Playlist suggestions!

play lists are so specific to a person - there are a bunch of threads on playlists.. what works for one - might not work for another..

I think i'd stuff hot pokers in my ears if i had to listen to (c)rap noise...

theres a lot of really good podcasts out there on practically every interest... from music, to religion,to politics, to feel good npr stories, to sex and everything in between...

put the mp3 player to random and see what happens. :)

I listen to classical music and film scores. It makes time go by faster than when you listen to standard four-minute mainstream songs.

I have NO CLUE WHATSOEVER who those bands are you are talking about KissMyHuman!!!!

I thought I would be at least 60 before I starting losing touch on whats in and happening......

Hey, don't feel bad, i'm in my 20's and I dont' know either, lol

I LOVE to listen to my green day, american idiot cd!!!! Really gets me moving!!

****I LOVE YOU BILLIE JOE!!!!*****

Not to go off on a tangent, but not all rap is crap... admittedly, the vast majority of what main stream streams to your ears is. so i can understand that genralization.

But there is a sub genre referred to as "underground hip hop" Which usually has a message, deeper lyrics, and poetic structure, rather than your commercialized, economy driving garbage that gets pushed to the radio (selling anything from clothes, to certain kinds of liquor, to big rims, to gold chains, to "grillz")

consipiracy! i tell you. rap and hip hop that gets promoted by labels is just pro-economic get morons to buy fads propoganda.

Old school rap from the mid to late 80s is listenable and not bad - hip hop to my old ears is j ust awful - and gangsta rap - i get assaulted with nightly by the deaf idiots who live above me - is just noise -there's nothing poetic about it -it's just noise... :) then again -im old.

well, if you "happen to come across" any Immortal Technique, its worth a listen, specifically the album "Revolutionary Volume II"

i'll try anything or listen to anything... twice :) just to be sure i do or dont like it...

i am always open to new musical selections

Hmmmm... What is gangsta these days anyways?

Sirant,
dont feel so bad, those bands aren't really mainstream, unless you are a follower of the genre you probably wouldnt even know them, real good music though.

I also wanna add Killswitch Engage to the list, as well as Atreyu, Thrice and Remembering Never. One to check out would also be Mastodon, really brings back some old school hard core metal riffs.

but dude... more details on the gangsta rap. I'll throw on some brotha Lynch hung, thats pretty gangsta.

What I listen to is primarily older stuff like Geto Boys, Public Enemy, NWA, Dre, Snoop, cypress hill, Biggie, Tupac and guys like that. More modern stuff I like is Eminem, Oukast, 50 Cent and others like them.

Whereas a lot of people are down on rap music and especially gansta rap, I grew up in the "poor area" in my own home town that created this genre of music and I see where the anger and aggression is coming from. But the bottom line for exercising is it has a strong aggressive beat and rhythm that gets me moving. These days people can "read these Nikes" as I am running by as opposed to how the Geto Boys did it... ;)

some of the songs that I have on my mp 3 player are all the songs by Chris Daughtry ( the song "what I want" gets me moving ! ) also have songs by Heart, Casting Crowns ( christian group ) one by Randy Travis called "Pray for the Fish" , also have "another one bites the dust " by Queen and few others.

Good Motivational Music

Not sure how many of you outside Australia have heard of this guy yet, but I really like his music. His name is Shannon Noll and he was the winner of Australian Idol (last year I think) One of his most famous songs, "Lift" is the theme song for Asutralias Biggest Loser. I have, since hearing that song, looked him up and found I actually like many of his tunes. They are all rather simple but very uplifting songs with a good beat. Songs such as Lift and Shine I relate to very well in the context of my weight loss journey. Well worth a listen.

I love a mix of everything when I'm exercising--Coheed and Cambria, Queen, Rooney, Madonna, Outkast, etc. I need to update my iTunes...

Believe it or not (don't laugh now :p ) I have some Brittney Spears, Backstreet Boys stuff that really get's me moving. Typically, I'm a rocker chick. I love punk bands like The Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Pixies, The Ramones, ect.. and I also like some metal but for some reason, I just can't dance to that stuff so I get on buy.com and download cheesy pop to get me moving. What can I say, it works for me.

Lately I have been listening to Vocal Trance to get me going to a nice pace
The only rap I can listen to is Andre Nicatina
Other than that, if I can find a song that I feel really relates to me, I can get pumped up just from the surge of emotions that it brings about.

umm let me think...coheed and cambria is good
Santessa is good for cool downs
Ace of Base
Alkaline Trio
Esthero
Imogen Heap or Frou Frou
Guns N Roses(Must have for any playlist)
U2
Incubus
Gracia Violin Trio
Tenacious D
Sheryl Crow

for starters...
