Weight-Loss Coffee

Weight-Loss
Black coffee in itself has very few calories in it.

However if you are like me, you like it with a lot of cream and sugar...lol.
Which of course is bad.

Therefore, coffee is one of my biggest demons that I am trying to battle. Sure there are low fat and low calorie creamers on the market...but i still like to put sugar in it which is still really bad.

I usually have a 2 or 3 cups of coffee a day, should I stop drinking it? I am not sure about how many calories are in coffee itself, I add creamer and sugar to it, so i add those calories into my diet. The rest of the day i drink 1% milk or water.

caffeine is a diuretic (spelling?). it will dehydrate you. this is not good for a workout program. also, you need water, especially if you are trying to lose weight. coffee defeats this purpose.

I'm curious- when you say cream do you actually mean cream or do you mean full milk? (just a culture difference question here)

I switched to the 50% less caffine coffee, and would like to switch to decaf eventually. So is it the caffine that is the real problem? I do drink lots of water and a few glass of milk during the day also. Thanks

You should be fine with 2-3 cups of coffee per day. Coffee is not evil, you just have to enjoy it in moderation.

The cream and sugar are the diet-killers. I used to have cream & sugar in my coffee, then gradually started decreasing the amount of sugar and eventually eliminating it. I still do have cream in my coffee (or milk sometimes, depending on the coffee).

ooo - cream in coffee is popular in North America - I assume you're from elsewhere...I found it strange at first that Europeans don't have cream for coffee, just milk. Half & half cream is about 10% MF I think...whereas whole milk I think is 4%....(correct me if I'm wrong).

I use this stuff called coffee creamer. I will have to look and see if they make it out of cream of milk, I'm guessing probably half and half.

Hot water and Lemon

I have a question . I have read the water thread and have been drinking about 8 glasses a day . A friend of mine told me that to combat water retention drink hot water with Lemon . I have done this and have a funny experience. I don't go to the bathroom as much as if I drink cold water with Lemon . Does anyone have an answer for why that's so ?

Water VS Coke

Water vs. Coke

WATER

75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated. (This likely applies to half the world population.)

In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied (in a University of Washington study).

Lack of water is the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

Preliminary research indicates that 8 to 10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

COKE

In many states the highway patrol carries two gallons of Coke in the trunk to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of Coke and it will be gone in two days.

To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous china.

To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of Coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.

Coke will also clean road haze from your windshield.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:

The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the "Hazardous Material" place cards reserved for highly corrosive materials.

The distributors of Coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would YOU like a glass of water or Coke?

I realize you are probably joking about all of the coke "facts," but just in case anyone thinks it is true...

Snopes says it is false:

But, of course, water is still better for you!;)

I love my coffee with lots of cream and sugar. However, I switched to sugar-free cream (15 calories/tablespoon) and Splenda. It doesn't kill my diet now.

I believe most black coffees are around 1-3 calories per cup which is very low... I do drink it every time before I run, I find it helps a lot... but I only drink a small cup of it a day and that is when I run

Most of the latest research shows that coffee is quite good for you. It has lots of antioxidants, and its diuretic effects are greatly exaggerated, particularly for those who are regular coffee drinkers. Yes, watch out for the cream and sugar, but there are good substitutes for those. Drink away!

Wow, I had always assumed 'cream and sugar' for coffee was just an American expression and that it meant milk and sugar really.

Yeh..I'm from New Zealand.

21 years of drinking coke has disintigrated 3 of my teeth causing serious pain

I drink about 10 cans of coke a day IF I COULD I WOULD QUIT trust me.. coke is like SMOKING.. i cant just STOP. I have serious dental pain but have a serious fear of dentists, so ill probobly die in a year or 2 but im that stubborn.. and this post is dead serious :)

Then you can say COKE KILLED SENY SO DONT DRINK IT :p

but coke is ohhhh so tastey. When I was in college and it came time to clean the toilet it would usually mean one swig for me, one for the toilet :D

I still drink cola every now and again...

rules can be broken... ya just can't do it all the time
