Cate's Diary

Sounds like fun interesting meals Cate.
We eat very well, thanks to G's cooking skills. We rarely eat out for the same reason. I am spoiled.
Footwear is difficult and the firmer it is the harder it gets to find something comfortable. I'm super happy with my new hiking shoes but that's the first time in possibly 20 years!
I really am going to have to try on some proper hiking shoes soon.
Meals planned sound really tasty, even if they are low calorie. Glad the stomach is better.
Thanks, Em.
I find that too. I have found waterproof boots that do work for me even on long walks, but yes they are so often hard to find!
I really, really do need some hiking shoes.
Lol your meals sound so delish. I like that you have balance. Mine are mostly baked chicken and veggies but that's not sustainable all the time, especially when things open up.
If I had to cook it wouldn't be so adventurous. I could eat chicken & veggies every day though. I love chicken.

I am really tired this morning as I had a very restless sleep for some reason. It's the social golf day today at our local course this time & I dropped G off & am now back home again. I'll go back at about 1 pm. I think I'll leave Arch at home when I go back so I can help G with the money & paperwork as there are a lot of players today. I might try to have a nap or may just have a rest.
Cals yesterday were 1506, with a 247 deficit. I need to get a bigger deficit & will walk more this week.

Back home again & it was a pleasant afternoon. G won the day & really enjoyed his day. It was very sociable.
I had my mulled no alcohol wine when we got home.
BF was eggs & avocado on oat sourdough
Lunch was cheese & green tomato pickles on oat sourdough
Dinner will be venison lasagne with lots of veggies.
Tonight we’ll have a fruit & sweet treats platter.
My cals will be 1473, deficit of 471.

Great to have such a pleasant afternoon. Good to hear!
Thanks, Liza. It was a really good day. It's always good when you are responsible for a large(ish) group (G & I) & it goes well.
Hi Cate! Just stopping by to say hello.
Hi, tdt. Hello to you too!

I'm having an at-home day & have been for a 2.16 walk with Arch before lunch. BF was Oats with fruit, LSA & Greek yoghurt. Lunch will be venison lasagne & lots of veggies, dinner will be a chorizo stir fry (I think). We will have a fruit platter after dinner. I'll take Arch for another walk at about 3 pm.

Thanks, Liza (& Misty & LaMa),
I didn't go for that second walk, unfortunately. I'll have to pick up my game! I am all healed up from the fall now, thanks, Liza. I did twist my left knee when I fell & it hurts a bit still, but not enough to stop me from walking. I think you were right about the squats too. I need to rearrange my furniture a bit so that I can get my bike back in the lounge room. Archie's crate is where the bike once was & the bike is in the coolest room in the house that we rarely go in. He never sleeps in it now, but it has his toys in it. It's big & I'll try swapping it for a smaller one, maybe a car carrier one. The physio had recommended riding my exercise bike, but it hurt too much when I tried months ago.
Cals yesterday were1437, with a 238 deficit. I need to walk more!

If you try the exercise bike again make sure to stsrt of with the seat relatively high and the resistance very low. 5 minutes is fine to start out with, until your body gets used to it.

I did, LaMa. I moved his crate into the laundry & the bike is back in it’s optimal position. I was sensible & actually only did 1km( 2 mins) & will very slowly build it up. I went for a second walk this afternoon, very well rugged up. It was cold today!
I have had a good day. I’ll see if I can keep my calories as they are & not have anything else including fruit.

Slow & steady is definitely the way to go I know. I'm much more careful with my knee these days & am so happy that it is getting stronger. I really must have a hit of golf soon. I paid my membership for the year hoping that would be an incentive to get out there, but that hasn't happened.
Cals yesterday were 1376, deficit 658. That's better!
BF this morning was just toast with PB, vegemite & jam (not all together).
Lunch will be a salad.
Dinner will be venison curry with lots of veggies & a little rice.
G was plating up 4 meals yesterday & while he wasn't looking I took quite a bit of rice off my plates & put it on his & then weighed mine. I then had 1/2 cup(about 115g) of cooked rice on each of mine. He had given me smaller plates, which was good, but I always want less rice than he gives me.
I have been feeling really good lately. I am never sure quite why, but I know that I feel better physically without any alcohol in my system, I am mostly sleeping better & I am not so anxious. Touchwood. Depression & anxiety come & go & I need to remind myself of that each time that black dog comes to visit me. Acknowledging it & then knowing it will pass is very important.
I have put my food in for the day & I am way under my protein goals. I just added 20g of Territory jerky to my lunch. I have lots of it & may as well eat it.
OK- time to faff around.

Venison curry, wow, that sounds amazing. I rarely get venison. Not a store staple around here, but I know a few hunters who usually pass some off when they manage to get a deer. One of my good friends will usually make a venison chili when he gets one and it is amazing. I like a good curry now and again though and I think venison would definitely lend itself well to that kind of preparation.

That is great! Good to hear.
each time that black dog comes to visit me
You know I think my black dog comes in the form of binges... I guess we all have our own version.

I am glad you are feeling better and the dry July seems to be working for you. Hope it continues, I think it will, your determination will assure that.

Hi, tdt. We eat a lot of venison as we know a guy who farms deer & he sells it very reasonably. It’s such lean meat & it never tastes strong. The curry was delicious & we’re having the same tonight. G also made a mild coconut veggie curry to go with it, plus we have it with 2 small papadams( cooked in the microwave) a dollop of Greek yoghurt & another of our home-made rhubarb chutney. It’s a really good meal.
Thanks, Rob. I’m having no trouble with doing Dry July this time. Replacing wine with diet soft drink seems to satisfy any cravings I might get. I think I used to binge eat but only occasionally when I felt really mad with myself or the world. Thankfully that urge seems to have faded. Also if I badly under eat during the day then I could eat anything in sight.
I’m having a really good day. Arch & I are chilling out on my recliner now & I’m going to read for a while.

Thanks, Liza (& Misty & LaMa),

Sorry to hear you twisted your ankle! I am so glad you're much better. It will take some time to heal, hope you feel 100% soon xoxo
