And almost half your starting body weight, that is really good Err. You got the variability vs trend thing right, I find it hard to remember that sometimes, posting here helps.

LaMa holding your low and Vic staying at the 140 level, good to see all around!

Ate a bit extra today to compensate for a long bike ride. Probably didn't eat enough actually, but I tend to be hungrier the day after exertion.

Hey Err, nice new Navy BF low! And I am sure you burned any extra calories.

Well I ended the month with a bit of a drift up, it may be real. I have been eating a few more calories, and not exercising regularly. I am however still in the 150s, only one day did I bump 160, and a couple of days I dropped to 149, not bad all in all. January averaged 155 and ranged from 149 to 160.

I expected to retain a bunch of water after yesterday's 27-mile cruiser bike ride, but that didn't happen. Instead I got a bunch of new lows, including my waistline dipping into the 30's (& neck into the 16s - no longer a risk factor for sleep apnea!)

Nice new low Err, and having your waist into the 30s is great! And good for you LaMa holding your losses.

February did not begin on a happy note for me. At 162 I am 12 pounds heavier than on January 1... I have to be honest and recognize that some of the weight gain has to have come from eating a few more calories and exercising less. Some of it is probably just variability as well. To be honest I don't feel like I am gaining, my clothes are no tighter and I still feel about the same. I am going to try and not let it bother me too much, will try a bit harder to stay on track and just be patient and see what happens.

I guess raising your calorie intake AND lowering your output is bound to have an influence. How are your energy levels?

Happy Groundhog's Day!!

Always nice to see you here Vic, and holding in the low 140s isn't a bad thing! And Err, you really are getting close to being out of the 230s, congrats on the new low!

I am down a pound, but still in the 160s. You are right LaMa, at least some of my weight gain has to be from more calories in and fewer out, however I don't think it all is, I went up 13 pounds in 13 days, I know I did not eat enough to explain most of that. I am back to exercising and will see what happens, I don't plan to lower my calorie intake, not right away anyway. Even the low 160s is not a bad place for me to be, its just the gain that makes me uncomfortable. Hopefully it won't last... And yes LaMa, my energy levels have improved, thanks for asking.

Glad to hear your energy is back up: I hope you´re restarting your workouts gently and it stays that way. Agreed that there´s no way you gained 13 pounds of fat in 13 days!

Is that a new low LaMa? Good for you! And Err you are hanging in at the bottom of the 230s nicely!

Well I am up a bit more... That makes 14 lbs since January 19, hard for me to understand. It seems to me the worst case from my increased calories and not exercising should be a lot less. According to my log I only ate about 50 calories a day more than earlier, and according to the my fitness pal app I was burning an average of about 300 calories a day. So rounding up, at most I was taking in 500 calories a day more in the last couple of weeks. That would be about 7,000 calories and it was probably less. Using LaMa's 3500 calories per pound number that would only explain a gain of 2 pounds... Oh well, I will try not to panic and just see where the increase in exercise leads... Maybe I will try to cut back on my evening snacks, that will be a bit hard, I have come to really look forward to them. I do have to say that I am feeling better at 163 than I was at 149...

Day 8 of this plateau (also day 8 going from 1800 to ~2000 calories), but at least my body fat is still generally trending downward... I've been doing a lot more cardio and the spreadsheet now says I should be eating 2200-2300 calories to compensate for my increased activity. I'm reluctant to eat more given this little plateau, but how can I ignore the magic of the spreadsheet? I told a newbie to trust the process the other day, so it would be a bit hypocritical if I didn't take my own advice now...

I told a newbie to trust the process the other day, so it would be a bit hypocritical if I didn't take my own advice now...
I think you need to keep doing what's been working for you, plateaus happen even when you are losing weight. Your spreadsheet has served you very well up till now. 8 days probably is not enough plateau to mean a lot. Hey Vic, good to see you here, and you're pushing the bottom of the 140s!
It really is weird what your body is doing here!
And the weird continues, up again this morning to my highest weight since July, even higher than post op back in the fall... 17 lbs up in 2 weeks now. No, I am not sleep walking to the refrigerator at night and I have really been working hard to keep my calorie count honest. By my count I am averaging around 1750 calories a day, which according to the my fitness pal app should be breakeven calories for me without exercise, yesterday with exercise it says I had a 390 calorie deficit... Guess I have to try not to panic and just figure out what makes sense to do from here, may start by reducing calories a bit today.
