Weight-Loss Pre Lent Challenge

Weight-Loss
I'm in too... gotta think about it as well... Everything I would cut out, I'm already cutting out lol!

Lol, that's my problem. Not much left to cut out at this point, except chocolate. I know if I cut that out completely then I will just be setting myself up for trouble later. Seems the more I deny myself something the more I want it.

I think instead of abstinence I will do something. I've gotten really good about getting in extra activity every day but it has been so hard to drag myself to the gym for "real" exercise. There is always an excuse. So, I vow to go to the gym three to four days per week. I know that doesn't seem like a lot for those of you that are doing a million jumps a day or living at the gym twelve days a week. However, for someone that does not go regularly, that is a big change. Since I will be doing this until Feb 18th and not longer like the rest of you I will start at the New Year instead of the 11th.

Good luck everyone! And thanks Trops for starting this challenge! :)

Wow! Lots of activity overnight. Welcome all. I'm glad that this has a two week lead time so that everyone can really think about what their personal goal is.

I'm still thinking alcohol, but now I'm thinking that the Super Bowl is right there in the middle of things. That would be tough, but doable. It's the one sporting event that I watch a year. To do so without the beer would be, (pardon me for this one) un-beer-able. :svengo:

Oh my, ha ha ha!...Well if you are in the middle of it, then you would do it adn it would be that much more gratefying afterwards, LOL...Just at that moment it would really suck some ass!

you clearly didn't grow up Irish catholic with all the Lenten Loopholes...

The Super Bowl is on a Sunday - sunday's you were absolved from whatever you gave up for Lent as long as you did church duty at some point during the day...

there's also the St patricks day loophole too...

Oh, I certainly did. We had the extra guilt of Sunday dispensation and St. Patrick's Day dispensation is only for the weak. Real dedication meant every day till Easter. :(

Actually my New Year's Resolution is going to be to have more fun this year. It'll be a tough one, but I think I'm up for it.

I like to be in as well, but no idea what my goal etc. will be. I'll sit down and think about it, and post in the next few days....

What a great challenge idea! I'd like to join in as well please.

I think I will pick a food goal and an activity goal. For the food, I will avoid pizza as I eat it far far too often since it is an easy option where I live.

And I love abouttoloseit's idea of adding a vow to do something re exercise. Since I also have the problem of not making it to the gym on a regular basis, especially now it is dark out so early and I am always tired from work on weekdays, I will pack a gym bag and bring it to work with me m,w,f and go work out after instead of going home or out with friends. And hopefully by the end of the challenge it will become a habit and part of my daily life.

Hope everyone has a good start to the new year!

Ooh, nice one. Pizza is a weakness of mine, too. But I live in NY where the best pizza in the world is all around. :D

Okay

After thinking about it for a few days this is what I have come up with for my goals.

1. Starting next week (5th), on the days I work at the Y (t-w-th-f) I will go back up to the fitness center after clocking out and work on the weights.
2. I will use the Wii Fit Monday -Friday.
3. I will try my best to get 6.5-7 hours of sleep a night. As I generally don't get more than 4-5 right now.

So there it is.
Here's to achieving ALL my goals this year.

Nice! First pledge on paper (or computer in this case) :hurray:

What about weekly updates here to keep accountability?

I think that would be great!
Especially since if I don't have anyone to help me stay accountable I just might not.
I think though, if it is okay, that I will post everyday M-F.
Helps to keep me on my toes ya know.

Good one. I think most people should probably get more sleep at night - me included - but most people dismiss that as not important. A good night's sleep on a regular basis definitely helps with weight loss. I think if I got more sleep I would be more inclined to go to the gym.

oooh, excellent idea about sleep! I'll have to take that into consideration as well. Particularly since I'm stuck in a timezone gap since returning from Christmas holidays in the US (it's 5am where I am and I've yet to go to bed..)
