Weight-Loss Coffee

Weight-Loss
I realize you are probably joking about all of the coke "facts," but just in case anyone thinks it is true...

Snopes says it is false:

But, of course, water is still better for you!;)

\i was hoping someone would post that :D

though it is a good toilet cleaner - just not a good sanitizer as the tv show mythbusters showed :D

however - if coke were really to do all those things - then wouldn't it be good for doing a "detox" of your body :D if it eats thru a steak -why wouldn't it clear out your intestines :D

::smilies inserted for a reason :: :D

usually it does mean milk and sugar... or half-n-half and sugar... but we also have lots of powdered creamers, and flavored liquid creamer as well... yay for coffeemate!

Maybe you could wean yourself off of the cream and sugar? It may take awhile, but once you get used to black coffee, you won't even want the add-ins. I drink 3 cups of black coffee every morning and I'm not planning to stop!

Me too!

I too have my daily dose of coffee about 2 cups.. not regular cup sizes, more like 8 oz cups - I use to load it with cream & sugar, but since I've changed my eating habits/style - it's been sugar free creamer all the way.. I've tried coffee black.. just can't do it!

Coffee is one morning treat I cannot do without. I have tried using sugar free sweeteners, which I don't mind in other foods, but I think it tastes horrible in coffee! So, I've cut down on how much granulated sugar I use, and I use Land O Lakes or some other brand of fat-free half and half. It's worked into my diet just fine.

I would stop drinking coffee but swap your coffee which obviously will keep you awake and energised but not something as harsh and un healthy as coffee.

Try drinking Herbal Tea, this contains anti oxidants which can speed up metabolism and aid weight loss.

Also try products such as energy drinks or Aloe concentrate - which can improve vitality and give you that much needed boost throughout the day!

I used to drink coffee with cream and sugar. Then I got a Senseo coffee maker, and it creates a froth on the coffee that to me is just like cream. All I do is put a half teaspoon of sugar - about 8 calories - and I'm good to go.

Water or Coke?

Not sure if anybody has seen this, but my father just sent this to me and I found it to be very interesting.....
WATER

#1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
(Likely applies to half the world population.)

#2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak
that it is mistaken for hunger.

#3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as 3%.

#4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs
for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of
Washington study.

#5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

#6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of
water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain
for up to 80% of sufferers.

#7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term
memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on
the computer screen or on a ! printed page.

#8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of
colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast
cancer by 79%., and one is 50% less likely to develop
bladder cancer. Are you drinking the amount of water
you should drink every day?

COKE

#1. In many states the highway patrol carries
two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from
the highway after a car accident.

#2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke
and it will be gone in two days.

#3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the
toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour,
then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes
stains from vitreous china.

#4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers:
Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds
Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

#5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour
a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble
away the corrosion.

#6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Apply a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola
to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

#7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into
the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake.
Thirty minutes before ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix
with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

#8... To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke
into the load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run
through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen
grease stains. It will also clean road haze from your
windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

#1. the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid.
It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric
acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major
contributor to the rising increase of osteoporosis.

#2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup! (the concentrate) the
commercial trucks must use a hazardous Material place
cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

#3. The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean
engines of the trucks for about 20 years!

sorry if any of this information is false, I just read it and thought someone would/could use this as a motivator to cut down on the soda. Didnt really go and research any of this stuff just copied and pasted

Yes, it is great to cut down on the soda, that's for sure. I don't think I've had more than a couple of Cokes in 5 years.

The problem with the water mythology is that people start treating it like some "magic pill." They think if they drink double the amount of water their body requires, somehow they will lose weight. In reality, the average person just needs around 64 ozs. of water, and that can come from any source, including coffee, tea, or watermelons.

Most people are not in fact dehydrated. The vast majority of people are getting enough water. What they're not getting is healthy food and exercise. That's why they put on the weight.

I love to receive this e-mail from people with it tagged high priority! It does work to remove rust and clean a toilet. I have tried but like maleficent said no sanitizing. I gave up drinking cola sodas a while back. I still occasionally drink a non carbonated, caffeine free soda like iced tea or sunny d but I feel kind of queasy afterwords if I drink one the is carbonated and full of caffeine. Maybe it is all in my head but it keeps me from drinking somethin I shouldn't!

Now on to water. I love water if it is really, really cold! I also like to squeeze lemon juice into water for a bit of change once in a while. If you start drinking your 64oz. a day and then miss a day or so it really makes you feel blah! It is a life time commitment that is good for you!!

Urban Myths aside, the sugar content is scary...

Most online resources I have found suggest a 350ml can of Coke has 7-10 teaspoons of sugar in it. 7-10! Can anyone here even imagine sitting down and putting 10 teapoons of sugar into their mouths and eating it? Yet in the past I could easily drink a 6 pack over the course of a day.

Supersize Me - The Movie - Points out that a super big gulp from 7-Elelven has 43 teaspoons of sugar in the one drink!!! Once again, I used to drink several of those per day. I shudder to think about the slurpees, since they have to add even more sugar to keeo it the right consistency..... Ick!

Once I stopped to think about the actual sugar content, urban myths and toilet cleaning aside, that was enough to put me off for life.

Soda bad - Water good!

And dont kid yourself, all those juices, iced teas and other "healthier" alternative pack just as much of a punch when it comes to sugar. Unless you squeezed it out of the orange yourself, or saw the person do it in front of you, it aint really OJ.....

Super Tankers........

The biggest mug I have ever seen was a "Super Tanker" that my boss use to walk into work with every morning. He would drink the 64 oz. of pop and then get a refill at lunch.

Denny McLain was baseball's last 30 game winner and he drank a case of pop a day. It was either Coke or Pepsi , can't remember which.

I have seen those I had coworkers that would fill them with coffee in the morning then soda in the afternoon...... I guess you could rationalize them as being a form of exercise. Hauling that bad boy up to your lips everyday has to have some manner of muscular benefit...... But 64oz of pop....... OUCH!!

Some people can do it though. I know someone personally who drinks 6 litres a day of straight up coke eveyr single day, often more and doesnt gain a pound.... Though I am sure something inside of him is wrong.... Very very wrong..... personally I suspect an alien lifeform of some sort, but nobody believes me. If I drank that much Coke a day I would certainly not need to worry about fitness anymore. Biggest problem would be finding the piano box for the coffin.....

Shudder....

I drink A LOT of coffee.
I have cut back but I still average between 3-5 cups a day.

I use 1 teaspoon of sugar and a glop of 1-2% milk per cup.
Is this really that bad? I see people denouncing refined sugar and completely abstaining from it, but doesn't a teaspoon of sugar contain only 15 calories?
That's really not much at all, is it?

I was using various sugar substitutes, but I got a little freaked out reading various articles on the side effects, and switched back to sugar figuring my piece of mind and no side effects are worth 15 calories per cup.

Though I want to WARN all my fellow coffee lovers about the evils of those oh so popular coffee creamers. I know a lot of people who dont use sugar or milk but put POUR tons of the Carnation and CoffeeMate (french vanilla, hazelnut, etc.) into the mug like it is milk.
If you look at the nutritional info on the back of these creamers, they are uber high in calories. I have seen some as high as 45 calories per teaspoon! So BEWARE of just dumping an ounce of this stuff into your black brew!

I really hope coffee doesn't slow me down and its not too bad, It would take alot for me to give it up.

I usually do about a tablespoon of creamer and sugar per mug, Sometimes I put half a cup of milk in, I always have it over ice.

I almost make sure it fits into my calorie intake, and it doesn't take up too much room.. and calories are the only thing I'm worrying about.

I bought a Senseo coffee maker that makes a single cup at a time, using a pre-packaged "pod" of coffee. I like the coffee a lot, and it comes out with a "froth", so I don't really need cream anymore. I use Splenda for sweetening, so each cup of coffee is only about 3 or 4 calories.

By the way, if you drink coffee every day, the diuretic effects are negligible. That's just another part of the urban mythology about coffee.

Will drinking 1 Diet Coke a day for 4-5 days a week really affect one's diet?

As you can see by my sig, I am trying to lose 80 or so pounds :(

Doesn't sound excessive

1 can a day of anything probably isnt too bad actually, even beer or regular coke. The fact it is Diet Coke makes it that much better. I know fitness "Nazis" who would consider it chemical poison invading the pristine temple of your body, but in my mind you could do much worse than drink a diet coke a day. I would say go for it.
