Floater's diary

Had a Red Bull before heading to the gym. Workout wasn't the greatest, I couldn't focus at all, but I still did it yay.

Quesadilla meal at Taco Bell, then home.

Everything good here, positively lost in a DIY project and enjoying myself greatly 🥰

Got a migraine after DIY:ing but it eventually passed, did a psychotherapy home assignment, I´ve eaten chicken, tomato soup, eggs, and pastries today, really tired now. Aqua jogging day tomorrow!

Is your DIY project attaching the two cages? Hope you're sound asleep right now & have a migraine-free day & enjoy your aqua jogging xo

No, I fixed a 10€ dress I plan to wear with a militec vest so the vest won't look nazi-ish. I don't have the metal presence to operate power tools right now 😅

Migraine-free days to be expected again when the low air pressure and heavy rains will pass. Same goes with quality sleep.

The new cage... Should not have bought it for so expensive. It's pissed rusty in places.

My routine is alternating gym and the pool for four days, followed by one rest day. For the summer when I was losing weight I did everything in 3x10 reps, but I could increase the weights a bit and do 3x6. Does this sound sensible?

For upper body targeting stuff specifically I do lat pulldowns with alternate grips, low rows, bench press, and different stuff with dumbbells depending on how my joints are feeling on each day. I enjoy gorilla rows but my right elbow sometimes gets aggravated from them although I check my form. My trap situation is looking good, I naturally pack mass in them easily and have that X shape. I guess deadlifts are somewhat good for lat development as well? Haven't done those in a while, I focused on machines while I was losing weight to prevent injury.

About my gym routine in general - I'm sure that a stricter routine might yield better results, but I kinda need to wing it sometimes to balance with joint and migraine issues. Also anxiety - if the gym is full, I do a shorter workout, if I'm alone in there, I do a longer one. But I know that even pros have days when they don't feel strong.

I'll focus on what you said about "time under tension". It's easier for my brain to pick one thing and that will remind me to keep my focus on the sensation of the movement across the muscle while working out 🤔

sets of six are the bottom end of the scale for hypertrophy and the upper for strength. if you drop to 6 reps you would benefit from adding an extra set.

Bench is a good exercise but DB bench is better than BB when looking at chest development along with either incline or decline press depending on which portion of the pecs you want to target. DB fly should also be a consideration but not the pec deck which is bad for shoulder health.

Pullups, DB pullovers, straight arm cable pushdowns, deadlifts and rows of all types for the lats.

Much appreciated! :Angel_anim:

Good for you! I’m not surprised 🥰
Sorry if my response sounded catty btw, not the intention! I was grumpy and sleep deprived. Everything looks slightly better in the morning. And the cage project will move along when the time is right. :) I´m glad I got new clothes. My better body is worth showing off even though it´s not what I´d like gender-wise.

My GP sent me a message about a pretty bad mistake in my patient files. There´s been a error and it´s in my papers that I tried to unalive myself in 2017 which, in reality, never happened. It was a fucking typo and yet has cost me so god damn much. Because for some reason, the mental health system tends to punish people with attempts - real or clerical errors - and I have even been threatened with a personality disorder diagnosis because of this. Thankfully anyone paying it any attention will realize that usually attempts are followed with treatment and I was healthy as a billy goat that year but.... Yeaaaah. I try to not think about it too much.

Did some walking around after aqua jogging, bought two M-150 energy drinks and had late lunch at Taco Bell (naked burrito bowl, a side of loaded fries, half a mug of Coke). Then walked home and cleaned Heikki´s current cage. Now having a snack of chicken and a pear I fund in the fridge barely hanging on to life. Next I´ll see what I can do about the bigger cage. ADHD-wise it might be smarter for me to divide the project into smaller steps: it´s plenty enough if I screw out the old shelves today, and figure out what timber is too peed to hell to keep and what could possibly be repurposed.

Fuck yeah! Old shelves are out and new ones are in! The old wood was beyond salvage but I kept the screws and round thingamagigs.

Babysteps sound like a good idea for almost everything and definitely for big diy projects. Hope you'll be able to salvage the bones of that larger cage.

Tackling that cage in small steps sounds smart. I love repurposing stuff, but my DIY skills are a bit lacking. It's good to try though.

Psychotherapy was amazing. Had lunch at the Indian buffet. I'll walk around for a bit to let the food settle and then I'll hit the gym!

Had a weird encounter with a guy who said he was gathering interviewees for his phd study but didn't have an official study permit and got weird when I told him I'll be on my way to the gym.

Incorporated chest flies to my workout for the first time - thanks @Trusylver , I loved them and will definitely keep working on them! Had an embarassing moment after my first set trying to get back up again and "turtled" on the bench fora bit. Or "beetled". Defo not a smooth sight lol. Figured I better put the weights down and then get up. Next time my body will be more aware of how to do it. 🐢🐞

Had a protein drink after, now chilling at home and doing laundry before I'll tackle the cage project again. Got my meds and bought a reusable razor because the plastic ones always give me ingrown hairs.

Life's pretty good, guys.
