Cate's Diary

Thanks, Em, Alexis, Llama & Liza (& Tru & Vic) :grouphug:
It's very peaceful here this morning :)
I played golf again yesterday & came 3rd in the chook run. I huffed & puffed a fair bit, but got around the 9 holes, pushing my buggy. It's a hilly course. I'll gradually get some fitness back, especially if I play twice a week. I need some new golf clothes & have ordered a really bright shirt to match one that G bought in Queensland. When we play together as a team we can both wear them. I thought he wouldn't agree with that, but he did. This is it- https://golfgodsonline.com/collecti...-tech-performance-polo?variant=39290437271638 I'll have to get some black capris to match it.
G & I are going out to do a morning tea for the vets this morning. He's doing most of it. I'm just helping him. It isn't much work.

That is bright. I love it!

That sounds like a great workout Cate!

aw you two will be so cute!

It was a great workout, Liza. My average heart rate was 113.

Hopefully, not tragic. Sometimes we see people our age or older in matching clothes & it cracks us up. This time we'll be doing
it as a bit of a laugh. A couple of G's golfing buddies bought the same shirt when they were in Queensland & they try to wear them on the same day. They really get some attention & some very funny disparaging comments. I almost bought one when G did, but somehow it felt different for me.

G & I will be home all weekend & that feels good. We have G's siblings coming for lunch next Friday & I would like the house to look really neat & tidy. I had stripped all of the beds & have to make them all up again & have bedding piled high in the laundry. I washed everything, including the doonas. The 15-year-old's buddy had some sort of fragrance on him & everything he came in contact with needed to be soaked in milk & then bicarb soda & vinegar. I'll hang them on the line today & hope nature will help get rid of the smell. If not, it will all have to go to the op shop. I think the fragrance is a fabric softener. It doesn't usually come out.

That would be a shame but maybe you're lucky because the materials only touched and weren't washed in it.
Our homemade hummus never seems to be as tasty as the ones we buy, unfortunately. I must have a go at making it.
Probably because yours doesn't use as much oil (and salt, and sesame paste, and possibly msg) as the store-bought stuff. Kind of like homemade versions of restaurant food never being quite the same. I just can't bring myself to use the same quantities of fat! Which does mean the homemade version upsets my stomach less.

I did the 2 soaks in the bath & have everything out on the clothesline. I’ll check them in a couple of days. 🤞

You’re probably right. We use olive oil, but might use sesame or peanut oil next time & never add msg. I will make one this week & add extra lemon(when I scrounge some) & lots of garlic(because I love it) & use canned chickpeas.
I’m having a good day today, getting the house tidy. I have washed so much bedding & have the 2 spare bedrooms looking schmicko! Want to come visit? 😊

Yes please! No peanut oil for me though, unless it's the triple filtered, industrially refined stuff :p

If you're not adding sesame paste to your hummus that makes a huge difference. I'm mildly allergic to sesame so I used sunflower paste instead but even that helps.

I did chuckle at this. But soaked in milk as a solution? 😷 Hahaha.

I do love when the whole house is sparkling. I'm bad with my room but pretty good with the kitchen these days.

I love schmicko too. I just added it to my personal diary :)
It's a lovely summer's day here today. It's still & the birds are out in force. The young swallows are having flying lessons & we have to be a little careful not to get in their flight path. Mum & Dad decided to build a nest closer to our front door this year, unfortunately. We can see the littlies with their heads peeking over the nest from where we sit outside.
@Emilyrose You make up a solution using el cheapo full milk powder & soak clothes in that, then rinse it out & add bicarb soda & vinegar. Sometimes the bicarb & vinegar is enough, but fabric softener calls for heavy artillery, aka milk.
I still have a way to go to have the whole house sparkling. The windows sure could do with a good clean. There are so many!

Loving the sound of your schmicko (love that word too!) house...
And the sound of little swallows peaking their heads out and trying out their wings...how lovely!
I hope the scent gets washed out of that laundry ok--would be a shame to have to get rid of it!

Thanks, Liza. The swallows are very cute.
The scent has gone, which is a relief. I need some more bedding, especially pillows.

We're going to the dentist today. I hope it's not crazy expensive!

The dentist's bill was reasonable & he didn't charge G so that was good. I tried on some clothes as I need some more for our trip in March. That wasn't fun. I realised on the drive home that I have a pair of black capris that will match my new shirt. They're comfortable, cool & have pockets so will be fine. They're not a fashion statement, but I don't care. I do need new golf shoes that will match my lairy new shirt.

Yuck on trying to find stuff that fits but better to do it now than last minute. Yay for reasonable medical bills though :)

That's good it washed out :)

Always good to realize one already has what one needs!

Excellent!

Thanks, Llama & Liza.
I felt like our day was quite successful, even though I didn't find the pants I wanted. I looked at the ones at home that I really love & saw they were a different brand to the shop I went into. No wonder I couldn't find anything similar. I just had a look at their online shop, but I do need to try things on. I'll check out a store in town next time we go.

I just fell down another rabbit hole looking at golf shoes & almost forgot to come back here! I have a home day planned today & will do more housework. I'm playing golf tomorrow.

I love how an upcoming event can kind of motivate you in the run-up to it. Hope you find the perfect golf shoe to compliment your 'lairy new shirt.' :D
