Goat? That one went over my head, please explain.
G8R is the "tri-guy" in this thread as of now. A sprint tri is in my long term goals so I'm just trying to get a small taste of it right now. If I can figure a way to train for the swim portion then I'll be fine. I'm finishing up a divorce right now so I'll have a lot more free time here soon and can pursue it a little further.
Thanks G8R for the distances. I didn't even get to the gym last night. I ended up working until 6:30 then watched the BCS championship game.
Wisdom tooth (yes, just 1) out at 10:30 am today. I don't expect it will be too bad, the 1st one wasn't. But, I'll limit the intensity of my activity for a while. Likely fast walking on the treadmill for longer periods of time with some stationary biking mixed in.
Goat? What You Talkin' Bout Willis?
Greg, I missed most of the game last night - flying back from State College, PA, and didn't get to work out either. And, I froze my @$$ off outside. Overall, yesterday was not a pretty day, but I was above the grass, so it beats the alternative.
When you get serious about doing a sprint tri, spend a few bucks and take some adult swimming lessons. It will help a lot. Oh, yeah, a few dozen hours of practicing won't hurt either...
Wisdom tooth, huh? I had all 4 extracted when I was 17. I remember counting back from 100 and the next thing I remember was waking up with my mouth full of gauze. Ugh.
Mel, I did 3 sprint tris last year. In my first sprint, I was the last one out of the water (I started in the last wave), had a 5-minute T1, had two flats during the bike (but only had 1 spare tube
) and struggled to break 10:00 min/mile on the run. But, I was still recovering from open heart surgery 12 weeks earlier. I got better and faster on my next two springs and now am training for a 70.3 Ironman distance on April 5, 1 year from the date of my surgery. I have no doubt I will finish it and I think I'm gonna be competitive in my age group.
