Weight-Loss 4 Week Get-Ready-for-Summer Challenge Chat Thread

Weight-Loss
i think this is part of the reason i joined this challenge, I try to support others but feel that most members here now have little in common with me. I have been almost to the point of disapearing again in the last couple of weeks.
yeah i saw the same potential in the challange too... I hope it works out for all of us...

Hey Cassie, I feel bad now, I was one of the ones who kinda left... I'll have to stop by your place again and see what's up.

aww ha ha dont feel bad... we all have lives, sometimes it means you cant sit on the computer making sure your keeping tabs on everyone.. lol as you've seen theres not much going on in my place lol... hopefully i'll something a little more interesting soon... lol maybe another drunken outburst? ill see what i can do lol

I suspect that many people disappear for a while every so often. I certainly have been missing since October - apart from a few occasional visits.

It can mean that people have decided to put their weight loss onto the back burner - or it can be for a load of other reasons. I continued my project but had a heap of other things going on in my life that needed a lot of focus. Changes happened regarding the principal motivator behind my weightloss and that needed a lot of thinking through and which I was not able to discuss with anyone here due to being of a private nature. It can be very hard to see a friend and not discuss the only thing on your mind. In addition my parents both went through stages of very poor health and hospital stays - and that is a concern when they are very elderly (86 and 91) and it means you basically spending a number of weeks away from home and husband.

I am hoping that this challenge will help me have enough drive to either sort out the last few pounds to get to a number that I like - or come to terms with the notion that my weight will be a little higher until I have had the surgery to sort out my loose skin and I should consider myself there already.

Yeah its all good..people inevitably disappear for various reasons and everyone is very welcoming when they come back. Margaret I say be very pleased with where you're at. Its tough enough to maintain a low weight like you are. And many of us who have been slim in the past remember how we were just never quite satisfied while we actually looked totally hot. Dont make that mistake when you are at such a low weight. Be happy and proud!

Just to be accountable... I'm on track tonight for eating also. 2995 calories, 103 g fat, 387 g carbs, 96 g protein. It could have been better for sure, but its within my range. Protein should have been higher and the fat should have been lower, but, hey gotta eat what you crave sometimes too, as long as you can be honest about it!

oh how i miss the days where i could eat 3k cals and still lose weight

I have a natural advantage there RJ, or genetic defect, call it what you will... I wil never be anything less than say 220 -230 lbs even if I starve myself. I'm 6' 8" tall...

:waving:

Lookin' good everyone!

Sorry I have been gone the past few days but the eye doc visit and hunting for glasses was quite an ordeal..(read more in my diary here or on facebook.)

LOL

I still have time to get my bootie back in gear and get my points!

* 30 mins cardio accomplished for today.

Meals on track. :)

Today eating has been ok but I had a kick arse back session at the gym although most of my weights at the moment are still at the light stage of my cycle i am realy pleased with my seated rows now at 97.5 kg and i feel confident that i can keep up with the weights set by my coach.

Ok so I am suffering from insomnia grr.. I hate this..its 3:47am right now and I have a midterm to right in the morning at 8am!!!! I dont know how I'm going to pull through but we'll see..

Also its my TOM right now so I may gain some weight..Hopefully I'll still be in the 100's though. I'm going to try to make it to the gym on Saturday..hopefully this nasty flu will be gone by then..

Oh and I was wondering whether there is a deadline to post our weights/points on Monday?

Keep up the good work everyone!!

I havent been doing a very good job of keeping track of what ive been doing and therefore the points i would have lol... the best i can remember is doing a 20 minute walk then a 20 minute video either monday or tuesday then 30 minutes on wii fit yesterday... i know i've been extremely active this week just not sure doing what... oh and i played badminton for 30 mins last night and 1 hour the night before... theres the yard work which i have no idea how many hours ive spent on that. oh i walk my daughter to and from school every day which is about 20 minutes in total... thats all i can recall for now lol. then theres the question what should i count? i walk my daughter to school every day anyway.. and does yard work count to anyone else? :ack2: oh well... i better start a journal for my activities too i guess lol

Good idea Cassie. Here's my exercise this week:

WEEK 1
Mon: 30 mins elliptical
Tues: 30 mins elliptical
Wed: 15 mins elliptical
Thurs: 20 mins elliptical

Need to kick it in gear this weekend!

I personally wouldn't include your normal routine activities like walking around doing errands, unless you purposely left the car home and walked briskly. I just feel we are overweight despite our cleaning, yardwork and walking here and there. So we need EXTRA exercise to get this weight off, hence why I wouldn't tend to count those things.

some things I would count, cutting the grass I dont but things that go above and beyond regular activities or things that i find very strenuous, like digging a pond for example lol or shoveling a few feet of snow... anything that would leave me achey the next day because I pushed my muscles.

Still on track with eating. Went for a 40 min walk yesterday, so that puts me at 3hrs 25min of exercise. Today/tomorrow is our local American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, so I will be going there with May later on to walk around the track a bit. That will easily give me 4hrs for the week and probably more.

I'm kind of annoyed b/c the scale has not changed since Tuesday--despite my self-control..lol. I was so good shopping yesterday--didn't buy a single thing that was naughty. And the ice cream was calling out to me. :reddevil:

I agree with Mof2 re exercise. Personally, if I only vacuum my house once a week normally and vacummed it 3 times this week, I think I should be able to count the other 2 times as exercise..lol. That way I'll have more incentive to have a cleaner house, and get exercise while doing it. :D Of course, when my neat freak MIL arrives on Monday, she'll probably vacuum it every day anyway, so it's a moot point.

Karl--I'm envious of your 3k calorie allotment as well. Although I shouldn't complain as thanks to breastfeeding I get an extra allowance myself. ;)

Margaret--I hope you arrived in Newcastle without incident. I know you are a strong willed person when you want to be, so I have the utmost faith that you will continue to eat well up north. However, should you sneak in a naughty treat here or there, remember that you have 2 days when your eating doesn't have to angelic. :D

ha ha I already vacuum everyday... does this make me a neat freak? (it's okay, i am and admit it) but I like to be in bare feet and with 2 kids a husband and dog there would always be crap sticking to my feet :S

Wow, you guys are very chatty! I must've missed this thread a few days ago when I last logged on, but goodness! This is a lot of catch-up to do!

So far with exercise the first day I did 55 min. between the treadmill and elliptical. Then, I made dh take a walk with me that was 1 hour long! The next day I did 45 min. worth of exercise and am planning a good 45 min to an hour as soon as I eat dinner tonight.

I'm keeping my food choices to those that are not processed and also not snacking after supper.

So far I haven't lost anything, but not gaining. I'm glad for that. My husband says that I'm looking "skinnier" even if I'm not losing according to the scale.

Today I took a 45 min walk with the kids. I got them all packed up to go to school till i got to the feild and saw no kids and found out there was no school today so I decided to just take them for a walk since we were already out anyway. Food has been better... not too much junk and mostly all fresh foods :) and tonight for dinner I got my H to go to subway instead of Mc D's!

Yay, I did well again today. Usually I do horribly on Fridays since I'm off from work. Here's my exercise status so far:

WEEK 1
Mon: 30 mins elliptical
Tues: 30 mins elliptical
Wed: 15 mins elliptical
Thurs: 20 mins elliptical
Fri: 20 mins walk; 50 mins elliptical

We were out at the mall so we ate at McD's, but I just got my usual plain hamburger (240 cals), small fries (230 cals) and diet coke. That meal doesn't usually set me back too much. Then at the mall I had a fresh pretzel thingie. But I factored that stuff in so I feel good. It always helps to shop for shoes and clothes to stave away the munchies!

Well, no exercise today, but I'm calling my plate a win today. Fridays usually suck for me eating wise, so I'll take it. I think this officially gives me my points for the week (5 days) and my base exercise Just over 4 hours so far. Bonus points should happen tomorrow. I'll do an hour of cycling and about 30 minutes of weights so I should easily enough get that.

I got 2805 calories, 91 g fat, 298 g carbs, and 230 g of protein.

no noteworthy exercise today. I was massively craving carbs so i had 6 oz of dried fruit. calories were a little high, but i shouldn't be above maintenance
