Cate's Diary

there will be champagne on Friday as it's our wedding anniversary
Well deserved! 45 years is certainly worthy of celebration, congrats!
My self-worth does seem tied into what those scales say & I do feel like a failure. There, I've said it.
I know that feeling, you have heard some similar things from me lately, and as LaMa says most folks here have felt that way at one time or another. However Cate, you are no failure! Not even close. You are working at things, your diet sounds reasonable now, you have reduced your wine intake, you will be (and are) just fine.

Hopefully getting on the scales more often will be helpful in shifting that fear Cate. It is a tough thing to work around those issues of self worth as everyone seems to be saying...we had a chapter on negative self talk and body image in our weight loss class, but yes, it's much easier to know this stuff in theory than putting it into practice. But I guess we need to just keep at it...
Congrats on the anniversary--that is a beautifully long time to be in love :)

Thanks, LaMa, Petal, Shannon, Rob & Liza :grouphug:
I can tell myself that what I weigh does not define me, but still my brain berates myself. It is a constant battle. I appreciate all of your support. I think most of us are in the same boat. I’ll keep working on it.
Congrats on the anniversary--that is a beautifully long time to be in love :)
That’s sweet. It is :beating:

Yeah, there is that feeling of thinking life would be better without the scales, but then I need them to make sure things haven't gone completely out of control!

I thought I had better fish my weekly plan out as I forgot about it :blush5:
"No wine on at least 4 days (there will be champagne on Friday as it's our wedding anniversary) :( Only one so far ❌
5000 steps ✔️
Bi-weekly weigh-in (I am so scared of those scales) :( Not yet.... ❌
Eating mindfully. ✔️
Minimal processed food. ✔️
No snacking. " ✔️
I had better look at my plan each day & try harder.

I'm going out to the golf club today & taking Arch with me as G & I are sponsoring the day. It was meant to be early in the year as were lots of things.

I see 4 green ticks there Cate. Well done. :)

Enjoy your day out with Archie and G. I'm sure you'll have a fantastic day ahead. After some time out last week on your own, it should be nice to meet a few more. I really hope you come away from it feeling happy and energised.

Thanks, Em. You see 4 ticks & I see 2 crosses. Isn't that just the way we are? I must try seeing the good in myself as others do & as I do with other people, instead of focussing on my negatives. It's time that stopped.
G has gone off to golf at his club & Arch & I are going out to my club this afternoon. It will be nice to catch up with almost all of them. I got a call from K yesterday & it was just lovely. She's my favourite.
I'm going to bath Arch shortly. The fire is going just for him :)

For the biweekly weigh-in just pick a specific date and stick to it no matter what happens. In-between weigh-ins that box counts as checked for me. So what if you weigh in a little bloated, then you'll know what you weigh bloated. Not weighing doesn't change the weight and your weight is not a moral characteristic :grouphug:

hope you enjoyed the golf outing Cate . And yes you are doing lots of box ticking . You should be proud. You are always so positive to everyone else here about their weight and thoughts towards it so you need to reflect that back on you .

Thanks, Liza, LaMa & Petal :grouphug:
My visit yesterday really did cheer me up. They all accepted Archie & he behaved very well. I have never seen a dog in the clubhouse before, so wasn't sure how that would go down. I was out there for almost 3 hours. It was chatty & we had lots of laughs. We're going out to lunch again in a few weeks.
Thanks for all of the kind words. I must be kinder to myself & I also must weigh in tomorrow!
4 out of 6 ✔️ yesterday
Aiming for 5 today.

Oh that's great that Archie was welcomed into the clubhouse and nice that you had such a great lunch out with everybody! Some good laughs shared with friends is always so great!
speaking of well-behaved dogs being welcomed places, I used to be in a couple of meditation groups where some people brought their incredibly well-behaved dogs. I was wowed at how they would just sit in meditation with the rest of us. We all loved having that presence with us. In one of our groups there was even a walking portion where we would walk mindfully around the room--the dog again would follow suit!

Thanks, Petal, LaMa & Liza. Even well-behaved dogs are not welcome at most places in Australia, unlike our experiences in Europe. It's a shame really as they can really cheer people up. Archie makes most people smile.
I'll make sure I keep in touch while I'm not playing as I do have some lovely friendships from golf.

We are heading off for a few hours & will have lunch somewhere that welcomes dogs. We had to change direction as G left his phone in his golf bag & we have to go retrieve it. (150 km return)
D & the kids will be staying tonight & we will have them during the day tomorrow as he's working all w/e. It was short notice. Hopefully, they'll all stay at D & T's tomorrow night as it does get a bit tiring, especially when we have to drive them home on the Sun. (80 km return)
Tues we are going to a crayfish lunch at a friend's house. (120 km return)
Wed G is driving down to Hobart to bring R & his dog back here & as much of his stuff as will fit in G's car. (480 km return)

Sounds like a busy time ahead Cate with a lot of driving! Hope you have a nice time with the gk's.
will R be staying on with you guys for a while then?

Thanks, Liza. We’re home again & I feel like a snooze, so I think I will have one. It will be nice seeing our older son & grandkids on our wedding anniversary but I have some work to do. Beds need making up, their dinner organised. Snooze first I think.
I think R will be home for a while, but it’s hard to know. We’ll play it by ear.

Ouch, that's a painful amount of driving for a forgotten phone! How lovely to have a family celebration to look forward to though.
