Weight-Loss WL competition TEAM GOLD

Weight-Loss
Well done Justina for getting back on track with both the gym and back to healthy eating.

Well done for 2 days with no chocolate.

I'm afraid that my scales did not love me today. In fact they hated me...

I went high sodium yesterday. Not only did we eat late after salsa (after 11pm) so I am still carrying food weight - but I had boiled gammon with vegetables for my meal. It was a healthy meal but it was high sodium and there were a lot of vegetables...

I drank my full 1 ounce of water per 2 pounds of weight for yesterday - but it didnt save me.

I am afraid that I gained 0.4 pounds on last week.

The sad thing is that I weigh every day and have have been less all week.

Thankfully the only real weighing that counts for points in this challenge is the one at the very end. I promise to make sure that I have less than 2300mg sodium and drink my full allocation of water in each of the last three days of the challenge.

On the positive side - I did manage to get all my exercise done - so maximum points there...
I did a lot of walking every day and attended all my classes. ie
Sat 1hr zumba
Mon 1hr aerobics, 1hr zumba
Tues 2.5hrs salsa
Wed 1hr zumba
Thur 2hrs salsa

Ok, so it's no secret - I had a terrible week. The worst...Ugh..
It is so easy for me to put on weight....if i only i could lose it this fast!

Anyway, here are my results from the score sheet:
Feb. 15 gained 5 lbs & current weight is 262 lbs :( Overall: 9 lbs lost & 3.32%
ex. points: 11

Why is it so bad?
- totally guilty - eating the wrong food at restaurants & home
- totally guilty - not portion controlling much
- totally guilty - not doing enough exercise
- not so guilty, just the hormones - hungry all the time as ToM is approaching...ugh

Emotional roller coaster is hopefully over for now, things are really getting better for us & I can continue this journey without more major interruptions.

I promise to do better this coming week... gained weight is hopefully easy come and easy go - if I tackle it right now.
I bought the right types of food for the week (did grocery shopping yesterday) & determined to exercise an hour (at least) every day.
Bring it on! :smash:

Hope you guys have a better weigh in day!

Justina - despite all this - your 3.32% loss is quite a bit better than my 2.75% as of today.

I am confident that you will lose those 5 pounds pretty much as soon as TOM is over... The gain will be falling away as we speak. LOL you will probably lose those 5 pounds and more so quickly that you will be picking the next mini challenge for us :rotflmao:

I have remembered to do my 10 minutes of nothingness today. I had forgotten up until a short while ago (I went up to my bedroom and claimed some peace and quiet there).

Don't forget to find 10 minutes to breath deeply. We are all capable of doing it every day - if we simply remember and make the time.

Try not to fall asleep...

Hi guys, the SCALES HATE ME TODAY....:cuss:

I know its ToM, but my goodness, cravings, conch fritters and water retention the day before weighing = DISASTER.

Put on 2.2lbs. Do you know the sad part, I honestly think by Monday my weight will be down again. Ah well, you all know the motto "Accept the things I cannot change."

So here's hoping that 22nd treats me better. :seeya:

I wish Tuesdays were our weigh in days. I always seem to be lighter then. It's past Tuesday I was 189.0, and now today I am 191.4. Crazy! I guess that means that next week should be a good weigh in week for me.

Walking 10 km tomorrow with my running buddy. I'm a little worried about blisters but I think it will be fun. We did 7.5 km last week so this isn't that much longer.

The final weighing is the only one that really counts for this challenge.

In the meantime our weights are liable to wiggle up and down - hopefully for all of us in a downward direction.

Korrie mentioned in her team thread a couple of weeks ago that she was not intending to weigh herself that week because of TOM. I suggested that she may want to consider imposing a flexibility regarding the final weighing so that we got the choice of maybe up to five different days for taking the final weighing of the challenge... Such an action would help a lot of people - particularly ladies who happened to get a TOM gain at the very worst date at the end of the challenge.

Korrie never gave a reply to this concept - but I will campaign for this again before the end until a decision is made.

Ironically due to sodium - my weight this week would have given me a 1 pound loss if I had taken my Thursday weighing or my Saturday weighing. My Friday weighing gave me a gain. My Monday weighing was better again.

Weight fluctuations suck. it's why I weight every day, so I can see what my overall trend is.

Sounds like a tough week for team gold! Lets go for it this week everyone!

Ps I lost a little again this week. I'm at 3.95% loss now for the competition, which I'm happy with. Not sure if I'll make my goal at this rate though.

- .4 this week, but I rebounded 6 pounds from Wednesday which has me pissed off. I didn't do anything but exercise and follow the diet so it bummed me out. I'm super stressed right now otherwise and won't be around as much because of work. I decided to cheat on food last night and my body needs a break so I won't be exercising today. I'm still almost at 5% loss with the 6 pound rebound, but I was over 6% on Wednesday. I'm doing the meditation thing too.

Hey Team Gold :) I am back on the wagon! :)
Worked out on both Friday & Saturday in the gym! Yay!
So I am hoping to lose the guilty pounds I gained last week.

Here is to a better week for all of us! :cheers2:

You are all doing brilliantly.

I hate to admit it - but I forgot all about the meditation yesterday.

I otherwise had a good day. My calories were right and I hit my protein, calcium and fibre targets... My sodium was slightly over the 2300mg recommended limit (I got 2451mg)...

Sodium levels are still something that I know that I often need to work on. I drank my water to try to counteract the effect...

I must admit that I would not have expected to get 1081mg of sodium in 2 cups of celeriac. I never add salt to my cooking or on the plate - but that really threw out my sodium stats for yesterday...

I did both my salsa lesson and zumba class yesterday plus a little outdoor walking...

I just have done outdoor walking for exercise today.

I have done today's meditation.

Well done Anna

I have done my quiet time for today - so I have only missed the one day so far.

I am finding it a difficult one to remember to do though...

Most things that turn up in these challenges are things that I either do every day or know that I ought to be doing them... I tend to find such things far easier to remember...

My exercise levels are still good. I have had an aerobics class today and done some outdoor walking... I didnt get to the Zumba class that I sometimes get to on a Monday. My attendance is dependant upon getting a lift to the sports centre involved as it is in another area - and there was no chance of a lift today...

My stepcount for today is 25,648. It is almost midnight.

My stepcount for yesterday was 17,907 - it was just outdoor walking.

My food has been good both days.

Sunday stats:
1492 calories
109.7g protein
2045mg calcium
15.1g fibre
1252mg sodium

Monday stats:
1329 calories
92.7g protein
1511mg calcium
17.8g fibre
1086mg sodium

the biggest flaw is that it is a bit low on fibre - but I am pretty pleased with it just the same...
I find that I do not consistently hit all my targets these days... Maybe I can find the old me that could do that better...

Hi team,

How is everyone doing?

Well, to start it off, went to a Naturalistic Consultant today, is that what they're called? Anyway, he was nice kind, informative, but I don't think I can stick to what he recommends.

I have almost completely given up Soy, they say Almond Milk is better for you. I don't do the artificial sweetener route, I would rather just lower my sugar intake. I know I have to give up the dairy, but I have almost completely cut it down to nil, not quite nil, because every once in a while I want my Lipton tea with cream. But now he is stating NO MEAT, NO DAIRY OR ANY KIND, NO EGGS, NO YELLOW GRITS, NO SALT, ONLY SEA SALT (but isn't salt = SALT) NO SUGAR, NO RICE UNLESS ITS WILD RICE, NO OATMEAL, ONLY SPRING WATER,.... and a bunch of other NO's...:svengo:

I explained that I understand that I have to change my eating habits, which I am and have slowly done, but it seems a bit extreme, oh yeah, no MICROWAVE, sheesh.... there has got to be a better way to be healthy, eat healthy without all of the restrictions.

I don't know what it is yet, but I am the QUEEN of compromise, I will find a way to incorporate the best of his world (the NATURALS) and the best of the real world, (THE PROCESSED), there must be a way for them to co-exist, and I will find it....

Other than my mini rant, and the hurting knees, hope everyone is doing great, getting in that 10minutes of self-awareness and relaxation, see ya next time:seeya:

Hi all! Transparent, the unhealthyness of a microwave is what often gets put in it (processed junk). Microwaves are focused long wave energy that are between radio and infrared that create alternating electromagnetic fields that cause the water molecules to flip back and forth very fast creating heat that cooks the food. It isn't really "nuking" the food (electromagnetic radiation not nuclear)and it doesn't somehow magically zap out nutrients. Any cooking breaks down some nutrients and increases bioavailability of others. The worry about the creation of free radicals is also misguided. Free radicals can be created through microwaving, but they are reactive and short lived so they react and are no longer free radicals once the energy input is stopped.

I missed my exercise Sat and Sun and ate a little over calories over the weekend. I'm under calories today and I'll have tons of exercise this week. I'm enjoying the meditations. It's helping me keep my sanity or at least keeping me less insane.

Transparent - I actually agree with your doc. We haven't used microwave for about 3 months now - I can totally live without it. (First when my mom got rid of hers - I was so angry - then she offered to heat up whatever I needed)
Of course it's a personal choice for everyone. I don't feel it takes a lot longer to heat up food in the oven or on the stove. & it actually tastes nicer.
As far as I know it is not dangerous per se, but it destroys the nutrient value of the food.
If you are interested here is more info from a blog I follow.
As I said, it is a personal choice. For me it took about 3 years to healthily myself! I took baby steps. :)

I am doing pretty good. I did exercises every day! :D i am really proud.
Food is ok. I eat more for lunch - today burritos (home made) but i did juicing for dinner.
I do the challenge too - & liking it - it was a great idea!!

I hope we all have a happy scale week!

Allright - hope you guys are all doing great. I have been having a great week as far as exercising goes. Gym every day & I have been chocolate free for a week!!! My husband is showing me pictures of chocolate fudge right now to torture me - lol...it's working...40 days to go.
