Weight-Loss Team 2 Chat Thread

Weight-Loss
sorry LIzzie just realized I left you hanging....

This looks like the recipe I started with and its delicious but deceivingly calorie laden, especially if this is the one that mentions adding 3tbsp chocolate chips--definately meant for two but really good.

I have been trying to 'health it up' a bit and I am at a mid point if anyone wants to try it, it is very dense not light and cakey but its chocolatey and with 4tbsp frozen fat free whip cream its delicious and not a complete glutton fest--ok maybe a bit but I dont believe in giving up my desserts LOL.

anyway tbsp unless it says otherwise, make sure you mix it really well and my microwave takes only about 2 minutes but its rather strong.
2flour (I am going to try my whole wheat flour next time)
2 splenda
1cocoa
1 whole egg white
1.5 milk
1.5oil (I am trying to add 2tbsp applesauce and 0.5 oil next time)
1tsp vanilla
this was 344calories 30 carbs and 21g fat per spark I topped it with 4tbsp frozen whip cream to make a 404 calorie dessert that felt like CHOCOLATE HEAVEN LOL but didnt make me sick later!

Renee, Lena, Risty Where have ya gone ? we need your points on the spreadsheet for week 4 :) if your having trouble with getting into it let someone else know so they can put your numbers in :)

can we hustle this week please team! :) lets winnnnn!!!

hustleee ladies, hustle! and gents! :)

hella rough day yesterday (0points earned @ days end) but I am back on track for today, lunch packed, breakfast made, green tea in hand and the only decision left is spinning or jogging but I am off to the gym.

oh so I have these new side to side shuffle excercises that you do with a 5lbs weight on teh floor (I also read you could use paper plates) but I cant find a good link, saw it in a magazine adn I think its working! My leg was sore yesterday and I went down to reach and rub it and it felt HARD OMG the inner thighs will be awhile they are too padded yet ahem but I think its these excercises. So you do a squat shoulder width apart down with weight resting inside curve one foot then while down you pull the weight to the other leg stand up and repeat--does this make any sense geez that doesnt sound like how I picture it might. Anyway I keep doing that after running or whatever until exhaustion every other day irregardless of what I am working on unless I am sitll really sore and I think its working!!!! *bright point of the day*

hey guys i apologize. i couldn't get numbers in yesterday. i did now. i hope its not too late though. i already posted this few minutes ago but it didn't post. ???
anyway...i gained 1 lb and it sure aint because i was slacking. must be the water :( i'm keeping my fingers crossed it will get better.
keep up the great work guys. GO TEAM!!

Spreadsheet is back online. You can now start entering your Week 5 results! As the spreadsheet gets bigger it takes a little longer to load now. Please be patient :)

Good job on the overall weight loss Team 2! You are doing a great job!

Awesome, looks like you are off to a great start today. Everyone has bad days, but you just picked up where you left off and got back on track. I love green tea! Also, nice work on the thighs, woooo!

A question: How did you all decide upon a goal weight? I have a fear that I will keep losing weight, and never be happy with my body, because I have that fat girl mentality (I was much bigger growing up). I'm in the normal BMI range, but still on the higher side. So keep losing till when? I'm not self-conscious in a bathing suit? (Ah, as if this will happen, I've never worn a bikini in my life). So till when?

Hey team sweet cheeks, how we all doing? Early part of a new week, anyone up for motivating chatter, I'll be in the chat room for a bit, jump in if you wanna!

Lizzie-thank you so much, that means alot. I am back on track today.

So for weight thing I found a thread a while back talking about how poeple chose their weight and it was interesting to see the variety of responses. I personally want to be healthy first and foremost and feel I am in shape, I want to reach a size that I can feel comfortable in my own skin at but that I dont have to be unreasonably stringent on. I decided to shoot for 140 on 5'6'' medium frame because I feel this is reasonable. I think in my head 135 would be ideal but once I get to 140 I will see where I am at and re-evaluate do I need to tone more, cut cals more, what sort BMR am I at etc. Here is a fun place to start:
sorry I dont have the thread on spark people but I am sure you can find it.

so for the happy weight at 5'6'' 29yo and working out 3x per week with a child it says 141 I would like to work out 5xx per week but life does get in way sometimes so that is part why I am shooting for 140 and then re-eval my position.

Hey thanks for that weight calculator... I tried a few similar ones, and the weights were all between 155 and 162 depending on the calculator. So I'm gonna try for 160 and see what happens. Thanks mom2!

I have a friend from church who is 32yo, she's single, no kids, and she weighs probably 300 pounds. We're fairly close, go to the movies occasionally, and talk during choir practice. She's the most amazing musician I've ever met.

We've never talked about her or my weight, and she doesn't talk to anyone else about it (as far as I know). She's kind of proud, I guess?? I don't know. Anyway, last night after choir (10 pm) she said she was going to go home and eat "breakfast" because she hadn't eaten anything all day. She does that: eats very rarely, says she doesn't get hungry. But she must eat a lot sometime, because she's very very big. I mentioned how it's better to eat during the day, if she doesn't have time to make lunch, she should keep food at work to keep energy up, etc. She just said "yeah, I didn't have time, so I didn't bother to get hungry"

So should I talk to her about eating and exercise? Or just leave it alone?

Tough one! I'm not sure how I would go about approaching someone on it. People are sooo different. One person might love the help and to talk about it, and the another person just might not want to ever confront themselves about their weight.

=/

I don't know! Sorry.

how is everyone doing? I had a rough day, I tried to redeem myself by going ot gym tonight (I hate night workouts).

On the friends weight I would 100% NOT unless she is looking for some help. you can look at it from different weighs a-maybe she IS starting to loosen up to you on subject or noticed yoru loss and wants some help, if that is the case allow her to set the pace on the subject and or seek additional help B-maybe it was a slip and now the ONE time she does say something about her weight/habits and you are 'on her' (from her point of view not your intent) c-either way it goes I am sure she realizes she has a problem and either she will seek your interest later OR she doesnt care for your help, if she does need/want help and its not right time it will only turn her off and you cant do it for her (unfortunately as we all know). Just my 0.02 I've learned similar lessons the hard way unfortunately.

Good advice!

And that happy weight calculator was actually pretty enlightening (my "happy weight" is apparently 5 pounds higher than my goal weight!); thanks for posting the link! :)

i agree with all of the above. however maybe you can get her engaged into talking about it. in the sense...start talking about yourself and how good you're feeling with all the exercise and see if she starts talking about it too. or you can invite her to go walking with you after church or something :) if she doesn't that's ok. just tell her...'fine if anytime you wanna join just tell me :) i would love some company :)' (that0s how my friend did and i joined the aerobics soon after)

Gen-glad to be of help! I also had my original goal 6lbs below my 'happy weight' and I had a feeling it would be too low but its nice to kind of see something else confirming my suspicion. I dont want to be constantly trying to 'loose just 5 more'.

The friend thing is so hard, I love to talk, love to help, love to teach and so it has been a hard lesson for me to learn when 'not helping' is the only thing I should do---of course it highly varies on subject matter and the person.

How is everyone doing today? Woke up with a mundo headache not feeling well but tried making DD and I breakfast and me some coffee, feeling a bit better. Large breakfast (350 cals) so hopefully it holds!
