Weigh Yourself Everyday (or frequently) Club

Some weights / goals I am looking forward to:

243 - Saw this number about 2 years ago
238 - Briefly there 4 years ago
230 - out of obesity 2
213 - Since being over 200, I've been down to this number twice
200 - Heading into Onderland. Out of obseity 1 (just overweight at this point) Haven't been to this number since mid 20's
175 - Current Goal
156 - Weighed this in the 10th grade. My 86 year old dad weighs 151 with clothes on. I could swear he looks like he weighs 100

156 - Weighed this in the 10th grade.
I am now below what I weighed in the 10th grade, for the first time since then. Never thought I could get even close to that. It is amazing how used to being overweight I got, and convinced myself I was "big boned" and could never get that light again. I was wrong. You can do this Tom!

Well regardless if I am big boned or not, I know I can get down there. It just takes a lot of work.

Hey Tom, of course you can get there, and I am expecting to watch you do it. As to the hard work, looking back on my experience I would say it took persistence and patience more than hard work. I was only able to do that once I realized that my best goal was to do well today, do that and the long term will take care of itself! Err, I know you are bouncing a bit, but I do not believe you are long for the 200s my friend. For me that was a big milestone, saw that you briefly saw something in the 190s a couple of days ago, that will happen more and more often, until it sticks. You just keep at it!

Nothing new here and still in the 150s, feels good.
  • August 2020 began daily weighing, ranged 163 to 159.
  • September began 160, ended 158, ranged 160 to 154.
  • October began 159, ended 158, ranged from 155 to 162.
  • November began 160, ended 153, ranged from 153 to 164.
  • December averaged 156 and ranged from 151 to 159.
  • January 2021 averaged 155 and ranged from 149 to 160.
  • February averaged 156 but ranged wildly 145 to 166.
  • March averaged 147, ranged from 143 to 153, the high just the one day after surgery.
  • April was not a great month, averaged 157 but ended at 164..., ranged from 147 to 166.
  • May was not-so-great , I averaged 156 and ranged from 149 to 165, unfortunately I ended the month with a binge and up into the 160s
June 2021
  • 1 - 160 lbs
  • 2 - 158 lbs
  • 3 - 156 lbs
  • 4 - 155 lbs
  • 5 - 155 lbs
After losing about 160 lbs I began maintenance in July 2020 and am trying to stay somewhere in or close to the 150s.

Persistence and patience. Yeah, I can see that. I find that I want to be weighing 30 pounds lighter than what I do. I need to be patience. I need to take your advice and just concentrate on what I do today. If I eat good and exercise I will lose weight regardless of what shows up on the scale. Yesterday, however, I think I was just depressed and didn't care. It was the first day in 6 weeks that I didn't hit calorie count. I was over about 300. I don't count exercise calories so I have some leeway. Still. It was disappointing, but at the same time it makes me not feel well so I want to do better today. Tomorrow is my official weigh day, but I find that I self sabotage myself. That isn't good. I'll get where I want to be eventually if I quit doing that.

I've always wondered if after I lose everything that I will be able to maintain
That was something I thought about a lot whilst losing, about all I can tell you for certain is that it will be very different from the loss experience. For me it has been harder, and I suspect it is for a lot of people. That is just based on the difficultly so many have keeping the weight off. For myself I was successful in the past in losing weight, a lot of weight several times. I was however never successful keeping it off, not until this time anyway. Its been less than a year of maintenance for me so I don't have lots of experience, but I have had more success than in the past. I have learned no secrets or easy paths to it, just doing my best and being persistent... You are wise to be thinking about it now, and preparing as best you can, your time will come!

After losing about 160 lbs I began maintenance in July 2020 and am trying to stay somewhere in or close to the 150s.

Maintainence is another phase in the journey and definitely not an easy one. I got down to 102/103lbs in my late twenties and ballooned to 142lbs in my early thirties (I know that doesn't sound like much but on a 5ft tall girl everything is just magnified), due to hormonal imbalances (undiagnosed at the time), depression and not looking after myself. I have to be very careful and I have cheat days in between for sure, but I tend to pay for them later. But it certainly is a win being in your ideal weight range!!

Looks like a new low to me! Good for you, about to cross the mid-century mark Tom.
still committed to finishing the month 5 - 8 lbs lighter
That is a lot for someone of your size to lose, more than 5% of your body weight. Hope you are able to do what you need to Misty!
