Weigh Yourself Everyday (or frequently) Club

Nice, is that a new low Angel?
Unfortunately I have the same weight, no progress so far....
No need for progress to post here, in fact its quite normal not to lose in the short run. I find posting here helps me better understand longer term trends and day to day variability. At this point I am not trying to lose weight, just maintain, but the idea of posting here is about the same.

Looks like you are holding in the 220s Err, good work. Amazing that you are there, and approaching that half your original body weight milestone!

Up a little here, not the end of the world, but higher than I would like. Won't panic over it, just see what happens from here. Just noticed that I am exactly where I was when I began posting here, at the beginning of August, not too bad.
  • August began 161, ended 159, ranged 163 to 159.
  • September began 160, ended 158, ranged 160 to 154.
  • October began 159, ended 158, ranged from 155 to 162.
  • November began 160, ended 153, ranged from 153 to 164.
  • December averaged 156 and ranged from 151 to 159.
  • January 2021 averaged 155 and ranged from 149 to 160.

After losing about 160 lbs I began maintenance in July 2020 and am trying to stay somewhere in or close to the 150s.

Nice, is that a new low Angel?

yea, it's my lowest weight so far in like 5 years : )

Thanks. After my run & shower today I briefly hit the "half the man I used to be" milestone, but it'll probably be another week or so before I cross below while fully hydrated...

and
Great new lows!! And Err, I would take the 225, even if temporary for now it is half your starting weight, a real accomplishment. And if you think about it when corrected for bone mass you have lost well more than half the flesh you began this with!

I am not happy this morning, and confused. I am up, 4 lbs since yesterday and 9 lbs in 5 days... Nearing my highest weight since getting into maintenance months ago. This time I am having a harder time figuring out why. I do not believe my calorie has changed since I was 16 lbs lighter at 149 less than a month ago. And in the last couple of weeks I have done pretty well exercising. I thought I had found the culprit in salt and grapefruit but that is not the reason this time. I don't know, I think I will just try to stay my current course for a few more days. I meet with a nutritionist/binge eating disorder specialist on Thursday, don't think I will make any changes before that. If necessary I can cut my calories, and I may end up doing that. One good thing about this weigh every day thing is I am seeing it happen in real time, time to do something about it if I have to.

That´s really weird. It´s clear that most of that must be water if you´re up 4 pounds in a day but it would be really interesting to know why it´s happening!

That is weird Rob, I'm curious what the nutritionist has to say. Have you noticed any bloating or that clothes fit differently? If not, maybe check against another scale?

Nice, you will have to look back even more years to match soon!
Another new one, getting so close to that 225 mark, fully hydrated this time.
And another great new low!! LaMa must be feeling good.

Good to see you here Gold, hope you join us regularly!

Err, I do have two scales side by side and often double check. Wish I could blame this on a bad scale, but I can't. My clothes probably do fit a little more tightly, but no so much as I expected they might with the weight gain. Maybe that's because its winter and I am wearing baggier things, more sweat pants, fewer jeans. But still things fit ok, one of the saving graces I guess. No feeling of bloating, at least that is good. It will be interesting to talk with the nutritionist, we'll see where that goes.

I agree LaMa, it is weird, I have thought hard about it. The only thing I can see new to my diet is a lot of cocoa powder, any chance that causes weight gain? I have always liked strong flavors and the cocoa is that, I used the dark powdered "Dutched" variety, only 10 calories per tablespoon (3 g carbs, 0.5 g fat and 1 g protein), it is supposed to be good for you. I was surprised to find how much I like it even unsweetened. Sometimes I add a little of the pure stevia.

I have found 100% pure stevia is a sweetener I can tolerate, it is hard to find, 95% of stevia has lots of sugar alcohols like erythritol added, usually a lot more than the actual stevia itself. I have found the sugar alcohols really give me digestive problems, and I am not alone in that. Pure stevia costs more and is harder to find. However it is much sweeter than stevia mixed with the sugar alcohols so I am not sure the cost per sweetening is really more, I don't need much. Pure stevia is more difficult to dissolve and can't be used in a lot of cooking the way the sugar alcohols can. It also has a bit of a bitter after taste the alcohols don't. I don't think the stevia is related to my weight gain, I was eating more of the artificial sweeteners when my weight was lower...

I am still in the 160s, but down just a little... I have decided to make no big changes until talking with the nutritionist, that happens Thursday.

After losing about 160 lbs I began maintenance in July 2020 and am trying to stay somewhere in or close to the 150s.

Bitter cacao is great stuff but I'm getting 12-27 kcal per tablespoon for it, depending on what site I look at. Don't suppose it makes a huge difference unless you're eating a cup a day though. I guess the difference is in how densely they pack it? 10 kcal could be freshly sifted. Wouldn't explain the sudden trend upward, of course, unless you just started eating it.
I think it might be interesting to start measuring your waist/arms/legs/chest at this point. You've been exercising a lot in the past year and I could see your muscles trying to grow now that you're finally approaching something like maintenance calories. I don't normally think weight gain is best explained by added muscle mass and I'm not saying you're likely to be gaining 10 pounds of muscle in 2 weeks but I do think it's something that's going to play a role going forward.

Today's new low is unlikely to stick around, by the way, given how hungry I've been for the past 40 hours or so (and the amount I ate as a result).

IMG_2127 (002).jpg
However your point is well taken, all tablespoons are not created equal, packing it in or heaping it would make for me. As you say, if its just the odd tablespoon it matters little for a calorie count. However I have noticed that my measures have been getting sloppy. My new "truth in calorie counting" effort has made that clear. For example I eat a lot of frozen strawberries, at 50 cal/cup. A cup of frozen strawberries contains a lot of air, dead space between the berries. I found that I was packing the cup as tightly as possible, and heaping it a bit, probably getting more like 70 calories into the cup. And eating 4 cups a day that comes to 80 uncounted calories a day, add that to other similar undercounts and it could easily be the 200 to 400 calories Err referred to. So now I am trying to get more honest in this. Funny how my mind wants so badly for me to eat too much, it plays tricks...
