Weight-Loss WLF Team Challenge - Team SUCCESS!

Weight-Loss
35 pounds is an amazing amount of weight lifting...

Me too regarding the challenge.
I think that it is the only fair way.
It is ok for Christine to be asked for a ruling and consider it - but her ruling is the one that should be followed - not over-ridden...
I'll probably end up losing some of those weighing points - but that doesnt matter. I dropped the points the other week regarding the fruit juice in my tinned fruit too...

Yeah, it's not a big deal if some people can't/won't get the points. It's not like the challenges are set in stone; they change every week.

Got 1/2 hour in of walking; despite it being sunny, it's still cold outside. And I had to change my route a little. There's construction on a new house going on in the cul de sac behind my house that I usually end my walk at because I cut straight across to my back door.

1 point of exercise done this morning between 25 minutes on the bike and a 10-minute low-impact cardio workout I found on YouTube. I'll probably do the outside portion and count that as my other half for the exercise. 1 L of water down and it's still early, so I have plenty of time to finish up the other 2 L throughout the day.

Well done!

I've done well over an hour of outdoor walking today which means that I managed the outdoor walking thing all week... I doubt that I will bother doing any other exercise today.

I've had 1 litre of water so far today. We are going to the theatre tonight and I will probably have a litre of water while we are there... I need to try to slot in another litre during the rest of the day.

The no junk food and no additional sodium should be pretty much business as usual for me...

I wonder how everyone else is doing. I hope that everyone is having a good week.

I see everyone is doing great.

BELINDA..I seen you hard a exhausting but great day with your daughter..35 lbs is alot to carry around all day..lol..I miss the days of school trips.my not so kids anymore, now are 18 and 21 so those days are over,so enjoy them to the fullest.Great job on getting the points as well.

OMEGA..So jealous you are going to the theatre tonight. My husband and I say we are going to go but never do.Great job on all the points as well

I have been trying really hard to get the litres of water in..I have managed to get 2 in per day this week but thats all i can get in.I have done the 2 already but soooo bloated.so i dont know if I will get the other one in or not.

I have one more month to get into my anniversary dress..I think I still have alot of work to do..Dont wanna try the dress on for fear of it looking hideous.if it does I will have to do some FAST shopping.. and maybe rip that one up in the process.lol

WEIGH-IN TOMORROW...GOOD LUCK EVERYONE

Blah! I only lost .2 pounds. But a loss is better than a gain, at least! Which isn't really bad, either, considering I had some chocolate and did go out to eat at a really nice restaurant last night and had about half of a 12oz ribeye with some kind of garlic/butter sauce and very sweet dinner rolls.

I do bet my husband gained after that dinner last night :p Anytime we do something like this, he gains and I either stay the same or lose. He's lost almost 30 lbs since we started this new diet/exercise routine back in March. I should have talked him into joining this forum and this challenge!

Anyway, new week, new mini-challenges. Should be fun and some parts (like the no microwaveable foods) will be tough to do. But that's the point of a challenge! Good luck, everyone!!

4/27: 2 points for exercise, 3 points for water, 4 points for mini-challenge (weighing in for overall challenge counts)
4/28: 0 points for exercise, 3 points for water, 6 points for mini-challenge (sick day--no exercise)
4/29: 2 points for exercise, 3 points for water, 4 points for mini-challenge (the scale was giving me this come-hither look :( )
4/30: 2 points for exercise, 3 points for water, 6 points for mini-challenge FULL POINTS
5/1: 2 points for exercise, 3 points for water, 6 points for mini-challenge FULL POINTS
5/2: 1 point for exercise, 3 points for water, 4 points for mini-challenge (missed the jumping jacks)
5/3: 0 points for exercise, 2 points for water, 6 points for mini-challenge

9 points for exercise
20 points for water
36 points for mini-challenge

And, also, do we get to count the points for not weighing ourselves because the challenge itself calls for it on Saturdays, making it unavoidable?

First of all - the bad news... I weighed in for the challenge with the same weight as last week... It all means that I have the worst weight record of all participants in the challenge.

The good news is that I otherwise got maximum points. No junk and no added salt are things that I have tried to do most days for the past six years... I really cannot say that it stretched me at all... Walking outdoors has been a major thing for me for the past six years too. I do not drive and tend to walk everywhere... Walking quite a few miles every days is very much part of my routine... My exercise levels tend to be high... In truth - I really only needed to make an effort to ensure that I had at least 3 litres of water every day - as it is more than I normally have...

I am not as disappointed with my lack of weight loss as people may imagine... I am getting smaller which is really more important to me... My weight has been static for over a month now - but people that see me all the time (in the same dance crowd) have been commenting that I have lost a lot of weight... This prompted me to try on my UK size 12 (US size 10) jeans that I hadnt been able to wear for the past year and a half... I have been able to fasten them for the past week. OK - they are a squeeze - but I didnt need to lie on the floor to zip them up or anything - just pull my tummy in... I could not pull them properly up a month ago never mind fasten them - and now I can fasten them... I did so again this morning...

I think that I have been losing fat and making muscle... I do exercise quite a lot... The dancing and zumba all includes more core work than people would imagine (especially for a woman)... It isnt just cardio - as posture and line are important...

For instance - the other week we did a lot of dips in one of our salsa classes... This is more intensive core and leg exercise than the cardio that most people would think of when you mention a salsa class...

On some dips you straighten a leg as in this clip but on others you bend that leg around the man's leg to try to balance most of your own weight that way...

Maybe I'll try on my jeans every day this week instead of weighing myself... At this rate - seeing the jeans fastening might be more encouraging than seeing pretty much the same weight flash up at me... Not weighing will be difficult - especially with Rod weighing every day - I could hop on without thinking and drop the points... To be fair - I have long known that all the experts say that we should not weigh every day - but I have tended to ignore that advice... That is not to say that I think that the experts are wrong - just that people are all different I am willing to think that something that works for me might not work for lots of other people... I will try to follow expert advice for a change. I do know that I was very upset over Christmas when I was seeing a big increase in weight every day... It was good that I stopped weighing for a week - and my weight stopped going up over that week. Habits are hard to break though - and even though I try - I will probably drop some points... I should still end up with some pretty healthy points over the week though - so it doesnt matter too much if I do drop some points...

At least - with there being "no weighing" points every day - I will get rewarded if I stay off the scales for just one day... if the points had been across the whole week I could have struggled and stayed off the scales for 5 or 6 days and then got no reward if I had thoughtlessly got on one day...

We had a fun night out at the theatre last night. We went to see The Reduced Shakespeare Company do the complete works of Shakespeare which is actually very funny...

Yesterday was actually a bit of an anniversary for us... It was 28 years since we first met... I thought it was really sweet because Rod pointed out that it was for 26th April when he said that we should get tickets...

Christine - at the rate you are losing weight - the biggest danger may be that the anniversary dress is too big for you. I envisage you looking stunning in it (and posting pictures)...

Belinda - well done at the meal out... We are actually going on a meal out tonight so I am hoping that I can follow your lead. You have a good point about the "no weighing" point for Saturday... Hopefully Christine will give a ruling...

LOL Belinda - it appears that some people have dropped out - so there would be room for your husband if you could get him to join the forum and the challenge... I'm sure that all it would take would be a "can I join in" posting... Then you could encourage and motivate each other...

Omega, you are super active and yet weigh the same thing. I'd have to agree with you and say while you're losing fat you're also gaining muscle. There is no way you could be that active, eat healthy, and not lose anything at all. So the muscle has to be keeping you at the same weight.

Did well over an hour of outdoor walking today. Got my 3 L of water done. No microwaved meals/food. 25 jumping jacks done early on. And I'm still waiting to hear if we can get points for not weighing even though the overall challenge called for it today before claiming full points.

Well done Belinda - you did better than me!!! :(

I had a pretty busy day on Saturday.
We were up and our first appointment was our private salsa lesson at 9am which was over an hour long (our teacher is so sweet and often gives us a bit extra time) - then there was over an hour of zumba at 11am after that (same sweet teacher)... Anyway - the afternoon was pretty rushed as we had things to do and our evening out was suddenly brought forward to about 5pm so the men could watch the football game on TV (NUFC lost 6:0). We were out until late...

Anyway - I managed to have my water ok and didnt microwave anything all day (only had fruit and yoghurt meals at home as we ate in a restaurant for our main meal).

It was however this morning before I realised that I had never got around to doing the jumping jacks... It was just like I predicted when the jumping jacks were first announced... My biggest problem is going to be remembering to do them... My brain is seriously forgetting to do things these days that are outside my normal pattern... I am putting it down to being 53!!!

Its such a shame that you didnt post a few hours earlier that you had done them as I checked the forum before I went to bed and would have done them if I had remembered... Our time zones are all different here and you posted at 2:25am here which is after I went to bed even though I was up late...

The good news is that I remembered not to weigh myself today as I got dressed.

In all honesty - my weight could well be up a bit from last night's meal out.

I chose pretty wisely - it was an Indian restaurant... Everyone ordered popadoms for the table - and there ended up being 2 popadoms each ordered - but I had about a quarter of one - so not much really...

Then for my main course I had tandoori chicken with salad and plain boiled rice and two chapatis...

While I would have been better off without the rice and chapatis - I at least opted for the healthiest option regarding rice and breads... I am pretty certain that I chose a lower calorie meal than anyone else at our table...

Sorry about that, Omega lol

I highly doubt you gained. Or, if you did, you'll burn it right back off with all the dance classes you do!

One thing is for certain. I know that I will be doing a heap of dancing this week. I ought to burn up a whole heap of surplus calories before next Saturday - and I am trying not to weigh before then. The "no weighing" thing may actually work for me if I am lucky.

LOL - I've just remembered that we definitely did one dance which contains quite a few jumping jacks with crouches in at the end in the zumba yesterday... If we do it again during this week - I will aim to count to see how many there are in that dance. It is possible that there will be 25 in the closing passage and because each is to music beats there is the same amount in that track every time... LOL knowing my luck there will be 24!!!
