Emily Rose: The Reboot

Ahh I'm SO into the Handmaid's tale!! I think we are almost at the end of the season. I'm so hooked. Totally disturbed the housemate though so me and E watch it on our own hahhaa.

Sounds like you had a good day, yay for good arms!

I think Joseph Fiennes looks like a burns victim. I think the same about Eddie Redmayne...their mouths trouble me.

Hello!

A quick hello and want to say I enjoy reading your diary :) especially the focus on providing nutrients to your body and doing some sort of exercise every day. A free gym membership? Niiiice oneeeee.

Gonna jump on the Handmaids tale as soon as I'm finished with the Underwoods. Haha

Allthefoods - I swear to God, everyone I know both on this forum and in 'real life' are watching this show. It's great.

Lol Sunflower. Eddie Redmayne does have a troubling mouth, I agree. It takes centre stage in The Danish Girl.

Hi Delsid. Thanks, that's so lovely to hear.

1. How did today go?
It was a day of two halves. Stress City at work, but I forgot all about it this evening because I completed Race #4. A very good friend of mine has just moved to the city I'm in, she came with me and we had a really nice chat. We're going for a few drinks tomorrow night, I'm so happy to have her around again!

2. How was your food and exercise?

Did the run. I found it tough, but I feel great after it.

My food was pretty good except for the two cakes I had after the run. There was an amazing spread. It would have been rude not to have something.

3. Are you any closer to reaching your goals?
I'm really enjoying my life again, it's fab.

Just a quick post for today.

Race Challenge update:

Challenge #1: 5 miles/0:48:14/09:38.6/530 of 616/86th
Challenge #2: 3.1 miles/0:26:56/08:40.1/660 of 914/72nd
Challenge #3: 3.7 miles/0:33:32/08:59.7/273 of 313/87th
Challenge #4: 3.1 miles/0:28:18/09:06.4/244 of 345/71st

Not my best time, but my best position, so that's encouraging.

Thanks Cate and allthefoods. Loving doing the runs every week, it's great to have a weekly focus.

Had a really great weekend. I spent loads of time with my friend Lydia who has just moved here and we had the best time. She's also really into running and fitness but also going for pints, so I'm delighted. It's also great to have single female friends again! I've missed that.

We went to the park tonight with Lydia's friend Anna who is also so lovely, we drank Prosecco and smoked cigarettes and it was so much fun. I had such a relaxing weekend, I loved it.

Such a busy day in work tomorrow and it's really late, but I got loads of sleep today so it should be okay. Have my lunch prepped for tomorrow and planning on going to the gym after work.

Hey Sunflower, I didn't end up going in the end, I went home instead and luxuriated in an epsom salt bath. I needed some TLC after the boozing at the weekend.

I'm a bit off track today, as I always am when I get tired. I have my legs shaved now and I am ready to don my shorts in the morning and go for a run! I really need to do some training before the run on Thursday.

My food today was meh, reaching for sugar and bread as I always do when I am tired. It should be a bit better tomorrow.

Finished The Handmaid's Tale at the weekend, fucking epic! Loads of food for thought about feminism, patriarchy, freedom, human rights, love and family. I can't wait for season 2 as they can take it so many directions now because the book ends where the show did.

Anyway, going to snooze now, can't wait to sleep sweet dreams. I tried to teach my dad some yoga tonight, it was hilarious. I got him doing the warrior pose, it was so funny. I'm trying to encourage him to go to a few classes as his knees are at him and I think it might help.

Yoga classes would be good for him, but only if they are the right ones. If like me, your Dad felt like he had to keep up with everyone else in the class, regardless of age & fitness, then yoga classes may not help him at all. Pilates was the same. No-one wants to be the slacker in the class.
Hope you have a lovely night's sleep Emma xo

Hi Cate. I had a lovely sleep, thanks. I'm always trying to encourage my dad to get out of his comfort zone. He probably would hate it but I'd like him to give it a go anyway! It's good for him.

I went for a run after work - finally did some training. The last run I did outside of the races was on the 23rd of May and my average pace was 09:31 per mile. Today, it was really humid and tough going, but I managed a pace of 09:19 per mile. Conclusive proof that the Race Challenge™ is working! Very encouraging stuff. I am planning another one tomorrow before work to set me up for the day.

Cooking some homemade pizza now. Not the best but better than the alternative. I'm feeling very happy this evening.

It's the longest day of the year today. Going to celebrate by going for a short run in a little while. I have so many chores to do and no motivation to do them. Not much to say today. I really feel like drinking beer in the sun but it's not worth feeling tired and demotivated anymore. My feet are sore. I just had an ice cream and crisps for dinner. Still addicted to the crap. Fuck!

It always is in Oz. Lucky ducks. ;)

Going on my run this evening. It sounds like hell - really hard, but it's by the sea so it should be a bit breezier. Feckit, can't back out now!

Had a good day in work, I am very sad about being so poor though. I am trying to think of ways to earn some extra cash. Sell stuff on eBay? Could be a goer.

Friday tomorrow, think I'll go home for the weekend. My mum is off on holidays next week, so it would be nice to spend time with her beforehand. She's really excited about it.

You must have taken all our rain away Cate.

*drum roll please*
It's time for another Race Challenge update. They come around again quick, don't they?

Challenge #1: 5 miles/0:48:14/09:38.6/530 of 616/86th
Challenge #2: 3.1 miles/0:26:56/08:40.1/660 of 914/72nd
Challenge #3: 3.7 miles/0:33:32/08:59.7/273 of 313/87th
Challenge #4: 3.1 miles/0:28:18/09:06.4/244 of 345/71st
Challenge #5: 5 miles/0:46:39/09:19.6/477 of 558/85th

No new green marks, but look at my improvement between the first 5 miler and the one yesterday. I am ecstatic with that. And the lads I was running with said they found the second course slightly harder.

This week, I really feel like my fitness has gone back up again significantly. I have that sense of physical well-being back again, it's amazing. Imagine if I cut down a bit more on the junk and lose another half stone? I will feel like Wonder Woman.

↑ Me by the final run of the Race Challenge.

My love for running came back in full force this week, I must not forget how great I feel after a run ever again!! I need to keep this going now for the next 10 runs.

Loving life.

Thanks Cate.

I'm pretty tired today, went out with friends yesterday, we had a lovely day. I'm going to get up for a run tomorrow before work and sweat it out.

I applied for another job yesterday - I don't like being poor and I had a really shitty day in work on Friday. I'm not getting paid enough to deal with the stress in there. It's ok for now, but I think I would be doing myself a disservice to stay there too long (unless they start paying me more).

Anyway. My housemate had two friends in the house today, one was extremely cute, so that was fun. I went to the bar last night to get a drink and when I came back, my dream man that I mentioned before was sitting next to my chair. Oh Universe, you really have a sense of humour. We chatted for a little bit, still besotted. But I'm also hoping to meet someone else really soon.

I'm starting to see results! My black work pants that were snug on me a few weeks ago are now fitting me properly. I am so happy to see my waist returning. Long Live the Waist!

I felt so tired all day in work but I went for a run in the rain this evening. There is nothing like it. It was bliss. I was a moment away from twirling around a lamppost like Gene Kelly. I'm feeling great about myself and so excited about this journey we call life. I just know there are so many great things to come.

Making my quinoa for lunch tomorrow and chilling out to 'The Rain Song' by Led Zeppelin. Loving the rain today. :)
