Marsia's Diary

Wow the weight is really dropping off you . Have you started the keto diet yet ?
No, not yet, I think I just got a burst of willpower and ordered a keto book and was more careful about food. I am also working towards cutting out sugar except for berries in anticipation of going on keto, so I bet that helps. Mostly though I think I reached a point in exercising where it feels really good to work out my muscles and body, so I don't feel so much the need to snack because I am enjoying this feeling of higher energy and some increased healthiness.

We were actually out with another family from my daughter's school for lunch today and the father talked about how the only time he lost weight was in the Chinese mountains for a 6 month Chinese course. He said that the scenery was so beautiful that food became less of a focus, and beauty more of the focus. I think that is what I would like to happen with my life is to have food take that more back seat role where it isn't entertainment anymore, do you know what I mean? I am not out of the woods yet by any means - still get very snacky and everything, but I think that is becoming a major goal - to look at food more as nutrition for health than as something for emotional comfort.

If that means upping the intensity of the rest of your emotional experiences instead of lowering that of food pleasure it sounds wonderful!

I think that's the focus we all need to get to isn't it . " eat to live , not live to eat "

I think I have an extremely long way to go sadly before I get there . But making progress too . Good for you Marsia . Keep it up and keep clocking up those new experiences.

I think it really could mean that. Like if we got into the fun of exercise and found a diet where the food is fresh and tasty so that we didn't miss the refined foods because the food we are eating makes our bodies feel really good. We had a massive vegetable garden growing up and I didn't even like sugar most of the time, and the fresh food made me feel really good. I think my taste buds adjusted to eating lots of veggies and really enjoying them, and so sugar didn't taste good then. And I think that the energy we crave and try to get eating junk food we could get with either healthier food or with exercise, so maybe it's just learning how to read our bodies better as to what would really be good for them? Definitely a trial and error thing as far as what we can stick to and what makes us happy in the short and long run anyway!!

I think you have been doing amazing, and hope you fully acknowledge that!! I like the "live to eat" quote and will remember that one!! Thanks for the encouragement, too!

I am a little sore from biking yesterday. We found a neighborhood near a river with steep hills here and there. Since there were a lot of stop signs, it was hard to build up speed for the hills, so my shoulder blades are sore from pumping up the hill frantically trying to get to the top. Haven't done that in years and years. It was fun and tiring! I am really enjoying biking. It's so fun to be able to explore so far so fast, like how once you try a kayak, it is hard to go back to a slow moving canoe. Now I want to explore all sorts of new places!

I am trying to eat up the last of the high carb veggies and stuff in the fridge, but am also really excited to try the new diet now. I am not increasing fats much until I drop most of the carbs, so my diet is a little weird at the moment, but eating more nuts and somewhat less carbs does decrease my cravings so far. I was researching keto online more, and there are less drastic low carb diets as well, so if keto is too hard or not sustainable for the long run, there are other options that other people have already implemented and I can just follow, so that's a good discovery.

It's beautiful today, so I think I'll go outside and do chores!

I love your enthusiasm about the biking! Also: you´re preparing for keto so thoroughly I expect it to be a resounding success.

Thanks, LaMa!!! It is really good to prepare for this there are so many rules - I keep doing things like putting soy milk in my tea when I am supposed to be only having fasting drinks between meals. So it's good I am practicing now so I can tell if the keto is working after the first month.

Too tired to type anymore today. Fingers don't work from scrubbing off cars and solar panels and stuff. I got lots of sun and feel all glowy now! Hope everyone had a great day and that your tummy feels better, LaMa!

Being tired after having accomplished stuff is a pleasant thing. Sounds like a great day on your part as well!

Marsia I get you on the too tired to type . I’m barely able to function by night time now .

Your diet sounds really good . Will your family do it too . I note you are trying to use up all the high carb veggies so I’m guessing they will .

Sounds like you are having lots of fun at the moment . Keep up the good work

It sounds like we're all exhausted at the moment. I am too tired to talk or type tonight & keep doing typos so I might just have a nanna nap zzzzzz
xoxo

I got used to tea with no cream or sweetener. That is a major, amazing thing for me. I got an iced tea at a cafe the other day and it was pre-sweetened and I had to apologize for not knowing they would put sugar in it and ask for another one without the sugar. My taste buds are changing to healthier!!!!

I drank about twice the recommended daily amount of water the other day when I was up on the roof cleaning solar panels in the hot sun, so my recent 1.5 pounds of weight loss came back in water weight from that one day. But I am not going to let it bug me. Once I have stabilized my weight at the new low, I will post to the challenge page, I promise!

I have so much office type-work this week, but must get some aerobic exercise in!

Nananap sounds like a Batman thing :p
I love that, "Na-na-Na-na-Na-na-Na-na, Na-na-Na-na-Na-na-Na-na, Nap-time, Nap-time, Nap-time!" I picture a retired Batman and Robin sitting on the porch overlooking a beach on some Caribbean island putting on their respective black and red monogrammed robes and happily heading toward their hammocks!

I used to drive my mom crazy as a kid humming that tune over and over!

I love it too. It is SO catchy!
Isn't it great how much our tastes change? Just the thought of iced tea with sugar and/or cream in it, makes me feel a little queasy. :)

I had worked on a total pain in the butt bunch of illustrations for the last 2 days, and it was finally sunny and warm out this afternoon, so instead of cleaning for my husband's company who was coming over very soon, I went for my first jog in nature. I did it - jogged a half hour straight! I probably didn't go much faster than a brisk walk, but I wanted to pace myself. That felt really good and all the stress melted away, and then I got home and cleaned house, made dinner, and built a fire for his company. Having a well earned tea at a cafe now! :)

Well done Marsia that’s fantastic .
