol. I thought this was perfect for you, but I feel bad having you do 2 in a row..lol. Actually, I'm happy to be the one who does 2 roadblocks, as you are doing so much exercise for the team.

How's the Capoeira coming along? How do you like it?

The Capoeira is fine. I couldnt get the sound to work on the PC that I was using so I checked out the videos without sound earlier. They were shorter than I anticipated. The sound is back up and running now.

I have since watched and listened to them all. In all honesty I do not anticipate any problems with the 4 little dances (in my terms). I had a little go at a couple of steps but I would not rate it as a performance. I will leave them until tomorrow to perform when hubby is out from under my feet.

I am just relieved that I dont have to sing, produce their funny musical instrument or play it.

LOL! I'm glad you find it pretty easy. That would've been a tough one for me, as that sort of thing just doesn't come easily to me. I'd rather do a crossword puzzle..lol.

Hey there girlies!
Margaret I am glad to see that you are finding last weeks challenge "fun".
I got to looking it at some more and realized that I am just not that coordinated!!! I can't even do conventional aerobics without my feet getting all tangled up. It is amazing that I am even able to walk and chew gum at the same time!! LOL
Maybe we could all do this challenge as we all like our salmon! Who knows since every time Margaret has it her weight slides down it may have a good effect for all of us as a team. Besides I already have about a pound of it in my freezer. So I wouldn't be out anything at all.
Then Kimberly if you wanted you could take the credit for it saving something more strenuos for me. Especially as I ended up opting out on last weeks challenge. :(
I did get in 2 hours of exercise today.
I ended up going to my PowerCore class (which is 1 hour) and I also got in a really good butt kicking 30 minutes with a 30 minute cool down on the elliptical. It said I burned off like 755 cals. But I am not able to put my weight in so i am not sure really how many I burn. Though I did have my heart rate monitor on and I kept my heart rate between 155-162 for most of the workout. For the cool down it hovered around 135-142.
So if I am thinking this out right, as a team we are done with the exercise. But I really want to get my "fair share" in. Especially since MIL will be here before I know it.
Well I am going to go cruise around the forum some.

Bella, if you want to do the Salmon, go right ahead. There's a tougher roadblock ahead that I am willing to do..lol.

So how much exercise did you do so far? I just want to make sure it's all done in case I don't get any in tomorrow. :D

Well I have done a little performance of the 4 Capoeira videos.

I have to say that the last one took me longer than I anticipated. I am much better at kicking with my right leg than my left one and it does annoy me. I can kick my height with my right leg but cannot get close with my left. Stringing the two kicks together (Armada and Queixada) was quite tricky and I was pleased to double check the wording of the roadblock:

One team member must watch the first 3 videos and follow along with the next 4 videos once during the week. You don't have to do the moves perfectly, but do the best you can as you follow along.

I wouldnt say that I did the moves perfectly, but I did do the best that I can as I followed along. Therefore it is done!

Hahaha! This made me laugh so much. I went exactly through the same process!

LOL@Omega and Wulsk and their Capoeira completions. I'm sure you both did much better than I would've. I confess I watched all the vids, but attempted none of them. :D

I am getting ready to head out and do an hour's worth. Plus I will be getting on the elliptical later for about 30 minutes.
That would put me at 5 and 1/2 I think.
40m bike ride
40m elliptical
100m weights
60m power core
60m elliptical
300m = 5 hours

So after today I guess it will be at 6 1/2 hours.
Gotta run!

Wow! You trying to out exercise Margaret? lol

so add your 5hrs you've already done to the 11h 55m puts it to 16h55m, plus I just did 30min on the bike so that's 17h25m and 18h55m after Bella does the 90min today. So I'd say we met our requirement for the week. lol Nice job you two! :hurray:

What can I say were just a bunch of over-achievers! LOL
Looking forward to next weeks exercise.
Especially now that my daughter's Saturday morning basketball league is done I will actually get some sleep in the mornings and feel like exercising.
At least this way I won't be trying to slam it all in in 3 days!!!! LOL

Bella, I just realized our BMIs are nearly identical..lol. How about a race to get under 30? :D :auto:

Yay to sleeping in on Saturdays!! :hurray:

:driving: Your on!!! LOL At least we will have our own little side challenge if we happen to get eliminated. I hope we don't but I didn't lose barely anything this week. I am on day 21 of my cycle so have to assume that my weight issues have something to do with that. Hopefully next week will be awesome on the scale. Especially with all the exercise and fish!
That scale virtually doesn't stand a chance. :smash:
And yeah sleeping in on Saturday is going to be AWESOME!!! I have only been getting about 4 hours sleep due to getting up at 8am every Saturday.

Dawn - snap! - I am on day 21 of my cycle too!
Could this mean that we Omega-3s will be extra acidic rather soon!

And fatty with all the water retention...:smilielol5: I'm trying to remember when :reddevil: last visited me.

Bella, I like our little friendly competition. All I have to say is that I'm glad the cracker barrel is closer to you than me...:smilielol5: I'm gonna send you a gift card for there...:smilielol5:

There are 2 teams so far with less weight loss than us, so we are safe this week. :hurray:

According to my hubby I will be rather "acidic"! :smilielol5:Thankfully I don't really have the end result of the cycle anymore but I still get all the extra's. :ack2:

Thanks Alot! Just what I need another Country Fried Steak meal! LOL

It's good to know that we are not in last place this week. I woke up this morning with the Flu :puke:. No puking just the other way around. And of course the results of that is that I am now down to 187.6lbs. That is just a little bit more than 1/2 a pound.
I am not sure though if I should use that as a final weigh-in number or not. Since we can choose the number that is the lowest from the 2 days.
What do you guys think?

Sorry you're not feeling well. It's up to you if you want to use it. If you think it'll give us an edge next week, go ahead and stick to the previous one, since we can't be eliminated this week anyway. :)

Well Margaret PM'd me and I agree with you both that I should hold on to that number. Hopefully it will still be hanging around by next Thursday.
I would really hate to log it in today and have a bad "Flu rebound". You know gaining back all that I lost only because it wasn't true to begin with.
I am sure glad that we can't be eliminated.
I really hate to lose.
And with all the exercise we need to put in this week I am hoping to put up a really good number next week. Especially as I tend to lose right before my TOM starts. I don't know why. But that is the way my body reacts to it.

I finally figured out when :reddevil: last visited me...lol. He's due back in just a few days, so I will probably gain a bunch of weight over the weekend (eating high cal today and over the weekend won't help any, either  ), but should have it back off by next Friday. Last time my weight was 221.5 the day before :reddevil: arrived, and was 224 the day of his arrival, then back down to 221.5 the next day.
