Floater's diary

But I'm kind of happy that I could revisit the longing I had for those blue keys - it helps me ground myself to my identity.
I like that. Do the pools in your area still use similar keys? Could you buy one from them just as something tangible to keep at home?

Yes they do - locker keys still hang from blue or red rubber cuffs worn around the ankle during swimming. But they are property of the pools - the lockers used to operate with coins, nowadays with the swim card, that are used to pawn the key for the duration of exercise. I don't think they can be bought, and asking for defunct/discarded/bent keys would probably raise some questions.

However, I could try to look at craft and jewelry stores for something similar. Or just hold onto the visual in expectation of passing well enough to enter the blue key zone some day 😂 In any case, thank you for the idea 🦙🥰

Hope the pool thing gets sorted. I would be amazed if they don't accept your cancellation of your cancellation xo

I think I'll keep my gym membership cancelled and start using the pool's gym anyway. It's so much cheaper, and even with the time restrictions for pensioners, I think I could make it work. 25€ per month for my current gym is a lot of money yearly. And the pool gym allows for a free swim post workout. Maybe not the ideal for building muscle mass, but fun in the summertime and might help me shed the fluff faster.

Breakfast: a big cup of black coffee anda big portion of yesterday's lentil stew with potatoes. I thinned it with water to a soupy consistency, because I want to get well hydrated and go for a swim as soon as the food has settled. I have some post packages to pick up today, too. It should keep me preoccupied and not worrying about tomorrow (dentist + trans clinic call) too much.

Woah, there's a blizzard outside. The weather went from sunny to Silent Hill in literally five minutes. I kinda like springtime for this :D

My mornings seem to follow a pattern nowadays: wake up, have coffee, have breakfast and take meds, cry about Nera, have another coffee, start the day  But crying is healthy.

Better to cry than to suppress it. Saving 300€ a year sounds pretty good if you can still do pretty much everything you want to do.

Indeed. If I get to film school, I can restart my membership at the 24/7 gym, but as someone with no tight schedules, I'll be able to make the pool's gym work. My lifting routine is very simple anyway. :)

Now I'll brush my teeth, moisturize, and hit the pool 🥰

Aqua jogged for two hours. My locker room porridge tasted like manna from the heavens. Now I'll hurry home to eat a proper meal and then I'll see what I have energy left for today.

My lunch/second meal today was spaghetti with scallions, black pepper, marg, and my remaining salt beef cut into thin strips. Neighbor's kid is practicing the flute (?) again and it's driving me fucking crazy. The kid never plays actual musical pieces, just this one extremely obnoxious scale/finger exercise and has had absolutely no progress in the year this has been going on. However, the carbs are making me feel better. The pasta didn't quite satiate me, so I decided to have a small bowl of sauerkraut for veg/fiber and a small bowl of plain Turkish yogurt for a bit more protein as a sort of a savory dessert.

I changed the sheets, the laundry machine is running, and so is the dishwasher.

Jesus, some really disturbing news about war crimes in Ukraine. The sort that make my stomach churn in disgust and fear. I guess I better unload the dishwasher and go for a walk, sitting inside the anxiety will just get the better of me.

I ate the thawed mango, went for a walk, and picked my new exercise mat from the post automat. The sunset was beautiful, pastel sky and white snow, but southern slopes are starting to lose the snow cover. I took some pics and selfies - for some reason the March light conditions and color palette compliment me best out of any seasons. I run into my ex-MIL on my way back and we had a little chat, she invited me over for tea some day. I think it's nice that she still likes me and vice versa.

I got home, the bed sheet had eaten the rest of my laundry and everything was soaking wet, so I removed the sheet and hung it up and decided to run the laundry machine again in the express setting to get my clothes spun properly. I think I'll have lentil stew with spinach and PB for dinner, and if I feel carbsy before bed, I'll have spaghetti or instant ramen. I need to go to sleep as early as possible because I have the dentist tomorrow morning. Eugh. Wish me luck.

I had an unopened jar of jalapeno olives in the fridge and decided to use 1/3 of those and my teeny tiny leftover grated cheese in the lentil stew + spinach instead, and for some reason the combination feels perfectly satiating. I think I'll have no issues falling asleep. Yum!

Spoke too soon: carbs hunger hit. I'll have instant ramen and try to sleep. Prepped overnight oats with Turkish yogurt, pomegranate seeds, and mango for tomorrow morning.
