Cate's Diary

Thanks, LaMa. It was a big detour & he now realises that he needs to use his man bag. We got almost there today & he realised that he had left the keys to the buggy room at home. :svengo: We found someone at the course who had their keys!
I had a snooze, made the beds up, prepared the kids dinner, took Archie for a walk & am now having a relax before they get here.

We got almost there today & he realised that he had left the keys to the buggy room at home.
Double ouch! Very lucky you found someone with a key.

Yes, LaMa, very lucky. I wasn't happy when he suggested we would go there again on Tuesday. We walked around until we found someone who had the keys.
Thanks, Em. G last night said, "I hope we get another 15 years". That would be lovely.
We had all our beds filled last night so when G snored his head off I had nowhere else to go. I am very tired today. D & the kids aren't staying tonight so we won't have to drive them home tomorrow. We're just going to have an at-home day today as we're both tired.

Happy rest day Cate :)
Cate you were mentioning a bird count previously and I was wondering afterward how does one do that? Like how do you know if you're counting different birds or just the same ones coming back? I was watching some coming and going from my sunflower eating the seeds-- if i were doing a bird count I would have no idea how many different ones there were.

Thanks, Liza. It's really funny, but I am so used to checking out the birds near our house that I get to know how many there are roughly of each species. The welcome swallows flit around all the time at the end of the day & I know how many we have as I know where their nests are. The counts were only for 20 minutes each time so in each count, I would have included birds from previous counts.
I did have a good night's sleep, thanks Em & feel much more human.

As it's the 1st day of November it's time to reassess where I'm going.
New goals-
6/7 days a week one glass of wine max. Try to have some days without.
Weigh in twice a week.
Walk 5000-6000 steps a day. No more until I see a physio.
Drink 2 litres of water a day, besides herbal tea.
Lose 1kg this month.

Just saw our first snake of the season! Tiger or Copperhead but definitely about 3.5m long!
Whoops! I meant 3.5 feet!!

Oh wow, that's a beast! I love spotting snakes but I'm glad we don't have any really dangerous ones around here.

A 3.5 foot snake--yikes! I like our little friendly snakes around here--all so small and cute and harmless!

Goals are looking good Cate! I really have to try and keep up with my water intake. It's such an effort for me...

That makes sense about the bird count--I guess you get to know yours the more you're around them. Mine are all so random to me...I can't even keep in mind what type each is, even when I go to the trouble of looking them up!

Thanks, Liza, LaMa, Petal & Em. I'll never give up trying to get my weight back down again, but it sure is a battle.
Daily goals- 3/4
I really concentrated on drinking more water yesterday & felt much better for it.
I also said no thanks to an extra glass of wine when G offered it.
Snakes- We only have 3 sorts & each is very venomous. I am going to have to rethink my walks with Arch & also do some serious raking along my bush paths.
Today- Not a great night's sleep so decided not to go anywhere. I might do some of that raking & might leave Arch out in the small yard while I do. He won't be happy with me off in the bush without him. I need to try & make sure his yard is snake-proof, but that's difficult as they can get through almost anything.

it is near impossible to snake proof an area, is Archie likely to attack a snake if he spots one ?
