Cate's Diary

It´s funny how being on track is so much easier than getting on track. Mass inertia, I guess... We can do it though, and after doing well for a day or two the energy and drive come back.

Yes and no, staying on track often only appears easy to those who think they are not. And being on track doesn't always feel like it, the track can be bumpier than we imagine. The important thing is either trying to get or stay on track. And figuring out what that track is...

Cate, I know you can do this, I know it, you are a strong lady no doubt about that. And you have accomplished a lot, with a lot more to come!

Hope the solo week is going well.

Well I am a snacker... I probably eat about 6 times a day! i don't mind as long as it's healthy. But yes it's all about knowing what works for each person and what our individual triggers are.
I do find it easier to stay on track rather than trying to get on track--once I've established some good habits it's easier for me to just follow through. Like now I don't question the running--I just go on the days I'm supposed to (well most of the time.)

I liked this piece of track philosophy Rob--made me smile--esp that last piece about trying to figure out what the track is in the first place :) I think that can be applied to my entire life!

I often have 2 snacks a day although only had one today . Think it really depends on your meals and what time you eat them

Thanks, LaMa, Rob, Liza & Petal.
I feel so much better when I eat only healthy food & no processed crap. That should be my track. Figuring out your own track is the thing, Rob as you say & we are all different. I need a good break between eating my meals & need to experience hunger. I really appreciate my meal when I am actually hungry.
Yesterday I ate frittata for breakfast (lots of veggies in it), roast chicken & veggies for lunch & an orange & savoury venison mince with lots of veggies & some fresh fruit salad with a dollop of yoghurt for dinner. No crap(except for one diet ginger beer), no snacks, no wine...
I am going to stop buying diet soft drinks as well.
This morning I feel the best I have felt for ages. I also got 8.5 hours sleep.
My body is saying thank you.
I was going to go into town today, but it's overcast & not very pleasant looking. I'll see how the day pans out.

I went into town after an early lunch, took Arch for a walk along the river, visited 2 of the golfing ladies for about 20 mins each & had a lovely time. G rang & is having a great time. I told him I hadn’t had any wine for the last couple of days but felt like one. Have one he said. I haven’t & am currently having a mocktail. It’s just lime juice, ice, diet dry ginger & mint leaves. It’s simple, but delicious.
I may have just one piccolo tomorrow night, if I feel like it or I may not. I will weigh again in the morning.

Sounds like you've stepped into a really good space again Cate--great to hear :)
Nice work on skipping the wine!

Your food for yesterday sounds absolutely amazing. I can't understand how your weight has gone up again, to be honest. You always seem so on track.

Having a mocktail is a great idea. I might try that myself some evening when feeling tempted.

Thanks, LaMa, Petal, Liza, Em, Lingwo & Rob. I think having a mocktail & just going to a bit of a fuss over it is the trick. I didn't make up a carafe of it last night & didn't bother adding any mint & it didn't seem as good. Toning it down with some soda water is also the go I think. I'll make something different tonight. I might experiment with iced herbal tea concoctions. I drink a lot of peppermint tea & just got a big bag of it.

I didn't sleep well last night & just remembered that I didn't rub the ointment into my knee before I went to bed. It's raining & has turned chilly again. I may have to relight the fire. Only 2 more sleeps until G gets home :beating:
I'll have to go shopping tomorrow as I'm running out of food. I thought I might do that today, but the fire & a book sound very appealing right now. All this talk of sushi has me wanting it. I may have to drive the extra km (80 return) to get some. OK. Tomorrow it is so that I can have food organised for Sunday when G gets home. I'll take something out of the freezer (curries?) for Sun night & we can have sushi for lunch.

It rained for most of the day. I got the fire going & did read a book, but then at about 2.45 pm the rain stopped & I made a snap decision to go into town. I did a big veggie shop & gave Archie a couple of walks. I decided on the drive home that I was going to have one glass of red wine when I got home but after I put the shopping away I quickly made myself a big carafe of mocktail. It was delicious & red wine would taste awful after all the ginger, lime & mint.
I had porridge for breakfast this morning, with lots of seeds & a dollop of yoghurt. Lunch changed to a toastie- oat sourdough, cheese, salami, avocado, chilli & garlic, followed by 10 grapes & an apple. Dinner will be savoury venison mince. I am glad that's the last of it. I'm a bit sick of it.
Tomorrow will be eggs, mushrooms & zucchini on toast, a tuna salad for lunch & veggie soup for dinner.

Cate your food sounds so so delicious . Did you go and get the sushi too . 80km a long way for it although we sometimes do that for some special treats .
That week went by so fast

I didn't go, Petal. I might go on Monday or Tuesday with G perhaps & have lunch at the Japanese place instead. I just went into our local town (22 km return) so that Arch could go for his favourite walk & I could do my veggie shop with "the girls". I love shopping locally if I can.
That week went by so fast
Thank goodness :)

I may steal tomorrow's breakfast! I'll have some extra sushi in your honor :p Great work avoiding the wine.
