Floater's diary

Dinner: couscous and chicken, bowl of mango. I have noticed that my appetite increases after sunfall. Makes sense. Bright light takes me to sensory overwhelm. Eating is sensorily intense so it's hard to do at day. But the blender is amazing. I can basically make myself drinkable salads and smooth soups to have during the day, and focus solid foods at twilight hours. Winter is easier in this regard because there's very little light.

Important observation!

Two rye bread cheddar sandwiches, the rest of the chicken

That is interesting, and could be very helpful going forward.

Definitely!
Breakfast: a banana. Lunch will be 200g of cottage cheese and rye bread with turkey. After that I´ll go aqua jogging. I had two rest days in a row but it was probably needed as my gym sessions tend to take over an hour nowadays. I now feel like a horse being turned out to pasture, so full of spendable energy lol.

I was supposed to have a negotiation with the social services today for the work-adjacent activity the trans clinic demands I go to in order to get to transition. The social worker got sick, so me and the autism assistance person had a fun morning, I let Heikki out for a run. He was so adorable, as he always is.

Had the turkey rye bread & cottage cheese for lunch as planned, and boiled some eggs & steamed some rice as food prep. Eating took ages, but I only had one portion of cold soup left and that´s my postworkout for today. Now, a cup of coffee and then aqua jogging for 120 mins.

Aqua jogged for 120 mins, had locker room cold soup, now off to pick a package of new clothes - I dropped off some old, ill-fitting but still presentable clothes & shoes at the UFF container on my way here. It was a nice feeling. My swimsuit is also starting to get a bit big. I'll probably need a new one in the autumn. Exciting!

Once home, I tried on the clothes I ordered. I´ll keep one hoodie, the rest didn´t fit, and I´ve decided to not buy anything that doesn´t fit perfectly. I had two eggs and some couscous for dinner and let Heikki out for a run. Then I made a fresh batch of smoothie, this time with 1 banana, 200g of quark, 200g of frozen blackcurrants, 1 dl of soy protein, 1 dl of oats, 1dl of pumpkin seeds, and 2 tbsp of sugar and a dash of genuine vanilla. Had one portion of smoothie for a snack. Will need to eat something more substantial tonight... I have some minced beef in the fridge so I could maybe do something with that stuff

I made some pretty nice soup with onions, garlic, celery, green olives, tomatoes, red bell pepper, spices, black beans, and minced beef that I filled with cheddar and rolled into meatballs. Having one portion now over rice I prepped in the morning, and four portions will go in the fridge for later.

If I need to eat more, I have some pineapple that´s thawed in the fridge by now, and I can also have boiled eggs and couscous or rice if I´m really hungry.

EDIT yeah needed to eat more, starting with that pineapple :)

Still hungry, so going to have two boiled eggs. Don't feel like I need carbs so I'll have the eggs and see what's up. I'm probably not going to sleep a lot tonight because I have an appointment with my GP in the morning. She's cool though. I'm just jittery before any and all early appointments!

EDIT: after going through what I ate today it's definitely going to be two eggs on cold rice, topped with scallions. Glad I keep a diary.

Clothes that fit perfectly & that you either love or like a lot are the go for me too. Near enough is not good enough. It's important to feel comfortable in your clothes. Are there not many decent stores near you, Arvo? I don't think I'll buy clothes online anymore.
Keeping a diary is good for so many reasons :)

I loathe in-person shopping: I'll get misgendered, weird smells, stress, nothing available in my style. Fitting at home is superior in every way!

I hate in store shopping too, but also hate having to return stuff!
My lunch was 2 🍌 🍌
I don't mind returning really, sometimes I think about the climate impact but I'm sensible about my consumption so guilt trips are useless. Banana gang!!

Doctor went well. I like my GP. She renewed some prescriptions. I need to schedule a mammogram. I thought it had been booked for me but it hadn't. I won't be referred to a physiatrist or genetics clinic for EDS this time, but if the symptoms worsen, I'm glad the EDS issue is in my papers anyway.

Had a cheese and ham sandwich at the church cafe and bought two sugar free energy drinks and a pack of peanut mochi & a pack of banana mochi at the Asian grocery. Now at the gym!

Gym felt difficult today but I still did it, and not every workout can feel like being kissed by angels, so that´s perfectly fine. Had a locker room berry smoothie. At home I showered and put the laundry on and did food prep and booked a mammogram. Eugh.

Lunch: a bowl of meatball soup, a cup of green asparagus soup. EDIT also two banana milk mochi for dessert oh my GOD they are gooddd

Recipe for asparagus soup for those interested:

Heat up a bit of oil in a pot with a bay leaf. Add 1dl of unpeeled almonds and 1dl of dry soy mince. Add in six small or three big chopped potatoes and cover with boiled water, simmer until potatoes are soft. Add in a bunch of chopped up green asparagus for just a few minutes, you´ll want to keep the crunchiness. Remove bay leaf!!!
Whatever herbs you have lying around, toss in a blender. I used a bunch of basil, the remaining parsley, and spring onions. (Or if you use a wand mixer, do this in the pot.) Add a couple cloves of fresh garlic, one small shallot, some ginger, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar. Also add 200g of frozen peas to keep the temp of the mixture safe to blend. Finally, add in the potatoes, almonds, and asparagus and enough fresh, cold water that the blades will run easily. The soup will thicken once refrigerated so aim for runny. Blitz everything together, portion, and cool. Tastes great warm, and hopefully also tastes great cold.
