Cate's Diary

Also knowing that R is being supported takes a big weight off my mind.
That is great to have a community of support and not have any one or two people feel entirely responsible to hold someone up in their time of need. Nice that R has K9 and other friends as well as you. Is he still planning to come stay with you for a bit? Your camper van idea for him sounds nice if he could get his license--that's always a back up plan for me if I ever lose my housing!

That is great about R. If he could get his driver's license, that would really give him a boost. Such a good feeling!

Liza- It is such a relief that he does have such good friends. He usually only has to reach out, but he finds that really hard when he is down. He sounded so much better yesterday. Things change all the time with him, but I think regardless, he'll probably come home even just for a visit. I really hope for his sake that he & K9 move in together & that it works out for them.
Em- Having his licence would change everything. There is very little public transport in Tasmania & he loves hiking & camping. Everything is within a 3 hour drive. He would have so much more freedom.

G is playing golf today & I thought I would drive into town & do a few things that I need to do. I may visit the golfing ladies. They have been good at keeping in touch with me. I'm taking Arch. I have banking & some fruit & veg shopping to do, the library, pick up a parcel ....maybe I won't visit the ladies...

Sounds like a really love day in town Cate . Enjoy it .
Are you getting vibes that R and K9 will move in together then , thst would be fantastic.

I did enjoy it, LaMa but got very tired. Archie really loved it. I had some really lovely interactions with other dog lovers.
I think I’m just being hopeful, Petal. You never know!

It was nice, Em. There are lots of lonely people about & that stands out more now. I am happy to share our little dog with them & to stop & talk.
R had a really good day yesterday & got most of the inside of his house painted out, with help from a couple of lovely friends. He was proud of their effort & sounded very positive.
It's raining here this morning & we'll do some housework. G will vacuum. I walked a bit much yesterday & will take it easy today. Arch wakes at about 6 every morning & after letting him outside, about a week ago I started letting him up on our bed & this morning we all went back to sleep. That was nice. Sleeping in I thought had become a thing of the past.

Lol Cate he will enjoy that ! Sounds like fun .
Oh I need to do housework too .
glad R is more positive. Is he selling his house ?

Everyone always has to do housework. Even if they don't have a house! More sleep and a positive son sounds like a great day.

Things are sounding really good cate--lovely to hear! Nice that you are able to share the joy of Archie with others who can use some cheering up :)

We didn't do enough housework & the vacuuming still needs doing. R is selling his house. I hope it sells quickly for him as he has moved everything out & is staying with friends temporarily.

Our house is too big for us really, LaMa & it's almost impossible to keep up with the housework. We do love it here though so just have to lower our standards :blush5:

Thanks, Liza. It has been really uplifting for me to feel that you can cheer someone up just with a chat & a pat. I have always talked to strangers. I'll keep an eye out for one old chap(80) as he seemed particularly lonely & misses having a dog.
All the lonely people, where do they all come from?
Can confirm that it's a lonely time.
I do feel really lucky to live where I do & can only hope that we stay covid free, but it seems like an unlikely thing when they are reopening our borders at the end of this month. I would have felt very lonely during lockdown without G & then getting Archie. I am never lonely with Archie. He's my shadow & such a character. We all went back to sleep again this morning & had another little sleep in.

So many people got dogs during covid here . I love hearing about Archie he does sound like great fun. They are such a joy .
Hopefully the borders reopening won't be too bad Cate. Keep yourselves safe anyway

:D My standards are VERY low and it's still the main reason I love my tiny apartment.

Petal- People tried to get dogs here & so many people got scammed. I am so grateful to K9. I think I would still be searching for a dog or would have settled for an unsuitable one. He is perfect for us & is such a joy.
I will keep being careful, Petal & will go back to using my hand spray all of the time whenever I go out. I'm pretty good with it but have forgotten a few times recently. G is a hugger & a kisser (not in a sleazy way) & I will have to go back to nagging him again. :(
LaMa- I'm not sure what you mean, but it's great that you love your tiny apartment. I'm really clean with kitchen surfaces etc but am slack with windows & vacuuming. I hate vacuuming. G did half the house today & is doing the other half tomorrow. I don't mind sweeping. At the moment I can't do even that really.

I obviously overdid it on Wednesday & am feeling it today. Lesson learned. My leg has been aching. Actually, I have been aching all over. G goes away Sunday morning for a week. I'm going to weigh in on Monday & then I am going to lose 1 kg next week, regardless. With him not here, I can do it.

I was just thinking the other day about how I haven't even touched another person since March! Not a handshake or a touch on the arm--nothing! Everyone is still keeping a lot of distance out walking and that as well. Though I did have a little puppy come and jump up on me to say hello the other day--his touch was a surprise :)
i have toyed with the idea of getting a pet--i was thinking maybe a rabbit but my place is so small that I think it might be a bit annoying to have to rabbit proof the whole place...and then, like cats they need an indoor litter box and that would take up room...
Your house always looks so lovely and well kept up in all the photos you've shared Cate. I sometimes wish I had a bigger space to spread out a little more, but yes, I guess it's more surface area to keep clean too--i like when i decide to clean 'all my floors' and it takes about 10 minutes!

Oh wow. I have had a few people break the rules and hug me, and sometimes people forget and inadvertently touch you on the arm. I did also go for a massage - is that an option for you? I feel like a lack of touch can't be good for us.

Oh, Liza :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: We have been so lucky here. For 2 months I didn't have any other hugs except from G but now I get lots. I duck from kisses & turn my head away, but hugs from friends & family are just lovely. I stopped hugging as much years ago as I became more sensitive to perfume. I just imagined giving you a great big hug :beating:
Hi, Em. I feel the same about that lack of touch. The couple of months that we had active cases & some deaths got me used to less contact & we will have to step back again soon when our borders reopen, but I will still hug my family. It's very important to me.

It's raining here again today. They predicted a wet Spring & it looks like they're right. More housework today. G goes away tomorrow for a week. I don't feel it's safe to drive far so will just do a few trips into our local town while he's away. I have books to read & Archie for company :beating:

Wet spring there, wet autumn here. I don't like to be that person but I am: remember to keep your charged phone on your person or low enough to grab from the floor in an emergency at all times while G's away. Then you'll be 100% fine, time will fly, and I'm sure you'll lose that pesky kilo.
