YES!! AND it kind of grosses me out. I've always just done the elliptical and stationary bike. Sometimes I'd walk quickly on the treadmill. I started doing HIIT so I'd run/spring on the treadmill. UH GROSS!! I could feel my back fat moving all over the place. Can't wait to not jiggle anymore. Sometimes I'll look down at my legs when I'm running - equally disturbing. :smash:

lux, when did you start doing HIIT? i have always considered it, but i think im scared. i can only physically do the ellitpical and bike (b/c of the hip at the moment), so i'd have to do it on that. Were you in pretty good shape physically when you started?

I think HIIT is perfect on either the elliptical or the bike. I find it too much on a treadmill. Have you read the sticky on HIIT? lots of good information there. Also, it doesn't matter your level of fitness because it's all about how much effort you put out. Give it a try, but don't do it more then once a week. That's something that a lot of people think will be helpful, but isn't.

Thanks trops! I'll look into the stickky and maybe pick a day to do it :).

I only started it recently. Like Trops said, I think the level at which you do it is just up to you. On the elliptical, there's the "interval" option, try that. That's basically it i think. :)

when i do it on the treadmill, i walk at about 3.8 for 1 minute, then ill run at 7.6-8.0 for 1-2 minutse, then walk again. ill do this unyil i hit 20 minutes. but you might be better at endurance than i am and be able to run at a higher speed. :) YAY wahtever works for you

HIII TEAM! So I've seen so many people name drop COUCH TO 5K that I had to go read up on it myself. It looks FUN and I'd love to be able to run 5k without stopping! I think it'll be a good way to change up my workout too so my body won't get too used to just me doing mostly the elliptical! YAYYY. I tried it for the first time today and it was pretty not bad! :) C25K! WOOO!

olux I did couch to 5k after having my duaghter (wihtin 6 months or so) and it was great. Just make sure you have right running shoes and I recently found out right socks can make a huge difference to, go to a running store where they have gait analysis and will fit you. Finishing that 5K was one of my proudest adult moments! It will be super super fun to enter a charity event in spring with a friend or two. I did two in 06 and none in 07 I am working up to doing one in teh spring again. I am currently up to 2 miles 3 days a week and staying there because of a shin splint--let me know how it goes.

I cant remember whom was asking but I have to be on steroids because I had a severe reaction (for an unknown reason) to my allergy shots that I always get---because I am allergic to literally everything and have lung disease. I got massive hives swollen arms rash traveled to my hands and neck it was horrid and no amount antihistamines worked so now I have to do the steroids but just for a week, today is second day of steroids and I am FINALLY getting some relief fun fun fun.

on a side note the huge steroid appetite hasnt kicked in so I am under cals for the day and can have a 125 calorie snack I just found some low cal raspberry sorbet that should fill the need nicely when topped with a few bluberries---I do hate to watch a movie without a snack--bad habit I know.

oh and dinner ideas hmmm I try to eat ubber healthy during the breakfast and lunch so I ahve more wiggle room at dinner. You can make some really awesome soups stews etc with the tiny baby crock pot that would be great for 2-3 dinners by yourself. This week on my menu is a venison/veggie/bean soup, lentil stew, and chicken soup (do to a hectic schedule this week I made all crock pot soups so they woudl be super easy. Then I found some fairly low cal italian sausage that I will sautee with some veggies and throw over whole wheat pasta. Sundays I try to make a real meat and potatoes or larger dinner for hubby so the sausage one will probably be that.

THANKS for the advice! I'll definitely look into that!

Does anyone here have FLAT FEET? Like, REALLLYYY flat feet? I have no arches what-so-ever. It has always been a struggle for me to run. Even when I was in my peak shape and pretty skinny, I'd be able to run adn not get tired but my feet would hurt SO BADLY. I know a lot of people thought I was just being a baby but it really hurt. I;m just wondering if anyone here has it and what they do to relieve it? Insoles do not work for me. My feet are too flat for htem to help. TH ANKSSS TEAM!

Hey lux! You should maybe consider seeing a chiropodist... they can sometimes give you exercises to do to strengthen certain muscles, or give you insteps (gradually making them thicker). I have fairly flat feet too, and I'm considering making an appointment. Especially if you are starting couch to 5k, you want to take care of your feet!

In other news, I'm no longer a spinning virgin! Woooooo! It was probably the most intense workout I've ever had, with sweat running down my arms. (I don't usually sweat, even at 80% of my max heart rate). It was just 2 of us plus the instructor, so I tried my best! Oh man I'm gonna hurt tomorrow.

Happy SuperBowl! Or Men's Australian Open, which I will be watching. Don't tell me who wins! I haven't seen it yet! Go FEDERER!

Definitely find a running store where they do gait analysis and recommend good running shoes for you. I just did that yesterday and got spankin' new running shoes! My legs still hurt from using old sneakers, so its just the elliptical for me for at least a week, but as soon as I'm better I'll get them going! I've been frothing at the bit to really run for months!!!

gait analysis and new shoes made world diff for me too, oh and no matter what you get follow plan and go easy, soemtimes you feel so good you to more and that is a sure way to have problems. I have hard to fit feet, flat, long, hypermobile joints just awful and right shoes can make all difference and for me the socks are huge too I had NO idea socks could amke such a difference.

well with no workout and around house today my calories are SOOO low I havent eaten much today 550 cals and waht I did was not a meal just some snacks. I was disapointed my SB plans fell through due to illness of my gma so maybe I will make myself a chocolate mug cake tonight since I was lamenting missing super bowl goodies!

I will post hte chocolate mug cake if you wish but a 1/2 size one is like 300 cals so its super super good and takes 5 minutes!

Today has been good so far, back on track with my mix of macro's. Had my monthly measurements done at the gym today, everything is moving in the right direction with the biggest difference in the hips (down 8cm) bit over 3 inches.

Tru-NICE on the measurements. I like that idea, then you (especially being so muscular) can surely tell the true results. I took some pre-contest and am planning to take some as contest is ending.

I will use tomorrow's weight but even given pending TOM and steroids I am down 0.5lbs from last week so I am trying to stay very excited by that. I made a new recipe for dinner tonight (crocked it overnight) curried Lentil and pea soup, wish I had made it a bit thicker and added more veggies but I'll give it a try. Good thing I still ahve some leftover porkchops to give DH with it LOL.

hope everyone is heading into a good week!

mom2- mug chocolate cake recipe PLEASE! Mmmm. Anything chocolately will make me happy right now!

I think I'm taking today's weight, it's freakishly low for some reason (please don't be broken scale!!) Maybe it was yesterday's spinning. If so, I'm doing that torture 3 times a week! I think we're looking good this week team! Let's encourage everyone to get their points up today!!

late to post here but yes definitely!!! I still can't run for... But my main reason now is impact because at the end of the day, I still weigh a lot, period. But my ankles turn inwards very sharply because of my flat arches. I as fitted with a set of ASICS gel foundations and they have amazing support. GGo t oa decent store and get fitted it will make a difference.

I, too, have flat feet. My feet aren't really the problem when I run, its the HORRIBLE shin splints I get from running because my feet are flat.

I haven't found anything to really do for them yet. But let me know if you find anything that works for you.

Hello everyone. Rough last couple days of this week for me. Sorry I didn't get the total points, we went to BDubs yesterday for the superbowl and I couldn't resist the wings. =/

I feel pretty crappy about this week. I have been so busy and not eating the best. I also have to put my dog down, I've had her for 13 years, and for those of you that have been through that sort of thing, it's really something hard to swallow. It's definately taking a toll on my emotions and motivation.

I will try my damndest to get back into the swing of things.

Michelley-I am so so sorry about your dog, that is the hardest thing ever. If you have never read it google rainbow bridge poem about pets (when noone is around) it will make you cry but it is wonderful!

Adeon-OMG that buttt LOL can I get one of those please I swear I woudl spin 5 days a week if I thought I could! Mmmmm wings, we are going out with work in like 2 weeks to a new place and I am SOOOO using a cheat day!!!!

Had alot snacks today but just skimming in under calories, unfortunately mostly empty calories but still within. Worked out hard too, hoping scale is my friend tomorrow. Oh and so did you ever have your scale mess with you. So my goal is 140 then re-evaluate adn determine feasability of 135 so this am my scale said 138 SOB I think its toying iwht me, of course immediately after it said error--#)(*%@)($!!!! LOL

here is to weigh in day!!!

Superbowl was good to me! I did not deter! Update when I get back from the gym!!
