Weight-Loss 4 Week Get-Ready-for-Summer Challenge Chat Thread

Weight-Loss
I only have time for a quick post before we head to Chi-town. Walked for 1.5hrs yesterday, so that puts me at 2hrs 15minof exercise so far. I'm sure I'll get in at least the 1hr 45min required for the 4hrs, and should easily get the bonus for 5hrs, plus eating's been good all week, so I should end up with 125pts if I don't blow it while in Chicago..lmao. Scale is still at 221.5, so that is good, I'm down 4lbs from the challenge start.

Stacy--LMAO! at your wet tshirt contest--you must've won it as you were the only contestant..:smilielol5:

Margaret--Yes, I'm glad my MIL is not like yours. Thank God!! Well, I'd never invite her over for a month if she was!! :ack2:

end of the second week already... im so glad i joined its already gotten my butt into gear so much! im still not excersizing as much as i want to but at least im doing more.. its hard to resist spending my time relaxing in the sun during my free afternoons to excersize, but im trying :/
I've got all of my excersize in, just barely more then needed. And ive eaten well all week except yesterday when we went to a b day party and had no way of knowing the calories in some things but i still dont feel i did too bad :D

Oh wow, I didn't realize I have not gotten in here to chat with you guys this week.

It's been a very busy week. With it being the end of school, we've had a few extra curricular things in the evening. Then, my oldest son wrecked his car!

I haven't totaled up my minutes yet, but I just realized today is Sunday!

Lucky for me even in the midst of all the extras this week, my dh has been sticking by myself and "encouraging" me to walk with him in the evening.

I hope you all had a great week.

Well I just went to figure out my exercise minutes, and amazingly I've gotten in over 5 hours of walking this week!

I'm pretty excited about that.

However, I have not lost any weight at all. My scale has remained the same. I guess I need to up it, not just in minutes, but my exertion level.

HeeHee Kimberly. :D

From now on I will wear a cotton tank under t-shirt..At least that will give me more coverage while still not havin' ta wear a bra..lol.. ;)

Here is my update..I will be too busy to report tomorrow bc of the holiday/my b-day bash at parents:

:( I'm sad that I don't get any points after doing a GREAT job!

I have lost 2.6 lbs in 2 weeks which is great I think!

* I have also lost a bunch of inches.

Oh well..I will most likely be eliminated this go around..

Everything would have worked out if I would not have been up for 26 hours!

I made both church services and I'm proud of that bc that was an accomplishment in its self! (I really just wanted to go buy ciggs and stay home) :sifone:
I LOVE my Church Family! Everyone was hugging me and lovin' on me; 110% supportive and giving me pep talks. No one has an attitude there like, ("OooO my gosh, she smokes/was a smoker")

I didn't get up until 6:30PM (passed smooth out once home from church..)
I got in bed around 1:30PM

I felt like a zombie once up and kinda sickly, so I was not able to force myself to exercise.

If I'm eliminated, I'll still post in here to cheer you guys on!
:grouphug:

I'm so excited that I'm almost at my 10 lb mark!!

:hurray:

Phew, finally had a minute to catch up on everyone! I am REALLY proud of Cassie for getting into the 170's! I remember not only her hot avitar from the last challenge but also that she was in the 190's (am I recalling that correctly Cass?). This is awesome progress! Talking about progress, can't believe Kimberley is friggin 4 pounds short of her pre-preg weight already!! And Cherry is DOWN 7 POUNDS in less than 2 weeks! Hickgurlie, I neva imagined a church girl such as yourself would be giving peep shows to the neighborhood gentlemen haha..my huge boobs would be flopping over my shoulders if I didn't wear a bra! hehe And woman of course a few pieces of birthday cake are more than allowed! I see Cabbie, RJ and Omega are on track AS PER USUAL :). Sweatpea keep up the great job!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY and God Bless our Soldiers and their families.

Monday so far is going well
I've done my normal treadmill walk (7.25 miles) and my food is on track.

I am carrying some food weight today - but that is easily explained by a lack of toilet activity. My weight is 2 pounds up from yesterday morning!!! I am used to this happening and just hoping for some toilet activity before tomorrow's slimming club visit. My food may be of a reasonable calorie level and all healthy stuff (tons of fruit and veg) but I do eat a lot of it - and it does bring a lot of food weight into the equation.

It is great to see that everyone else is doing great.

I hope that everyone is having a great bank holiday. It is a bank holiday here in England too - but nothing to do with memorials (we do all that in November). It is the Spring Bank Holiday here. We are having a quiet day at home. It is nice to have Rod off with me. For once it is good weather on a bank holiday too (rain forecast for later - but no sign of it yet.....).

Sunday my eating was on the far side of good, but still okay. Today was very good.
Sunday: 2900 calories, 120g fat, 128g protein, 335 carbs

Only exercise was a bunch of yard work.

Monday, 3081 calories, 117g fat, 148g protein, 400g carbs

30 minutes of weights, 1 hour 10 minutes of cycling.

So the last week ended well, and this one is starting well! I am down another 3 lbs from last monday so I'm down 6 for the challenge so far. Yay Me!

Stacy, how's the smoking going doll? Staying on track?:toetap05:

:waving:

Good News:

I had a great Memorial Day/B-Day Bash.

We had BBQ, Chips 'N Dip, Soda, Strawberry Shortcake Pie, & Ice Cream.

I did have a little bit too much BBQ to be honest! lol

Everything else was normal portions and no 2nd's.

Our visit was going great.

Bad News:

My parents started their usual cut-downs and fighting and it became very stressful and at one time we were all arguing.. :rolleyes:
*Good Grief*

It's so embarrassing! :ack2:

By the time Dave, Cory and I got in the car to come home, all 3 of our chests were hurting. (from the stress/anxiety)

I was driving and Dave told me to pull into the gas station and he bought 2 packs of ciggs. (at least it wasn't a carton!)

I know...I know...I'm an idiot.

I have not been able to share this yet on facebook bc it is going to bring such disappointment to my church family. That just breaks my heart.
:sifone: Why is this evil thing so powerful and as you smoke there is NO guilt, just pleasure. After your done there is GREAT guilt and 'failure' to deal with.

We have both got to learn to deal with stress without turning to ciggs.

Here I was up 26 hours Sunday and most likely that was gonna be the last horrible withdrawal symptoms and now I have to start ALL OVER!! :smash:

Dumb..Dumb..Dumb!!!!
:iagree:

Week 2 went well exercise wise..not so well food wise..however I did manage to lose a pound. I exercised well over the minimum amount of 4 hours but didnt get to go to the gym everyday like I had hoped.

Stacy - I'm sorry to hear that your birthday celebration with the family took such a stressful turn. The sad fact is that no-one can get to you the way that family members can - and (because you love them) it can be impossible to distance yourself from people in a way that you would with anyone else.

It is a shame that you and Dave succumbed to temptation - but forgive yourself for being all too human - just like everyone else here....

I am certain that your friends from church will continue being nothing but supportive towards you. Like all of us - they will be sorry that you will have to repeat pain that could have been behind you - but I am sure that no-one will judge you. You are not harming them by your actions (only yourselves). No-one is in a position to judge you or anyone else.

I have thankfully never smoked - but I did live for decades with a much more serious weight problem than you have thankfully ever had. I do know all about temptation and moments of weakness. The fact that you have given into temptation should not signify the end of the attempt to a healthier lifestyle - any more than the toffee binge that I went and did in February this year did for me (a gain of 3 pounds in 1 day resulted). Or for that matter the major binge which could easily have ended this weightloss attempt in late 2007 where I ate everything that I could find that wasnt nailed down one day (in date / out of date - it didnt matter)......

Praise yourself your your days of self control - and for losing weight due to healthy eating and exercise while going through the cravings of withdrawal.

Draw a line on your moment of weakness - let Dave finish any cigarettes that remain. Like me with Rod - you have to disconnect your attempt to become healthier from Dave's. Rod is still as big as ever - and Dave may not be able to quit smoking. We are independant women - and can become healthier - even if they fail or are less determined than we are. It is easier for us if they are not putting temptation in our path - but if we stay firm we can overcome those pangs of temptation as we watch them do as we would like to do - be it eating fattening stuff or smoking.

I am having a great Tuesday. I was fairly focused today - and Stacy knows that for me focused and obsessive are very similar words.

I got up bright and early and did 7.25 miles on the treadmill at 4.0mph.

The weather here continues to be nice so decided to wear shorts - which I prefer in the good weather - and also happens to be lighter in weight than jeans....

Walked the mile plus to Weight Watchers and got weighed - 9 st 0lbs i.e. 126 pounds - and I have my WW goal weight set at 9st 2lbs - so it was immediately declared that I was at WW goal and I got my gold membership where I attend without paying money as long as my weight is between 123 pounds and 133 pounds.

Walked the mile plus home and wanted to push things along so got onto the treadmill and did 2 miles - actually varying the speed between 4.3mph and 4.4mph.

Walked the mile plus to Slimming World (and I guess that the extra time and walking did the trick) and I weighed in there at 8st 13lbs i.e. 125 pounds. I have my SW target weight set at 9 st 0lbs - so it was immediately declared that I was at SW target. I got presented with my outstanding stickers which went right up to the 12 stone award (having lost 12 stone in total - much of it before joining them!) As a target member I can now attend without paying money as long as my weight is between 123 pounds and 129 pounds.

I made different goals so that I could set a standard lower limit where both nag me to gain weight.

I then walked home.

The weighing at 8st13.0 got at SW is a new low so I have reset my ticker accordingly.

Phenomenal!!! Margaret, that is absolutely top notch. You actually made it below your goal!:party::party:

I am ticking away, little by little.

Exercise recap so far.
Monday: 30 minutes strength training (push) and 1:10 cycling (18+ miles)
Tuesday: 30 minutes strength training (pull) and 48 minutes cycling (12.5 miles)

Total 2:58 so far.

I had a winter/early spring weight loss meltdown, and had gone up about 20 lbs. I'm recovering, I've dropped a total of about 10 since being back on the wagon, maybe a little more.

The cool part is the fact that even though I gained, I had continued to work out and (since I was obviously NOT at a caloric deficit then...), gain muscle. Now that I'm dropping, I'm fitting back into clothing that was only just fitting when I was 10 lbs lighter than my current weight. Hooray for body composition changes!

Thanks Karl.

I really didnt expect the 8st13 reading and got such a shock on the scales.

My SW leader has lost over 100 pounds herself and is still on her journey downwards. We really can relate to one another. She was in tears some time ago when I got so that I could wear my wedding ring properly. That week she also sent an email out to everyone in all her groups saying about the wedding ring. Well - she came running over while I was still on the scales to see - and was in tears again. I felt myself get quite emotional too. I didnt expect to get a new low there. It was kind of a show stopper - before the group had even started. It kind of took over everything. She told everyone that came in after me about it.....

My WW leader is well meaning, enthusiastic and supportive - but hasnt got the same experience. She lost about 20 pounds some 18 years ago. She never had the same problems or the same need for a major project to sort things out.

I have to say that I would not have got that weighing if I had a/ done a normal morning's exercise and b/ worn jeans.

I will not intentionally eat more or reduce standard exercise levels until I feel that I would get a goal weighing under "normal" circumstances. That should keep me doing as before for the remainder of this challenge at least.

Well done Karl for gaining that muscle and therefore having a better shape than the last time you were that weight. It is truly amazing how our bodies change when we embrace BOTH healthy eating and exercise.

Phew, finally had a minute to catch up on everyone! I am REALLY proud of Cassie for getting into the 170's! I remember not only her hot avitar from the last challenge but also that she was in the 190's (am I recalling that correctly Cass?). This is awesome progress!

I believe that right... i know i started a new journal when i hit 199 and i think that was around the same time... Thanks Claudia :)

Way 2 Go Margaret, Karl, Cass, Everyone!

:party:

Am I still in this Claudia, or did I get eliminated this time?
*LOL*

Thank you soooooooo much Margaret for your beautiful reply re: my issues.
:grouphug: You made tears build up..(in a good way) :)

I have taken everything you said to heart, and I do agree with you 100%!

~~~~~
Ms. Debbie and I have plans at 8PM to do our 4 miles again tonight so that will give me 2 hours already!!!!
:seeya:
Stacy - you have to know that everyone here really wants you to overcome your demons. We all have them - just they take on a slightly different character for each of us.
It is brilliant that you are getting into a great routine with the walking. Your friend Debbie is being a great support to you. Remember - if she cannot get out walking any day - just imagine that I am there with you. Every day I will be doing my walk.... Remember the old "pedometer buddies" days a year and a half ago.... We clocked up some great distances.
