Cate's Diary

Hope you heal up soon Cate.

Oh that's terrible Cate--does it seem to be getting worse now?
The holiday sounds nice though!
I think it may have been because I walked around on hard pavements. When I get into bed I have to be so careful as my right thigh is the worst. During the night if I roll onto it, it is agony!
The weekend has been good & at 8.30 Sunday morning we are headed home. :)
Hope you heal up soon Cate.
Thank you. Surely, it must. I did come down hard.
Sounds like a good day despite the pain and frustration. I hope you'll feel a bit better when you wake up.
Thanks LaMa. I do feel much better this morning. The pain is mostly in my right hip/thigh.I think it must have been swollen up & was cushioning it before.
Looking forward to picking up Archie & getting home. Our house will be cold.

So good to be back home! It was a foggy/icy drive home. Arch was very happy to see us. He is such a cutie :beating:
1464 cals, 260 deficit, with very little exercise. Very tired, but not aching so much.

Less aching sounds like a good start. It's strange to think how little time Archie has spent with you guys so far; it seems like he's always been a part of the family!

Less aching is really good. It does feel like we have always had Archie.
Good to see you on track, 1464 calories is pretty good. So is not aching as much!
Thanks, Rob :)

Yes what an amazing fit you and Archie have been for each other. Really great.
Glad to hear you are aching less!

Thanks, Liza (& Tru, LaMa & Floater)
I had a really good night's sleep last night. I forgot to mention. Saturday was a really good day. G made the finals of the pool comp, our AFL football team won, Ash Barty won the women's Wimbledon title & Dylan Alcott won the Quad Singles title.
I hope my right hip/thigh heals soon as the pain when I roll onto it is excruciating. There must be a deep bruise that I can't see. My left knee also hurts quite a bit again. I'm going to have to be a lot more careful. I'll take Arch for a walk at about 11 & get G to come & pick me up when I have gone far enough. That works well.

No wonder you forgot about the fun things for a bit when your hip was so sore :grouphug: If you haven't been doing it already: putting a pillows between your knees/lower kegs can help relieve pressure in the hips when you sleep on your side (regardless of which is hurt and which you're lying on).

Thanks, LaMa. The bruise is now visible, 5 days after my fall. It’s a doozy! I might try the knee pillow I have tonight. I took Arch for a walk & it’s now cold & raining. That could be it for walking today. Another rest day won’t hurt me.

Hi Cate, 'I can't seem to find it now?' - but wanted to say thankyou for sharing your experience with scented hotels. Unfortunately people are to quick to beleive whatever they read. That said, I did a bit of research into it and have found some wary articles detailing how scented technology is not only harmful to the many with sensitivities, but more so in the hands of inexperienced ('Fad' adopters) it can be harmful to the most resistant of peoples. I'll be sure to ask if any hotels or likewise accommodations I intend to stay at are using the technology to avoid it myself. Seems airports and many other public spaces are using this tech for quite some time. However, I've read these places have tougher regulations as opposed to those whose knowledge does not exceed that of online glossy pictures of people seemingly sleeping blissfully. I'll stick with my plants thanks!

I hope this finds you feeling WAY better than that stay you had.

I agree Cate--sounds like your body definitely needs some recovery time. Sounds like some good resting up time in the recliner with Archie and a book are in order.
Thanks, Liza. I'm aching that little bit less this morning so that's a relief. I hadn't mentioned it before but I have been doing some squats here & there without any pain as I thought they might help strengthen my knee. I like them. I'm going to start adding some light weights exercises today (if I remember) & try for a long walk with Archie. I slept well again.

Hi, Dave. I still haven't heard back from the place we stayed so will write some letters to the papers about it. I won't be staying there again. At the weekend we stayed in an old school motel & there were no residual smells let alone pumped out chemicals. It took me about a week to recover from the exposure in June.

Yesterday I went over a little bit- 1541 cals with only a 68 deficit. We had some ice cream & stewed fruit after lunch which I forgot to log until just then :( & I had a Speculaas bickie after dinner with our fruit platter.
Started off my day with warm oats, LSA, psyllium husks, Greek yoghurt & stewed apple/rhubarb. 371 cals.

At least you remembered about it later and didn't overdo it.
I'll admit I'm skeptical about the newspaper being interested in the scent problems (unless they can paint you like a dramatically victimized poor sod) but I do think you're right to try and make your voice heard. It's the only road to change.

I hope the squats do help your knee Cate--sometimes I find certain movements like that one (and some we used to do in Tai Chi) actually seemed to make my knee hurt. I think it's all to do with form...
Anyways glad to hear you are in a bit less pain.

I don't expect the newspaper to be slightly interested, but I do think voicing your opinion is important. I'll do it soon. It probably won't get published as the company has a lot of power in this state.
this is too weird... is this what you're talking about?
Business Scenting Solutions
I don't know anything about what it actually is, Flyer, but I know scent permeates the whole building, including the accommodation rooms, dining rooms, corridors, bars & most probably the gaming rooms. There is an obsession with artificial fragrances in many buildings now & with people buying scented candles, sticks etc. There are so many places I can't go in.

I might skip the squats, Liza as maybe they're aggravating my knee. It's hard to tell sometimes. I'll stick to walking.

Yesterday was 1497 cals with a 184 deficit. I'll try to have a bit less today.
BF was eggs on oat sourdough with 1/4 avocado. Yum. 415 cals. Dinner will be either tuna patties with coleslaw or roast lamb & veggies.

Food sounds nice so far. Sorry you're in a bit of discomfort, hope it heals up fast.
