I'm having a good day today. G & I are getting the house really clean & tidy as R & C & 4 kids are arriving tomorrow. We had 1 egg, a little bacon & 1/2 an avo on toast for BF & prawn gyozas on a big salad for lunch & will be having venison meatballs with veggies for dinner. Archie has had a good walk. It has been fairly warm.

They freeze really well. I must make some more & just stick to only having one. I haven't had 2 before :blush5: I'll call that a glitch. They're handy for taking to golf.

It was delicious. We usually eat well & rarely eat out. G is such a good cook & I'm really glad he does not like eating junk
food.

Isn't it funny that that is what we always worry about? Unless the kids have allergies or are extremely fussy (either of which they would've mentioned and for which they'd be used to bringing their own food) you'll be perfectly fine. And you'll probably have leftovers.
 
I feel like I should have something profound to say about your diary turning 1000...and nothing that profound is coming to mind, but I do think it's a real testament to your commitment to your health and well-being you being here so long. And I think you are amazing for being here so consistently to keep cheering the rest of us on as well! Your support to all the numerous people on this journey over the years is incredible! Thanks Cate, Forum Auntie!

I get that. it's hard being the host and knowing how to prepare...but I'm sure it will go wonderfully!!
 
I don't have anything profound either but it would be interesting what life would've turned out like if you hadn't stuck around. I know that in my case I would probably have cracked the big 1 0 0 by now...

I think if I hadn't stuck around I would most probably weigh more than when I started back in 2007. I veer off the path regularly but keep coming back to it.
Everyone except G & I is still in bed at 8.20 am & it's a minor miracle. We haven't heard from the twins yet. They are so cute!
I read them their bedtime stories last night & they were just so adorable. I do love kids & 5 is such a wonderful age.
 
They are adorable kids. R & C said they might leave them with us & pick them up in 13 years. I get along really well with them both. L is very much like R was at that age. I’ll miss them when they have gone.
 
5-y/o kids are wonderful - as long as you can give them back to their parents once fatigue sets in. Reading to kids is good fun though and I'm glad you're enjoying their visit.
 
Thanks, Llama & Liza. I’m really tired this morning. I just couldn’t get to sleep & had nowhere else to go with 6 extra in the house. Poor C. Last night L threw a massive wobbly at bedtime & C was just exhausted & didn’t reappear. It wasn’t the only tantrum of the day.

Thanks, Em, Liza & Llama. The kids were lovely, but I am very glad I no longer have small children (or teenagers).
I went out & played 6 holes of golf as I'm playing 9 holes again today & possibly having a hit again tomorrow. It was hot
yesterday too. I'm going to gradually build up to a full game. I caught up with T, which was nice & will play with her next week.
 
A belated happy new year to you, Cate!!! Love that you had such a good time with your kids/grandkids. 🥰😘Such a treasure, that time. And how wonderful that you can enjoy the magic parts… and leave them their parents when it’s over.
I love bringing my baby A to see my mom too. Feels like a gift that I get to give her… and then take home with me when we’re all tired. 😂

:) yes nice to be able to enjoy them just for short periods and then hand them back to the parents!
