I am formally from the bottom of the mitten. But now live in Indiana.

I grew up around Ann Arbor, but my dad is from the western side so there were frequent trips to the Niles/South Bend Michiana area when I was younger. Are you close to that? Was great to be home, but man do I not miss the weather! :rolleyes:
 
Well so far, my two main goals are to give up pop again (Im a night shifter with a family and am doing it solo...So when my weeks get sleepless I have been turning to pop agian, bad, bad, bad!)

And Since we have had snow for the last month or so , I havent even been drinking any water at all...I need to start drinking my water agian...

The sleep one is great but with the nights and the kids and so on and as busy as I am I really cant get anymore sleep than I already do,, which isnt enough but hey...what can ya do

I will set an exercise goal as well.

Ok actually Im not really gonna add exercise as a goal...Starting next week, I will be doing boot camp 4 days a week and I will be doing the Sun Run Clinic (learning to jog) once a week and I am 0planning on starting the couch to 5k on my treadmill...

I do however want to start Yoga agian, so maybe I will make it a goal to do a yoga session 3 times a week.

And just common stuff like eating more fruit and veggies.

I hear ya on the night shifts. I get them for a week a month and it sucks. It's not too bad when the kids are in school, but when they are off I become a zombie. Ya need more then three hours of sleep a day.
 
:DI get about 3 a day, when Im lucky maybe 4 , hahaha!And ya I hear ya after awhile 3 hrs a day just isnt enough...
 
For me, at least, it goes for 6 days and then I'm done for about three weeks. Not too bad. I'll just push right through. If I had to do it all the time, though, I'd have to find a different job. More props to you guys that do it all the time.
 
Ya, im in a group home...I work 4 days on and 3 off, translation no life...On my days off im in bed typically by 930pm every night.All my time spent with my kids wether Im sleeping or not...but oh well I chose this shift

South Bend Michiana is only about an hour from me. Hubby and I actually go to Mishawaka and South Bend every spring to go SteelHead Fishing.
In case your not sure what that is, LOL, basically you wade around in the river. Fishing off the bottom trying to catch Salmon by tricking them into thinking your "eggs" are there for the easy pickins.
I hear ya on the weather. They are actually calling for possible/most likely freezing rain on Tuesday morning. Had some yesterday as well. Though it was only 1/10th of an inch so didn't do much damage to anyone.
 
OK it's time to post my goals. I've decided to stick with personal, food and fitness goals.


Personal: I had already decided that i wasnt going to weigh myself during January because i was becomg a product of the scale. I have decided to extend this for this challenge. So no stepping on a scale.


Food: I'm giving up pretzels. This might not seem like a lot or very hard but the have been my weekness lately. Especially the buffalo flavored pretzels. Holy sh*t are they good.

Fitness: Not really giving anything up, more ofa goal. I do cardio twice a week, Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are 11 days of cardio during this challenge and I want to run 30 miles. This is a big challenge since i really cant run for distance.

I will update at least once a week but will probably check in more than that.

Those are all great goals Matt.
I could never NOT step on the scale. When I am not stepping on it is when I start to gain the weight. Kinda like outta sight outta mind, ya know?

That is what my challenge is. I'm usually the same way, out of sight out of mind. I want to see what my weight is when this is all done. Just another step for me in my life of controlling my wieght. Not letting it control me. I was literally weighing myself 5-8 times a day.

Okay

After thinking about it for a few days this is what I have come up with for my goals.

1. Starting next week (5th), on the days I work at the Y (t-w-th-f) I will go back up to the fitness center after clocking out and work on the weights.
2. I will use the Wii Fit Monday -Friday.
3. I will try my best to get 6.5-7 hours of sleep a night. As I generally don't get more than 4-5 right now.

So there it is.
Here's to achieving ALL my goals this year.

Okay reposted my goals so that I won't forget what I said I would go for.
Today is the 5th and I already succeeded at #3.
Was able to go back to bed after taking the kids to school (finally........I thought Christmas Break would never end! LOL)
In all I got 7 hours of sleep.
Haven't used the Fit yet today since I was sleeping all morning. (Plan to get on it at some point today.)
And my weights plan doesn't start until tomorrow.
Looking good!
UPDATE
Though my weights don't start til tomorrow I decided to head into my old Power Core class tonight. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. But wasn't so easy either! LOL
Still haven't gotten on the fit. Might get to it yet today. Just depends on if hubby will give up the TV. LOL

Matt, those are some good goals. 30 miles in 6 weeks is nothing to sneeze at. I'm going to do the mile a day thing myself. The weather is a factor for me, though, since I just can not get any milage on a treadmill. Everything has to be outdoors.

Going with Matt here...

Food: This may seem dumb, but I HAVE to give up ALMONDS!! I'm starting to feel like a damn squirrel!!! They are pretty healthy, and pack some great protein, but I can't stop at the recommended serving!! So, goal two... LIMIT THE NUTS!!

Fitness: I'm taking a page from Trops here... I'm going for 5,000 jumps in one session of jumprope. So, goal three... GET 5,000 or MORE JUMPS IN MY CARDIO JUMPROPE SESSION!!!

There... all three, lined up and starring at me. :D

Good one, JZ. I like the temper one. I'm guilty of that also, believe it or not, but usually when I'm sleep deprived.

Jumprope, is so doable. You're unstopable!

Yes, 5,000 jumps in one SESSION. NOT without stopping. Trops is the jump rope king... is it 15,000 now Trops, or still only 12,000? :D :D

Seriously if I was to try to jump rope that much they would find me in a corner all tied up in a big jump rope knot!!! LOL Your right you will most likely get alot of flak for the nuts. hahaha
 
Only 12,000 at this point. I think I'll probably get to 15,000 without even making it a goal. that's why I want to make the running a goal.
